Good morning from Glasgow. It has stopped raining and a bit brighter since you called in this morning Marydoll. What an awful experience, stuck in a loo! ? getting to any loo nowadays can be a bit of a panic stations for me these days?. TMI!

Happy anniversary Dragonfly?

Welcome vinasol

As you can see by the late hour, the sleeping tabs are working well, a bit too well but I will continue in the hope my sleep pattern gets back to normal?

Good grief gilly. Your DH appears to be coming on in leaps since returning home to your care. Fabulous news but I only wish you didn’t still have to suffer with such a painful mouth. I do admire your can do attitude. Wishing you both strength as you go on.

Really pleased it is winter solstice and now, spring is just around the corner. In my head anyway?????

Enjoy your day all and hoping those with troubles see a chink of light in the tunnel

A very late good morning from County Durham.

Food shop completed now without any hassle and have fridge, freezer and cupboards brimming for the big day. Only 12 to feed this year so that will be fun!

Highlight of today will be GD 2's Christmas Show where we shall see her perform her gymnastic routines that have been occupying most of her days after school and weekends in readiness. She is an amazing little athlete at only 7, and is working within a group of much older girls. DD is certainly going to have a problem in the future deciding between ballet and gymnastics as the training demanded for both is beginning to get serious.

Great to hear your DH is making good progress Gilly, and I do hope your tooth pain eases soon. Wishing the coming year is going to be a much better one for you both.

Have a good day all. X

Good morning from a bright sunny Essex. Was looking forward to a night home yesterday and was all relaxed, watching TV on sofa with a mulled wine when there was a power cut! Only 57houses affected but couldn't tell when it would come on again. Luckily I found my torch and a few battery Xmas lights stayed on. So nothing for it but an early night and kindle by torchlight(mine is quite old!) Was worried about Xmas food in fridge/freezer and also mobile phone dying as battery was very low. Oh how we rely on all these things. Well up at 8am and still no power so tea with saucepan boiled water. Didn't like the house so quiet as my radio is always on but was slowly getting used of it when at the 10.30 all back on. Then had to go around setting clocks, timers etc and back to normal life. We do take all this for granted but am so appreciating everything now!
Hope Mr Gillybob continues to improve at home and Gillybobs is well enough to cook and enjoy Xmas dinner together.?That sunshine is definitely around the cornersunshinexxxx

Pelvic floor exercises won’t help DH ( sadly) but thank you Aggie and others. He is waiting for an op for an enlarged prostate and now has a huge (4.5cm) bladder stone caused by retention if urine, caused by the long time he has waited ( and continues to wait ) to have the prostate op . He’s in a lot of pain but can’t have any procedures involving anaesthetic for several months yet. I feel a touch bitter that if he has had the prostate op when he should have none of this crap might have happened .

Grammaretto Sat 21-Dec-19 11:13:10

Your poor mouth Gilly!!
Things can only get better from now, surely.
I found the Red Cross very helpful for lending supplies when my DM was staying with us and was fairly immobile.
A commode, bath aids, handlebars on the loo etc. I even got an inflatable gadget for washing her hair lying down but we both ended up drenched so I won't recommend that!

Many congratulations to the Dragonflies I hope you celebrate in style.

Feelingmyage55 Sat 21-Dec-19 11:04:28

gillybob. Can the surgery/ward/bladder nurse arrange for you to pick up supplies from the pharmacy? Keep on keeping on. ?

Urmstongran Sat 21-Dec-19 11:02:21

P.s. to Maw
I know what you mean about playtime with smalls. I look at the clock and think ‘blimey, all hat and it’s only 20 minutes since I last checked’!
Units of time ...
?

P.p.s. Hello vinasol (love the name! - suits me down to the ground)
?

Happy Anniversary day to Mr and Mrs Dragonfly xx Enjoy.

