Good morning all, as no-one has opened up, I'm going to take the plunge!

Wishing all on Gransnet a very happy Christmas and a more peaceful 2020.
From near Dartmoor in Devon on a sunny/showery day.

Gillybobyou are a star woman, Merry Christmas to you and your family.

This is the first time I have posted here. I am also from the NE. Been raining, and have left early to go to shopping for breadbuns for breakfast tomorrow. My children and grandchildren come to us for Breakfast, used to be a full english that my husband cooked, however since the numbers have risen and husband not able to do it now, its sausage or bacon buns, which they all enjoy. I read this every day and was also glad the Gillybob was on this morning, I really hope that next year is better for you. Merry Christmas to everyone x

Another relieved person to see you’ve posted gilly. I was hoping that no news was good news meaning that you were getting something done about your tooth.
I had awful toothache over Christmas one year caused by scoffing chocolate covered Brazil nuts. Hardly surprising I never eat them now!
Enjoy Christmas the best you can x

Susan56 Tue 24-Dec-19 10:18:29

So pleased to hear from you and glad that things are finally improving for you gilly.Well done to that young dentist who has hopefully along with the antibiotics finally done the trick on your wretched tooth.
Also brilliant that your DH managed on his own for so long.
Wishing you both the best Christmas you can have and here’s to a healthy New Year to you both.x

Gillybob lovely of you to update us , so glad the face is improving . Isn’t mr Gilly amazing too , to be able to cope on his own , when you think what he was like a few days ago , proves home is best xxx

Good morning all and a very Happy Christmas one and all!

Haven't posted in a while as I landed in our local casualty due to the dire effects of taking too much pain killers. Let's just say that the plumbing department came to a standstill but things are now on the move again....hooray for prunes and branflakes!

The mutt and I don't move far from home but have enjoyed some lovely, frosty walks in the woodies.

Xmas lunch with friends tomorrow, plus all the dogs, so should be fun!!

mrswoo Tue 24-Dec-19 10:28:05

Another first-time poster/ frequent reader from the NE. Just popped in to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas.

Marydoll, I hope you have a relaxing time (that’s probably easier said than done!). I love your posts!

Gillybob, it sounds as if finally, finally, things are starting to get better for you and Mr Gillybob health-wise and tooth-wise. Long may it continue.

It’s exactly a year ago today that I retired from work! It’s been quite a year and I’m loving it.

Jane10 Tue 24-Dec-19 10:28:55

gillybob- well phew! I'm glad that you finally got the help that you needed and that your DH was OK.
Try to take it as easy as possible.

Nannytopsy Tue 24-Dec-19 10:30:11

Gillybob so glad to hear that you have had help and what an amazing husband you have. Best wishes to you for Christmas!

mancgirl Tue 24-Dec-19 10:35:44

Gilly you have had the most horrendous time. I really wish you and Mr Gilly the very best of health from now on, it would be the best present for you both, apart from little Evie who will make your Christmas just a little bit better! flowers

Nortsat46 Tue 24-Dec-19 10:36:38

Marydoll thank you for opening up. I think Mick said he had appointed a deputy, but everyone is pleased you opened the thread on this busy day.

It’s bright here in east London.
Our bird is in the oven, as is our usual approach and stuffing, gravy etc will be made later today.

So pleased Gilly was able to update us.
Wishing safe journeys to all the GNs travelling today and a happy and productive day to all of us. Special good thoughts to all who are facing challenges. ?

JenniferEccles Tue 24-Dec-19 10:36:57

I was so pleased to read that your problem tooth may finally be on the mend.

What a stressful time you have had so I do hope you can relax a bit over Christmas.

It am sure your family will help to enable you to draw breath.

Good morning all. Yesterday I went to visit my daughter and check she has enough medication, food and is ready for going to her Christmas Meal on Christmas Day. Usually do the visit in one day but because I have been ill I felt I needed to stay overnight. So I booked myself into the local inn for for the night. We had a good day with a lovely lunch. I didn't stay long at her house as she hasn't put the heating on yet and it was cold. Up early this morning, quick breakfast and home at 10.15 and I am so happy to be here. Today is going to be spent going out for a decent coffee in moment and then just relaxing for the rest of the day. Mr Barmey has informed me his cold is a lot better now. I think it only improved because he has a race coming up, me being cynical I think. Have a lovely day one and all and relax.

Good Morning from Lincolnshire. Damp and mild here. Will be cooking Christmas Lunch today because our niece (our only visitor over the Christmas period) will be coming to eat with us. She will then move on to Lincoln, so that she can be with her brother (both their parents are deceased) and his three children - to see them open their presents on Christmas morning. We did however, visit my sister yesterday and another niece (sisters daughter) and family called in to us yesterday afternoon. Wishing all Gransnetters a Very Happy Christmas!

Urmstongran Tue 24-Dec-19 11:09:27

Morning everyone. Lovely morning here in Sherwood. Moved in last Wednesday.Just had breakfast with the residents of all 3 blocks of flats. More cleaning and unpacking to do. Hope you all have a good day.

MawB Tue 24-Dec-19 11:15:46

Wonderful news Gillybob ! Very happy for you.
(Am I being a grinch though to ask why sister and DD can’t muck in with cooking dinner etc, even if it is round at your house?)

Have a truly happy Christmas!

Good morning from a dreich looking but mild Glasgow.

Well done for opening up Marydoll Sorry to hear your hospital appointment has left you with worries. I know you like to be on the go but take care of yourself too.

Well, I threw every remedy I could think of to ward off this cold progressing but nothing worked and I feel pretty yucky this morning. Pretty sure no one wants me in any queue sharing good wishes and germs so, staying indoors and knocking back the honey and lemon?

Relieved to hear from you gilly and that you eventually received the more intense treatment necessary.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant, stressless day.

Alygran Tue 24-Dec-19 11:31:35

Great news Gillybob. Just stopped for coffee half way to DD's and saw your update.
Take care everyone with the driving. Lots of spray making it tricky.

Pagzy Tue 24-Dec-19 11:43:02

If the swelling reaches your eye it can be very serious so I am very relieved to hear this positive news from Gilly. ?
