So how was New Years Eve for you All

Our son, DiL and grandson came over for lunch as they can’t stay up with the baby. We had a lovely lunch and I made cherry cake using Delia’s recipe. My son took the left over cake home so this morning I made another but used less sugar for DH and myself Never thought I could improve on a Delia recipe but I did!
Went to bed at 11pm and was woken up by fireworks all around us at 12 and then my mobile started to ping with messages so I just answered before going back to sleep.
On the subject of pets and fireworks, my son’s Bengal cat sits on the windowsill and watches them with great interest!

I watched The Apartment with Jack Lemmon followed by Some Like it Hot. Perfect New Year's Eve viewing. Our family arrive tomorrow so now gearing up rather than down!

Noisy! The fireworks started as soon as it got dark...and not quiet ones either. It was like bombs and machine guns! My poor pets were terrified. I went to bed at 10pm but had to get up again and sit with them until 2am when the noise finally stopped. Will be needing a nap this afternoon!

I spent the evening with my lovely husband, two sons and a delightful daughter-in-law. The children slept as we drank a cocktail to celebrate my survival of the old year (I’ve been quite poorly) and to welcome in 2020.

There was some sadness; my sister died recently and this year we commemorate ten years since my son-in-law’s death:
Some anxiety; we have frail elderly parents who are in their 80s and 90s and a family member with a very dangerous job:
And a great deal of thankfulness for our children and grandchildren who are all very different from us and from each other and yet together we have a wonderful family bond that I think (hope) will survive well into the future.

Quietist we've ever had. Wasn't feeling great, tummy a bit bilious, felt quite lethargic. Fell asleep watching a film around 8.30 woke up around 9.10 and decided to go to bed as just felt awful. Was in bed for 9.30, didn't hear thing until I woke at 6.30 with a text from DD last night which we didn't hear. Oh dear not a great start to 2020. However after catch up with sleep feeling better today. New Year's Day dinner all prepared and looking forward to DD and family coming along around 1.30. I am determined to enjoy it all. Happy New Year everyone.

On my own; watched the John Wilson proms concert on tv, can't remember what else.
But managed to stay up till New Year and watched the fireworks with a large Cointreau on ice. Decided to save the fizz!
Lots of fireworks around here, but they don't seem to bother the cats.

We were in bed by eleven.

We watched Last Leg (love it) and Jools Holland, we have seen the New Year in with Jools for as long as I can remember. The last time we went out NY was about 20 yrs ago.
We ? at 12 and watched the few fireworks in the field behind then trotted off to bed.

Stayed up to watch the fireworks on TV - made a mental note not to bother next year. Awful noises-was it supposed to be music? -in the programme leading up to it, followed by more to accompany the fireworks. It is all geared to the young these days. Never thought I'd say this, but I now remember Andy Stewart with great nostalgia.

My eldest son visited me in the aftenoon. I meant to stay up until midnight but failed miserably! I just had to go to bed,
so I recorded the fireworks to watch today.

Very quiet just DH and I watching Jools, opened bottle of Prosecco but just a sip each else heartburn galore! Heard hardly any fireworks.

I stayed up to see the London fireworks on TV, but wasn't impressed. I think they've been better in previous years.
Went to bed and read for a while until the fireworks here stopped. Then I slept.
Up at 9:30 this morning, so a very Happy New Year to you all.???

Spend the night with all my family and another family. Had a nice meal and drinks. Played Trivial Pursuit and Articulate with the children to much laughter.

Transferred to my flat and third floor balcony at 11-45 in time to pour us all a glass of champagne ( pretend champagne for children) but they thought themselves very sophisticated. Did the clock countdown on the BBC and watched fireworks from all over from the balcony, the children had sparklers. We then went to bed at a respectable time and I am now drinking tea in bed!

We are having steaks on the barbecue with an outside fire later before friends go home, they slept over. DD2 likes to say she had the first. Barbecue of the year!

I’ve been lurking at home since returning from Christmas away feeling generally out of sorts. Having avoided DDs drinkies do on Sunday I made myself go to hers for NY eve. Big mistake. Not having eaten much for 4 days I indulged in a small portion of dinner to test the water, so to speak, and am bitterly regretting it. I greeted the NY with a glass of water (most unlike me) and scurried home at 12.05 since when my insides have been erupting like Mt Vesuvius. It is all becoming very tedious. Just wish I’d gone to bed, pulled the duvet over my head and gone to sleep early last night. It would have been ok if Id enjoyed it.....
Here’s to 2020 ! ?

We stayed home, watched the fireworks on TV at 12pm then went to bed. A few fireworks went off locally but nothing too major. I didnt wake until 9.50am this morning!!!!!! Couldnt believe my eyes when i saw the clock. I think it its an accumilation of late nights early mornings, extra shopping, visitors over the xmas period and finally cleaning the house from top to bottom yesterday and putting all the decs away. It all caught up with me i guess.

Another who's been coughing and spluttering through two nights, nodding and waking----just a horrible feeling. Just as well I'm on my own.

Fireworks galore and noisy too, even at 3am then a lone one in the distance at around 5am, probably on the way home from a party. God help their heads !

DD2 and SiL phoned from Australia. We do miss her?

Possibly felt her absence more this Hogmanay as DH and I are both laid low with a flu bug.

Wished each other happy new year in between coughing and sneezing??. Otherwise, very quiet and thankfully a fireworks free zone.

Had grandchildren for sleepover. Watched rubbish film called "New Year", children finally dropped off before midnight. Received and replied to texts of "Happy New Year". Husband and I raised a glass to each other remembering all the times we'd celebrated at parties, gatherings, up in London in headier times and decided we were thankful to be at home without any of the fuss. Went to bed at midnight, kept awake for an hour by all the fireworks.

Nice phone calls from my daughter and a rare one with my son who lives abroad left me in tears but happy ones it was so nice to chat to him. I was in bed and asleep by 10:30 woken up by the many fireworks which went on till 1:30 annoyingly.

Our OZ one was quieter than a graveyard. No fireworks, none that I could hear and no revellers in this suburb. We're 90% Asian so their day will come later! Saw it in with a cup of tea!

Joined in with your celebrations at elevenses this morning with a mug of coffee! Got sunburned sitting outside!

Went to bed at 9 and slept right through!

Fell asleep before midnight but woken by a few fireworks but so few I soon went back to sleep. Dreary morning out there but little traffic and good to be able to hear birds singing.

I had a snooze and woke up in plenty of time to see the fireworks on tv.
