... and planning to be financially independent.
?
I think Harry has a lot of George V about him.
Or does it simply prove that our society is turning into a society of haters?
I’ve never really doubted that Prince Charles is Harry’s father, but in any case, surely the father is who brings up the child.
I agree with you lucywinter, let’s not go over who the biological dad is again.
Agreed Lucywinter -
I would not mind if hewitt was H's father, I mean it's not like Charles kept his pecker parked up.
Well, he's bound to be partly a Spencer surely? Well yes! but I meant he looks just like the Spencers re the colouring and features (not as jowly as Uncles Charles) but manages to look like Father Charles too!
More so than William in fact.
One thing is certain from this thread, and that is that the Royal Family is very much a part of British life, and it evokes strong feelings. Who would have thought that a thread on the Royals would have run to 30 pages. Love them or hate them, they are very clearly a part of British (and the Commonwealth’s) life and almost everyone has a strongly held opinion on them.
Oh please don't let's go down the "who's the daddy" route. Bit of an old chestnut now.
Ah" Just read the previous posts. Sorry merlot.
Well, he's bound to be partly a Spencer surely? Must have a bit of his dad in there somewhere though.
Profound thought that was merlot.

Shame Zara's been racing around, but it is in her blood...
Prince William's wife seems more and more queenly by comparison
The ginger stepson theory - which I don't believe - but maybe Meghan has been manipulating that story too...
It's the poor old queen who has to scramble around ((yet again)) trying to save the monarchy at least this takes the focus off of her favourite son
Thank you ananimous
It wasn’t a query about elephant in the room, I understand the meaning of that, it was to what it referred to. Yes, as has been pointed out, if it’s the James Hewitt debate, no, I am quite sure Charles is Harry’s father, no question.
He is definitely a Spencer
I think Prince Harry looks like Diana's brother and he has her father's funny shaped nose.
merlot
has anyone else made the connection between Meghan and Harry's former girlfriend, Cressida Bonas?
I did say earlier today that I expect Chelsy and Cressida are each having a little sigh of relief and a wry smile, thinking thank goodness it isn't me.
Poor Harry, falling in love but the women he loved walked away because of who he is and knowing just what the future would be like.
Always in the limelight, every move scrutinised but always the bridesmaid never the bride (metaphorically speaking).
Calendargirl
(usually "the elephant in the room") or "the elephant in the living room"[1][2] is a metaphorical idiom in English for an important or enormous topic, problem, or risk that is obvious or that everyone knows about but no one mentions or wants to discuss because it makes at least some of them uncomfortable or is personally, socially, or politically embarrassing, controversial, inflammatory, or dangerous.[
Is the Duchess of Sussex a British citizen yet?
Good point, Calendargirl. I read there was some hold up regarding her citizenship. I wonder if it will go ahead now?
Calendargirl she’s making reference to the James Hewitt rumours, which, incidentally, I don’t believe. Put aside the hair colour and he resembles Prince Charles and the Duke of E. Look at the eyes.
Whyb do people discussing this issue have to take so much pleasure in denigrating the individuals involved?
What has happened would have happened anyway. If there is a problem it is the usual one of being not what you do but they way that you do it, and in this case their behaviour was discourteous and almost deliberately uncaring. It doesn't really matter whether he or she instigated it, but I suspect him not her.
Growstuff, you’re right, it has been reported that Meghan has about 4-5 million which she has earned herself. I believe that Harry has about 20 million from his mother, and 7 million from his great grandmother, plus he has income from the Duchy, the Sovereign Grant, and in addition he/they have all their security costs paid by us, the taxpayers. I think posters feel that if they withdraw from royal life they should pay for their own security, and not take any monies from The Duchy. They have already said, as I understand it, they will no longer take monies from the Sovereign Grant. Posters also seem to feel that Frogmore Cottage should be returned to the Queen, and the 2-3 million spent on it by the taxpayers repaid to the country. I have also noticed, and I feel this myself, that brand SussexRoyal should not be allowed to trade on the royal name and make them money. No other royal is allowed to use the the royal connection to make money. That is precisely why Princess Anne didn’t want her children to be saddled with titles, she wanted them to be free to make their own way in the world.
I do understand why you think as you do, but I am happy to agree to disagree.
I haven't had time to read today's part of this thread so apologies if this has already been mentioned but has anyone else made the connection between Meghan and Harry's former girlfriend, Cressida Bonas?
One is an former actress who wanted to be a royal and now doesn't seem to be happy about anything going on in her privileged life.
The other one is a former girlfriend who wanted to be an actress and is getting good reviews for her performance as Jeremy Bamber's sister in White House Farm. She is now engaged to another Harry (Wentworth-Stanley) and couldn't be happier.
Maybe Meghan should have worked harder at her former successful career and left royal life to those who are aware of the pitfalls. Cressida Bonas had the good sense to know it would not be an easy ride and I think now has the better life.
Be careful what you wish for.
I thought the same Alexa but not now after he humiliated his grandmother and father. It was brutal.
growstuff Meghan was earning in the region of $375,000 pa in her role in Suits. That’s dollars and, whilst not peanuts, it doesn’t compare to the wealth she has access to as being a member of the RF. She wouldn’t have been able to afford the designer wardrobe she’s accumulated since marrying H. For you to say she’s earned millions in her own right isn’t really correct. She certainly wasn’t poor and she had money in the bank but let’s get real here.
Meghan apparently spent nearly a million on clothes last year, which is hundreds of thousands more than Kate spent. It’s not judgmental to notice this, when all that money is coming from taxpayers, and it is in fact, completely fair to comment on it.
How do you know that - she has her own money and so does Harry?
If calculations have been done and it was indeed £1m then I don't think it has come from the taxpayer in the main.