Urmstongran Sat 21-Dec-19 10:59:18

Oh gillybob such FANTASTIC news that you’ve shared. It’s great that your husband is at home for Christmas! You’re the best tonic he could have and I’m sure, vice versa. Nothing else really matters this year. x

aggie Sat 21-Dec-19 10:54:26

Good Morning all , lovely bright dry day here so far , GS was expected early this am , but got at the at 7am to cancel , he is 13 so got better things to do !
Gillybob I am sorry that the bladder nurse was so daft as to not order stuff , did she mention pelvic floor exercises ? They worked for my BIL after surgery
I ordered supplies from A....n and they were cheaper than local

Good Morning All x
A lovely sunny morning here on the Mersey coast and if Urmstongran's right about the sunrise it's the time I woke up, 08.30 ( with the sun ) so I'll follow that from now on. I had wakened earlier to go to the loo at 04.30, felt wide awake then but the cats didn't move so I went back to bed.

Catching up with some cleaning and tidying today as with me having been slightly indisposed I haven't felt like doing much. I might even make some mince pies later. Have some wrapping to do too.

Surgery rang me yesterday to see the GP as a follow-up after having been in hospital. The appointment is for the 30th of which I'm glad about really because I'm embarrassed about ringing the emergency services every time I go into A/F. I think it's a huge anxiety problem that I have considering that my heart works perfectly with no abnormalities found whatsoever. Every test that's been done over the years hasn't detected anything. Bloods/gases you name it are A1.

This is what happens when you're a " stiff upper-lip " person and remain strong for everyone-------something's got to give sooner or later, silly me ! You know your own body.

So pleased to hear Mr Gillybob is doing alright, you always do better once you're home. He'll go from strength to strength now and build up in readiness for next years op/s, good on him. x Poor Gillybob has been so run-down these last few weeks that the body has suffered, in her case her mouth/teeth. It doesn't matter what you look like so long as you're not in pain. x

Take care those of you travelling because of the flood warnings. I wish it would direct itself towards Sydney where my D and family live---that's a worry in itself . sad

Hope everyone's well with coughs and colds easing, so whatever you do with the day, enjoy it and stay well.

vinasol Sat 21-Dec-19 10:36:27

Good morning everyone. I've just joined. I hope everyone has a lovely Saturday. I expect the shops will be a bit manic today. I've a parcel to pick up at Matalan and might buy myself a new fleecy dressing gown whilst there. I'm feeling it a bit chilly these days. Will buy a few bits and pieces that mum wants then will come home and chill.

Pantglas2 Sat 21-Dec-19 09:48:56

Just crossed posts with Gillybob- good that DH is doing so well and keep up your lovely optimistic nature (in spite of your dental problems) flowers

MawB Sat 21-Dec-19 09:46:38

Good morning all from near Bungay. Lovely sunrise here just over the border into Norfolk (that is after getting up in the dark at 6, I am in charge of DGS) but then rain and now...(whisper) it has stopped and there might even be some ☀️!
I have put in a full day’ play and it is still only quarter to ten. Wonder when DD and SIL might be back? ??
Wishing you all a pleasant day, not too busy but just busy enough to feel Christmassy! ?

Pantglas2 Sat 21-Dec-19 09:44:54

Morning all from a glorious north Wales where I’ve been up since seven delivering cards, fetching paper, pegging washing, making tea, putting bins out, prepping kedgeree and now I’m pooped!

Happy anniversary Dragonfly- 51 years is amazing!

Glad to see folks are getting better and hope all stay as well as we can - we’re all so busy at the moment aren’t we, especially Marydoll! I swear more happens to her in a day than happens to me in a month!

gillybob Sat 21-Dec-19 09:41:59

Good morning from the NE coast.

Well my DH is doing very well all things considering. Managing to get around the house on 2 sticks, although we still have a strict “once up and once down” the stairs rule . Bladder nurse has let us down with promised supplies, said she forgot to order them so they will not be with us until 6th January at the earliest. I wouldn’t mind but they cost a small fortune. Never mind .

His appetite is very good (almost back to normal) and he is definitely putting weight back on . He is still in a lot of pain but that will be the case until he has the operations that he should have had many months ago.

