Yes! I'm the one in OZ (Callistemon is a pseudo Oz through family;) I was born in Manchester (up City, down Scouses} and after 44years came to OZ with family of course, and been in Melb for 49 years. Loving it! Humour is therefore a hybrid Anglo/Oz; What a marriage!

Of course! Thanks for the plug! Why not 2? To-day is your day in midwinter. so OZ has to have its midwinter Christmas Day in July, simple really when you really think about it.!
There are only two main differences here; retailers and restaurateurs double their menu and drinks prices and pack in 50% more tables and chairs so you invariably wind up with other patrons bumping the back of your chair, sitting cheek by jowl and if you happen to want to visit the "facilities" it's best if the whole table go at the same time to avoid serious foot injuries as you try to shuffle out! Otherwise it's possible to have a day out, if a trifle expensive. Hope that solves your worries!?

No, not at the moment but I have been there in July and Christmas in July seemed to be a theme in the shops. I remember thinking 'what on earth - is this just more commercialism?'.

Don’t know anything about Australia so this is an eye opener to me (unless you are winding me up?). I couldn’t hack two Christmases at all bah humbug. I have always wondered how Americans cope with Thanksgiving with all family expectations then Christmas so near to it!!!

Radio here is on all day in dining room as background noise and doesn't go off until TV comes on about 8pm. Even when I go out in the day I arrive back to music, I don't like a silent house.
I've got Magic Radio on, all Christmas tunes, I love them.
I appreciate not everyone feels the same and tomorrow over at Daughters there will be no music, until I get one of the Grandchildren to put Christmas music on.......low, or we get in trouble.

I didn’t realize there were so many Scrooge’s , I’m not that keen on Christmas but at least I don’t complain and enter into rather spirit of the season.

For the first time ever this Christmas, I wrote my cards and wrapped my presents listening to a cd of Bing Crosby singing Christmas songs...but when I got bored with him I put on a Ginger Baker drum solo, REALLY loud!

Well I like most Christmas music, though it can get a bit much in the shops, and some of it is too smaltzy (spelling?) for my taste. With regards to the radio though, well, it's not for very long really and I suppose you could play a CD of own choice if it's really driving you mad, or try radio 4? (Nine lessons and carols aside on R4, that is).

Oh well there's always radio 4 or 4 extra.

Magic Radio is playing ONLY Christmas music. Admittedly some of the tracks they play I welcome because they are both unusual and enjoyable, but to devote every single second to Christmas songs - many of which I'm heartily sick of - is, I think, ridiculous.

We have the radio on all day at work, one of the popular stations. I don’t mind the Xmas songs, but wish there was a bit more variety. As someone else has said, there normal play list is very reparative, which is annoying. So out of work I have my own playlist via Apple Music, which is great . Oh, hate fairytale if New York ?

I do live it but by Boxing Day I’m glad it’s over!
