Right, kitcheners, get busy. You know the routine. The tin of flapjacks to keep you going is in the corner with a kettle. The water's already on.

I've just popped in quickly as weve had a stream of visitors and, from feeling ahead of myself this morning, I'm all behind now!!!!

I would like to send love and best wishes to everyone in the kitchen.

Feelingmyage55 Tue 24-Dec-19 20:30:14

My best wishes to you all whether you are looking forward to tomorrow or looking forward to it being over. It is a complicated time of year and some folk are more easily pleased than others. I wish for you all a peaceful day and that you all feel well enough to enjoy it. Fish and chips for tea here as there are a lot of turkey days looming. soop Thank you so much for this lovely thread and thank you to you all as I enjoy the many and varied posts. ?

Doodle Tue 24-Dec-19 20:24:48

May well not pop in tomorrow so want to wish you all a Merry Christmas. Hope you all have some festive cheer and those on their own remember their kitchen chums are thinking of them.
I feel very lucky to count you all as my friends and will raise a glass to you all at lunchtime (I may have had one or two before then tchblush)
I thank you for your kindness this year and your company.
Hope Santa brings you something nice.
He has a box of chocs for me (I know coz I saw it before it got wrapped) ⛄️????❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ tchsmile

Nannyfaraway Tue 24-Dec-19 19:14:45

Wishing everyone a Happy Christmas. The whole family are here including my mil and little Grandaughter.
My eldest daughter and son in law are going to cook the Christmas Dinner

cornergran Tue 24-Dec-19 18:54:35

Christmas wishes and love to you all. Carols from Kings recorded earlier playing here. Visits from neighbours and chats with far away friends today. A contended sort of day. I hope everyone can relax and enjoy Christmas tomorrow, whatever the shape of their day may be.

Nannytopsy Tue 24-Dec-19 18:47:19

I wish everyone the best Christmas possible for them.
???

Nannytopsy Tue 24-Dec-19 18:46:25

A slice off the gammon, a jacket potato and open the pickles!
A glass too, once we have done the Santa run with two new bikes!

Galen Tue 24-Dec-19 18:29:21

Beans on toast for me

Lins1066 Tue 24-Dec-19 18:09:29

Anneliese ?
I hope you feel better soon Charleygirl.
I am watching the Carols from Kings, it is bliss.
soop I love fish pie, enjoy. I had an email from a friend earlier who said she and her husband were going to their DD's for fish pie. Hot pork sandwiches for us with stuffing and lashings of Apple sauce.
Happy Christmas/Nadolig Llawen everyone. ??

Anneliese63 Tue 24-Dec-19 17:18:22

I’ve not posted for quite a long time, as November was pretty bad for us. DHs condition is developing quickly, so this will be a very different Christmas for us. We have decided to spend tomorrow quietly here, though I know the family will come round at some stage. I know many of you have problems and my thoughts and prayers go to you. But for all those who are spending time with their families, particularly their little ones, I truly hope you have a lovely day. We are fortunate that we have many happy memories. tchsmilewine

GrannyGravy13 Tue 24-Dec-19 16:45:52

Just a quick visit to wish you all a peaceful Christmas Day, We are home alone this evening and shall wake up tomorrow just the two of us for the first time ever.

We always had my Mum, stepfather and sister, then the children and GC, it will seem so quiet.

We shall be visited by very pregnant daughter, her partner and our Grandson first thing, then we will visit DS, DIL and GC, before going to middle son and his family for late lunch (after the queens speech).

However you are spending tomorrow, I wish you well ??

Charleygirl5 Tue 24-Dec-19 16:13:34

soopI am fortunate- I do not like bubbly or mince pies.

If Tara came home now I think we would have a sneaky afternoon nap. I am exhausted doing nothing.

soop Tue 24-Dec-19 16:08:18

Charleyg It will be quiet. Peace will reign. We'll light the fire and hunker down. When we open the bubbly (on special offer) we shall raise a glass of cheer to one and all.

I am about to have a wee. My umpteenth of the day. You wanted to know that...tchgrin Then I shall make a pot of tea and nibble on a hot mince pie. Simply looking at such a feast has made my waistband expand. Ho hum.

I shall be back with you again tomorrow. TOYA tchsmile

Charleygirl5 Tue 24-Dec-19 15:51:42

I think it just as well I am on my own with no family because I have had a streaming cold since Saturday. I have now developed a cough but no doubt I will live.

