Soop's new kitchen being built while she's absent!

I haven't posted in the Kitchen for a while, things have been very sad here as some of you know. Thank you to all who have sent good wishes, especially those who sent PM's. One GNetter in particular has been a godsend, she knows who she is. I am so grateful to her.
This morning two of DH's cousins called to see us, they brought this little floral display that E.... made from flowers and foliage in her garden. I think it is particularly lovely to receive such a handmade gift.
I am now going to read all the posts I've missed, though I know that soop has been 'away' - glad to know that you are feeling better now.
I heard from Panache about a month ago, her husband's condition had deteriorated and Panache herself was suffering from stomach problems. I think they wish to be quietly together, while supported by staff and friends in their apartment. ??
Yesterday I managed to make pastry which DH rolled out, so I will leave some mince pies in the kitchen ( heavily laced with brandy )

I hope you all had the beautiful winter sunshine today. We did an outside job, liberated the turkey from the butchers (HOW MUCH?! Dare not tell DH!), marzipanned the cake and baked. Also walked the Granddog around the village. Now feeling smug!

soop so pleased to hear that the cats are all now settled especially before the really cold weather starts. Each will have a decent meal and will no longer have to go foraging for food.

N&G you may have forgotten that the dog patrol is on your case and if Sam does not have a decent amount of space I will be in touch with the RSPCA. I hope that Jackson and Cooper have a magical Christmas.

ann I do hope that you, Molly and your GD will be snug as bugs in rugs- it is only one day.

soop the argy bargy was closed down mainly for health reasons. The neighbours were complaining about the smell from the loos and the noise so Environmental Health took over and closed it down. The "scores on the doors" were a minus 10.

We are gathering everything up for the trip tomorrow and will be missing in action until the 28th . I have no idea why we have so much to take down but our large vehicle is crammed to the gills and we still have to squish Sam in.

I have been having fun crocheting the 24 baubles of Christmas ( a Hobbycraft challenge) so Ill leave you with a picture of the first 12 going up on the little boys tree ( I'm not sure Hobbycraft meant for them to go outside but hey ho !! Now I have to do todays and take the wool for tomorrows with me to complete before midnight to finish the challenge !!

Is the Argy Bargy Caff still open?

The feral farm cats...
As some of you may recall, all but one had been trapped and neutered. Sadly, Brodie, the cat who used to come calling, died. Two youngsters were adopted. That left three that the new farm owner wanted off his land. A black youngster, a marmalade and tabby cat finished up in the dining room of an elderly couple. The cats would not come out of hiding. It was decided to re-trap them and take them to a cat santuary in Oban. Howerver, the black cat escaped before the deed was done. Somehow, it made it's way some distance across new territory to a lady who had, some time ago, fed it. It won't enter her home. It has a cosy den next to her chicken coup. She feeds it every day. The remaining two are now with a lady in Oban. She will care for them until they are ready to be re-homed. Sigh! A sensible conclusion to what has been a "worriting" episode.

Part of the delapidated village hall ceiling has collapsed. MacS and others on the committee are assembled (in the car park) to discuss matters.

The fact that the Panaches have not been in touch, is extremely worrying. The only postive is that they are not alone and isolated. They will have support. Please may we hear something before too long.

A heartfelt welcome back to soop you have been very much missed.
I am not in any Christmas spirit but hope very much everyone will enjoy theirs in their own way.
We spent our honeymoon in Cornwall 61 years ago and returned many times, we loved it all, and did some long coastal walks, it all seems a lifetime away now.
May not return now until the festivities are over, my own plans are up in the air, the wheels have come off the rails again sadly.
However I wish you all a very Happy Christmas.

Just been out for a meal with all our family. Lovely to see them all together. Very full now so sitting quietly till it wears off ?
I think we are all really worried about the panaches by now. The only thing that we know is that at least in their new home there will be people around to help if needed. I too was wondering if GNHQ could help but not sure how.

Hello the kitchen and a big welcome back to you, Soop, from the digital wilderness. You have been sorely missed! Hope the bug has gone away!
The weather in Cornwall has been very mixed since we got here with howling winds, and lashing rain, interspersed with periods of bright sun - but not for very long - and the Atlantic has been chucking itself about a lot! We have managed a couple of walks along the coast path and got soaked for our endeavours, but we haven’t been here for a couple of years and I had forgotten how beautiful this area is. Here are a few photos. We are expecting winds of forty miles an hour tonight. And our designated parking space is under a tree! Oh joy!
Concerned for Panache, who has never been incommunicado for as long as this. I don’t suppose GNHQ are in a position to help?
Well, time for me to see if I can get some shuteye with the wind banging stuff about outside. TOYA.

Had a busy week starting last Sunday celebrating my birthday with a lovely meal at The Ivy with my husband.
Now at an airbnb for Christmas with all the family.

I have sent Panache a couple of ordinary emails, but no reply.
I wonder if anyone lives near Pembroke and possibly could find out a little more? Lots of us are very anxious to know.

Cat has gone to the cattery, Granddog is asleep on my chair, DD & SiL have headed off to the airport and we have had a flying visit from DiL and DGC. We shall head up the lane to church for the carol service in a while. Village life!

Oh, my word, thank you for a wonderfully warm welcome back to the sanity of our kitchen. It's a strange and not so funny world out there in the wilderness. I didn't like it one little bit.

As for children writing thank you letters... I have no further comment. In "our day" we did things differently.

I understand that some of you have had a dose of the lurgy. Snap! In the early hours, about a fortnight ago, I awoke for my umpteenth visit to the bathroom. Suddenly, without warning, I began to wretch and could not for the life of me get out of the bed. I thought that I was about to pass out. I called for MacSporran (who sleeps in his chair due to awful night cramps) and eventually he awoke and came to my aid. I wanted to be sick. My legs felt like knitting. After half an hour, with help, I managed to get to the bathroom. I felt nauseous on and off for a further week and some. Even now, I'm not totally "right". So, my heart goes out to one and all who have a share of the bug. It could have been Norovirus (? spelling).

I am hoping that some kind Granspal will tell me how the Panaches are. I would be very grateful for any important updates.

Carillion Good news indeed that your husaband has a date for his surgery.

I've had a pre-op assessment regarding procedure "up the nethers" under a general anaesthetic. Should have procedure within six weeks. Result of look-around will determine whether I need surgery to correct whatever, either in Oban (if not too serious) or Glasgow , if requiring some serious intervention.

I’ve nearly finished the antibiotics “Charley*, leaving a horrible metallic taste in my mouth

Mr B so far has resisted! Given his lowered immune system I am eternally grateful for that.
