Who goes shopping in January sales

If I need a new coat I go to Debenhams.
Usually get one half price. I hate paying full price because I rarely wear a coat. Apart from that a big no. Can't stand them. But if I had very little money I would brave the sales.

I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than spend precious free time traipsing around shops looking for "stuff". There's nothing I want or need so badly that I'd physically fight over it.

I've bought a few things in the online sales, but haven't gone mad.

I buy very little in actual shops, even though I miss them when they close. I know that this is contradictory, but I know a lot of people who are the same.

I used to love the sales when I was younger, and there was no online option. I don't think I'd bother now if the Internet went down, though. I have enough 'stuff' to last for years, and if I really want something I can afford to buy it at full price, which anyway works out cheaper than buying lots of things I didn't know I needed just because they are reduced.

Anything less like sale time when we went shopping in sale time I have yet to see. We went to M&S for New Year nibbles, Fat Face, where I bought my jacket, a gift shop, Boots and Superdrug - and Costa for coffee. It was no busier than a normal Friday or Saturday. An average Sunday is probably busier.

I have always loved shopping but just can't get very enthusiastic about going at sale time anymore. It's lots of rails of clothes people probably don't want and some shops like Next bring in extra stuff that's not sold online. I've actually been today and there's so much left and it's all awful. I do love Meadowhall though as there's some lovely different shops.

I have ordered gift sets reduced to half price and stashed them away for Christmas. I do feel I have obtained some genuine bargains and now have all the presents for close family hidden. Unfortunately I cannot do the same for GC as I never know what toys are going to be popular nearer the time. My ex h hated the expense of Christmas and in my final couple of years with him I had to hide money in order to buy my children gifts. He was a mean man, but as I later discovered he wasn't being very mean towards his lady friend and her family. Ha, ha, we live and learn.

I love love love shopping, for anything, furniture, clothes, books, posh shops, cheap as chips shops, my all time fave is a delicatessen in Italy, but never shop whilst the sales are on, all the tat from bygone years bought out time after time. Still ladies, we can’t all be the same, I am probably responsible for keeping most high streets trading?

Same here the sales are nothing like they used to be.
And the bargain hunters drive me nuts.
I actually saw 2 women arguing over a scarf that wasn`t even pretty.dumb gits.

I don’t enjoy shopping at the best of times! Not for me then.

Bought half price wrapping paper and box of crackers in supermaket, does that count ?

On speaking to a lady just before Xmas she was telling me that she was in a store very reasonable store at that, and a couple of ppl had hold of each end of scarf but wanting the same item, actually arguing over it, goodness knows why, I must admit I laughed as I just couldn’t imagine arguing over a scarf, or any item for that matter, reminded me of a comedy sketch, so it must happen still monica

I hate the sales! Usually they put all the clothes they can’t sell onto overstuffed rails, with most of it ending up on the floor (both high end and cheaper shops).

Don’t mind the online sales though!

The most I have done is order a couple of sale tops online. I can't be bothered with the shops at the best of times.

TrendyNannie6 are the sales still as you describe? The papers all said that the sales now are a shadow of what they were, mainly because Black Friday and Cyber Monday, no idea what or when the latter was,

We live near a new town with a recently built shopping area. DGD wanted to spend her Christmas money so we went there a few days after Christmas.

Yes, there were more cars than usual in the car park, but very few shops had more than six shoppers in them and we had a nice leisurely wander. I bought a knitted jacket of a style and colour I have been looking for, for nearly 2 years, with 60% off the price, and a face pack (0.99p), DD and DGC came back with some toiletries and make-up.

We had coffee in a nearly empty Costa Coffee and then went home. I am not one of life's shoppers, but I rather and enjoyed it. Three generations of one family having a brief giggly girlie time together. Something I have only done since DGD came into my life.

What do they want? They had stuff for Christmas so what else do they need? Do so people really enjoy it?
