I imagine the monarchy will not suffer from shedding a few individuals from the firm. Prince Harry has worked well for the disabled soldiers and I imagine he will continue to pull his weight. Harry does emerge from the media filters as a sincere man with strong feeling for justice.

Their relationship really honestly and truly has absolutely nothing to do with any of us.

maddyone We'll have to agree to disagree. I only just looked at the thread a couple of hours ago because I'm not a voyeur of the royal family. IMO some of the posts are downright disgusting. I doubt very much whether anybody on here knows them personally or has any intimate knowledge of the their thinking. Everything is gossip and assumptions. The royal family seems to be just another soap opera to some people.

I did read the message and my understanding is that Harry and Meghan are working towards being financially independent. They both already have some money in their own right and I guess they could find some way of making money.

Remember Harry being interviewed after the birth of Princess Charlotte, he was asked how he felt about being another step further down the pecking order. He replied that it felt great, no problem, I’m sure he was genuinely pleased to be moving further away from the possibility of ever being monarch.

Exactly! I think most people would be very happy if they got on with their lives, but they don't want to live quietly out of the glare of the spotlight - they want to be a global brand that is built on their royal status and which is generously funded by the royal household.

Then an interview predating their meeting, where she is visibly younger, had her on camera saying she thought harry was the sexiest of the British royals so.....

GrannyLaine I certainly do - Carole Middleton was on the receiving end of some vicious bile. Meghan’s mum has had a very easy time of it in comparison.

Growstuff, I think that most posts on here are not judgmental, rather posters are happy to see H+M go their own way, but they simply feel that in that event, H+M should fund themselves. It’s not acceptable for them to continue to take funds from taxpayers for their security, or funds from the Duchy to fund their lifestyle. Meghan apparently spent nearly a million on clothes last year, which is hundreds of thousands more than Kate spent. It’s not judgmental to notice this, when all that money is coming from taxpayers, and it is in fact, completely fair to comment on it.

Why all the drama? Leave them alone to get on with their lives.
They've always been in a difficult position with regard to the media - impossible not to exaggerate.
I wish the 3 of them well in Canada, and I'm sure our royal family will survive fine without them.

The Duchess of Cambridge will probably be Queen one day. Meghan will be the "spare"'s wife, so they're in different situations

Diana was 35 when she did the tv interview. Charles did not
pour anything out on tv.

Anne was in a difference position to Harry, she is the 2nd child but her two younger brothers were closer in line to the throne that she was, she accepted this and got on with her
duties.
