We don't even have a recycling bin provided by our council.

We had a large glass bin which we used, but it was on the grass, and the council used to mow close to it, but not move it, so it ended up with 6ft weeds around it.

When we reported the weeds, the council came and removed the glass bin, and we've never seen it since.

Am I the only one who is totally confused by what can and cant be recycled and the lack of clarity? And the lack of a single policy? DD1 about 20 miles away gets a food recycling collection - we don't!

We thought we could recycle cat food pouches but it turns out that we cant - possibly!

Try googling repaircafe.org There is one in my area but it seems to be about clothing including altering and mending.

DD2 lives in Leeds and they have repair cafe events that mend a variety of things.

Also info on how to set up a repair cafe group !

And also to help people to buy goods which don’t come with packaging that needs recycling in first place.

infoman nothing specific but am very interested in recycling things for other uses and would like info on that subject. I do the usual composting, plastics cardboard tins and glassware. But heard that people now are finding ways of reusing items instead of throwing away when they don't work, or are no longer needed, hanging on to 'stuff' rather than disposing of to help lessen landfill and i am very interested in all of that. I put items up for sale or for free on our local Marketplace, just for a very small amount rather than send to the dump.

When it comes to recycling we advertise on Gumtree freebies and pick and choose who to give the items to e.g. a new mum who was using real nappies got my drier recently.
I’ve always found freecycle an unsatisfactory website.
Sorry, can’t help with a site on the subject but repurposing does appear to be very popular judging from all the programmes on daytime TV.

I have been recycling for a long time,
may I ask what you might be trying to recycle or dispose of?

I would like to find a site or forum which embraces all aspects of recycling especially make do and mend, and encourages keeping 'stuff' rather than changing items all the time to be up to date. I do tend to live by 'if it works and does the job don't change it'