My bleedin’ tooth (literally) has reached a whole new level. Had my gums cut on Thursday afternoon above my 2 front teeth to relieve the pressure from an abscess that has formed around the area of the recent root canal procedures. I had stitches and now have a face like the back end of a double decker bus. It is hugely swollen and for anyone who is familiar with The Grinch, I look a bit like “a Who” person, except my left eye is swollen shut too. The pain is nowhere near as bad in my tooth but my face is so hot, swollen and inflamed it’s impossible to get any rest. More antibiotics to see me through “the holidays”.

Definitely putting this one down as a complete “non event” . Haven’t done any shopping, been out anywhere at all, or even had a tiny glass of wine . I am officially a miserable sod.

Huge congrats on your wedding anniversary dragonfly and to anyone else celebrating or just enjoying the good times wine flowers

To those like me, feeling a bit sorry for themselves, sad or poorly I wish with all my heart that we all see some sunshine very soon.

With love to all my wonderful Gransnet friends .

Gillybob xx

Good morning from a damp and overcast Black Country.
It rained incessantly yesterday.

Quite a busy day yesterday. Popped into town. Drove over to Wolverhampton for my hair appointment. I was offered a glass of Prosecco but had to decline! Then to Mums for lunch. Then we both went to visit SIL to see how he was. He seems a lot better, but still getting headaches. (Thank you for all your good wishes) He now has to see what DVLA say about driving.

On the way home I popped into see our new friends we made on holiday in Lindos (they only live 4 miles away) Then home to a chippy supper! phew

Today, food shopping and wrapping of presents I think. We walk into Aldi with our trusty little trolley so we do not have to brave the traffic and car parking.

Oh Marydoll you always keep us entertained with your outings, something always seems to happen! smile

flowers Happy Anniversary Dragonfly hope you and DH have a lovely day together.

Thoughts with gilly and hoping her DH is improving day on day.

BlueSapphire Sat 21-Dec-19 09:39:39

Bit late this morning as I had a bit of a lie-in after yesterday's rush.

Anyway, good morning all from a bright and sunny Northampton. Thank goodness it is not raining any more.

Popped round to a neighbour yesterday with some Christmas goodies to thank them for their help and support since DH died. Was invited in, and they insisted on the three of us putting away a bottle of Prosecco!

Calling in on my oldest friend later this morning to deliver her Christmas present, then hop on the bus into town for one or two things. And then home to a nice steak dinner.

Happy anniversary, Dragonfly!

gma Sat 21-Dec-19 09:38:23

Yippee! It’s the winter solstice today!! So from tomorrow there will be just the tiniest bit more daylight! Ok ..... I appreciate the change is very gradual but it’s psychological for me!! Beautiful sunrise here in Norwich, then rain and now sun again!!
Speaking via FaceTime last evening, to cousin visiting family in Australia, only 60 miles from Sydney and really feeling effect of catastrophic fires. Their house smells of smoke and can see great clouds in distance and it’s getting worse! And it’s very hot. She is very worried as has flight from Sydney to Melbourne booked for new year and then back to Sydney ! Hope to speak to her in next couple of days. Always in our thoughts

Marydoll Sat 21-Dec-19 09:25:32

Thanks, Grammaretto. I did use the station, but the queue was right out into the waiting room ( probably because it's now free) and I couldn't find my Radar key! grin

Nannytopsy Sat 21-Dec-19 09:22:59

DB not DH!

Nannytopsy Sat 21-Dec-19 09:22:28

Morning Mick and his followers. Gleams of sunshine at the moment in Suffolk but it was teeming down a while ago. Lots of very wet fields.
Happy Anniversary Dragonfly. It is my DH & SiL ‘s today too.
I am sitting on the hospital car park. Here for a scan but the expected traffic wasn’t there - I got here 70 minutes early. Ho hum.
DD ,SiL and Granddog arrive at lunchtime so a lovely meal planned for tonight.
Have a good day everyone
