Jane The "Oldie" Jan '20 arrived today so I visited "Matron's website! Not the sort of genteel retirement home suitable for retired teachers and clergy that I had in mind! Wow! Our indoor temp is around 30C at 11.00 p.m. thanks to Mother Nature, so we don't need a further boost, just yet!
But thanks! we'.ll keep it on file for a rainy day, whatever they are.

Jane My latest copy is the December issue, but I can't find that ad. Perhaps you've got a Christmas special or even Jan '20; we're 3 to 4 weeks behind you!
Three other entries caught my eye whilst searching; page 13, "Wholesome and Tasty Meals delivered, for "just £1.99 a meal" How about that?
Page 12 "Cardigan-huggers" Useful pot-stirring stuff!
Page 108 Ad. re: "Beautiful, Busty, Mature Blonde" "Oldie caters for all mature tastes, by the look of it!

Jane Same here! It's nice to know we share the same good tastes! I even read the ads for "retirement accom." for the elderly
Should I return (heaven forbid!) to the UK and decide to live in one of these very enticing places, who could I expect to find as my neighbours?
As I imagine their prices wouldn't attract "riff-raff," as Basil would say' would they all be retired public servants or school teachers on super superannuation packages?

Amy Winehouse made the much better version. What a loss to music this young girl was. I still play her amazing Back to Black CD.

Maw; Are you sure? What have you got in mind? I was on Warfarin, but now on a new blood thinner called "Eliquis". Not sure of the contraindications yet, but maybe it enhances one's sense of humour. The "few" should try it sometime; only available on a doctor's prescription.!

Every time I log on here I see another complaint (or 4) about things which my parents and grandparents would have regarded as 'just life' and coped with sans comment.

I blame the American media for exporting their puerile predilection for airing personal issues in public.

I often feel the wind from my maternal ancestors whirlring in their graves.

Rufus I devour the 'Oldie' on the day it arrives. Takes hours to read and every word is interesting and frequently funny. The cartoons are good too. I'm so glad I impulse bought it one day last year.

My "problem" is my "fat finger" typing.

We ought to be worrying about the climate proplem.

Does that mean that some women (and men ]) actually eat their lipstick? These warnings must be concocted by Public Servants with a sense of humour, otherwise what hope is there for womankind and for that matter mankind!

Another 'Oldie' reader here, and yes I read that article too. Having just seen a warning notice online ' lipstick is not a food ' !!! Perhaps the prediction is more accurate than we think.

Jane; Hi! It's a marvellous mag. and worth every cent. Our copy takes a month to arrive, but that's not a problem as it never dates. I never discard them; copies can be found every where, in and under armchairs etc.and I re-read them regularly. A clever one by Matthew Norman was (is) " Women are best at everything, except..." in front of me right now!
You possibly agreed, depends!, but some of our Grannies took it seriously and went on the attack when I copied some of it here. An ideal holiday companion!
