... and planning to be financially independent.
?

Diana would be laughing her head orf.

...I can't help wondering if Meghan finds the whole Prince Andrew scandal a bit of a worry.hmm

I hope it works out for them and for the rest of the senior royals.
Harry suffered the death of his mother at a key age. He grew up in the spotlight, with the gory details of his parents marriage and its break up in the press constantly.
He's been hurt, could say emotionally damaged by that. He seems to see the treatment of his wife as too like the press treatment of his mother
He wants to live a different life than the one prescribed for them. So does she. Good luck to them.. The RF needs modernising and slimming down.

Most of the press about MM has been extremely flattering and not at all in the Same league as Fergie!

Harry has criticised ALL coverage. Good and bad. He called the good coverage hypocritical because it wasnt ALL gushing and sycophantic so the good pieces dont count in his eyes.

He is like the boy in the ice queen with the glass in his eye: everything he sees is negative! Even when its not its mostly quite flattering.

notanan2 Thu 09-Jan-20 19:42:16

He has also issued a statement saying that pieces on him shouldnt be edited. At all. So will be shunning approved royal correspondents in the future as they edit pieces. And will only be chosing young sycophantic journalists for the Royal duties he DOES do in the future..

... I mean how about just dont bother!
I really wouldnt miss them "representing" us at all in the future

merlotgran Thu 09-Jan-20 19:43:25

I hope Meghan's pal, Jameela Jamil is keeping up with the news from the palace.

The Queen has instructed all four royal households to work at finding a way forward.

In other words, 'Talk to my staff!'

Now, That's Power! grin

Fiachna, I was referring to the toe sucking incident. Perhaps you think that’s okay for a person married to a royal. I don’t think it’s okay for anyone actually, but it certainly brought the royal family into the news in an unacceptable way.

Anniebach Thu 09-Jan-20 19:43:38

Sadly I doubt he will ever accept the truth of his mother and the press .

notanan2 Thu 09-Jan-20 19:44:52

So many similarities to the abdication in 1935

That is the "look" they are trying to sell to the US.

But its BS. He is a minor Royal. He was free to marry MM. Being a non working Royal isnt ground breaking.

Ita nothing like abdication, but they are trying to act like it is!

Gfplux Thu 09-Jan-20 19:45:46

They have been driven away by the likes of the Daily Mail. Hounded just like Diana.

maddyone Thu 09-Jan-20 19:46:36

Daisyboots,
‘......
where has this Lucy Winter come from? MM in disguise perhaps.’ gringringrin

It was only news because she really was "hounded", unlike MM. And paps broke into her holiday villa.

The same thing happened to Kate (topless pics taken within the grounds of a private villa) and NOT to MM

But H had his mind set that they would never be accepted and when they were, set out to prove himself "right" anyway with this faux abducation

notanan2 Thu 09-Jan-20 19:49:14

The Queen has instructed all four royal households to work at finding a way forward.

All of which would have played out in private had they held off on their announcement

So much for wanting privacy!

ReadyMeals Thu 09-Jan-20 19:49:56

The newspapers are annoying me. Trying to say the royal family were not aware. Harry tried to see the queen to discuss it and she said ok then some "Courtier blocked" the meeting. Hmm what sort of courtier would have the nerve to "block" the Queen seeing her own family??? If I had been Harry I'd have been like "well if she can't even be bothered to talk to me then s** her"

Anniebach Thu 09-Jan-20 19:50:51

Diana was not hounded by the press

maddyone Thu 09-Jan-20 19:52:24

Yes notanan2, you’re absolutely right. Meghan has never been hounded like some other members of the royal family have. I’d forgotten about the topless photos of Kate.
I agree with all your posts on this subject.

Anniebach Thu 09-Jan-20 19:54:12

Harry married his mother

merlotgran Thu 09-Jan-20 19:56:37

Whatever are you on about, Readymeals?

notanan2 Thu 09-Jan-20 20:01:45

Oh the queen wasnt available to drop everything because H said he wanted to talk? Yes I imagine he would need to wait in line, except he is Harry so wouldnt have the patience or professionalism to do that!

She is an old lady who still works has a sick husband and a dodgy son. We've just had a GA and there is war in the middle east.
So H&M say "we've made a decision and we need to speak to you imediately", of course its not going to jump to the top of her diary managers list! H has had more than his share of attention over the years, not always for good reasons, and there are other things going on in the RF and the country that arent all about H&M.

They could have waited for an appointment.

gmarie Thu 09-Jan-20 20:06:34

Smart move. Such a lovely, genuine couple. I wish them the best.

notanan2 Thu 09-Jan-20 20:10:03

I mean if a normal person wanted to go part time they would wait for an appointment. Not just announce it was happening anyway if the boss wasnt free immediately

maddyone Thu 09-Jan-20 20:10:44

Meghan genuine!
She genuinely loves fame and money.
She genuinely dislikes her father and her family, her feelings were so genuine that she genuinely cut them out of her life.

lucywinter Thu 09-Jan-20 20:14:57

"this Lucy Winter"

shock

Barmeyoldbat Thu 09-Jan-20 20:16:32

So he is going to give up the Royal Grant but still accept money from his father. If he really wanted true independence and make his own way, earning his money he could always go back into the army, after all a lot of money was spent on his training. Or he could do what William did fly the helicopter for the Air Rescue.

I believe this is all down to Megan, many will disagree, but I think one of the problems is she has to play second fiddle to Kate.

MerylStreep Thu 09-Jan-20 20:24:29

Was it a coincidence that they chose today ( Kate's birthday) for the proverbial to hit the fan. Surely not ?

Namsnanny Thu 09-Jan-20 20:26:27

Oh dear! I really hope this thread runs out of steam soooooon!

I'm so bored with seeing their name pop up, and there is nothing new to add is there?

Is there a way of shutting off the trending thingy?