I cooked spag bol yesterday, my first meal for days ( I have been dining on prawns) the former was I think the best I have cooked- admittedly I overdid the wine both cooking and assisting the food down so it will be a repeat performance this evening.

TV has not been good so I have been catching up with recorded programmes.

soop I hope you and macS have a quiet day tomorrow.

TOYA

soop Tue 24-Dec-19 15:15:51

Galen What are you implying? You cannot go into a care home. An upmarket sheltered apartment maybe. But not yet awhile. We're having a special fish pie tomorrow. Followed by boozy pud and a dollop of brandy butter.

Galen Tue 24-Dec-19 15:05:14

On my own as I will be until Boxing Day when darling daughter, sil and the three dgc will be joining me for a couple of hours for a buffet lunch. They can’t stay as sil is on call the following day and has to be at his computer.
I’ve got myself a luxury frozen turkey dinner from Oakham farm foods for tomorrow. I’ve decided to try them for frozen foods as I can’t manage to cook any more.
I feel a care home looming nearer although I really don’t want to move.

soop Tue 24-Dec-19 14:52:06

Susan56 My love to you and I hope that you too have joy this Christmas.

Nannyfaraway Given half a chance, I would happily sit on the floor and play games all afternoon with you darling granddaughter.

Doodle I am flabbergasted. I shall catch up with the Argy staff on the other forum.

Izabella That sunshine will do you a power of good. Enjoy!

mrshat corner and Grannygravy13 All good wishes and love.

It is here that I thank you ALL most sincerely for your support and friendship throughout yet another year. You lot are an important part of my life.
This is a Season of mixed emotions. I know that many of you will not be carefree and in convivial company in spite of all the hype.
We two will be spending our time together, here at home. The family will be raising the roof several hundred miles away. The fact that they are thriving is a blessing and the best gift we could ever hope for.
For all those who have no family or home or livelihood, I feel sad and depressed that I'm unable to make a real difference. Life was never fair. It is what it is. We do our best and hope for a kinder senario in the year ahead.
Oh dear! Now I'm in tears. As I said, it's that time of year.

I shall return later this afternoon. I'm going to watch Wallace and Grommit. It always puts a smile on my face.

soop Tue 24-Dec-19 14:29:38

It is mighty good to be back, dragonfly I am sending loving and healing vibes to you together with good wishes for a peaceful festive season.

N&G The crochet work is marvellous. you are a very talented lady. Had I thought about it sooner, I'd have asked you to crochet me a festive pretend boob. wink

All good wishes to you, gransal. I'm delighted that you continue to pop into the kitchen whenever you're passing.

Charleyg Are you joking? The Argy Caff cannot possibly close. Even I tchwink have been known to wipe my feet on my way out. I liked the staff. Always good for a laff.

Nannytopsy It's perfectly acceptable to feel smug at this time of the year. Us lot are turbo-charged and need more than a pat on the back for all our efforts.

Lins1066 I agree that a gift that is made with love, is the best gift of all. I hope very much that you and your family will have a kinder year in store.
Thank you for news of the Panaches. They will not be alone. Their house move was absolutely the right thing to undertake, in spite of the huge upheaval.
I can smell the brandy-laced mince pies from here. I shall barge ahead of the queue. tchblush

Izabella Tue 24-Dec-19 08:44:44

Good evening from the antipodes. Just in from an evening game of croquet which is first for CH and I on Christmas Eve ! However most enjoyable. A few more pictures taken during our travels southwards through. NZ

cornergran Mon 23-Dec-19 20:30:47

Evening All. Had a good day across the bridge with our friend, sadly spoiled by the Arctic conditions in the restaurant we often use. Why do they do it? Comp, aunts fell on deaf ears. We left quickly today, shame, still our friends home was warm so we soon thawed out.

Safe trip n&g, sounds as if you need a shoe horn for the car. That’s a very pretty arrangement lins, looks as if it was made with love.

Excellent news about the three cats soop, one worry less. Oh ann, it sounds as if life isn’t being kind. It’s a strange time of year. Stay warm, relax and spoil yourself when you can.

We’re aiming for a social day with neighbours tomorrow followed by a carol concert in a local church. With luck it will all happen. I hope to be back tomorrow so for now wishing those I won’t see then the best Christmas that can be.

TOYA

mrshat Mon 23-Dec-19 20:01:07

I read but seldom post - however, I must welcome you back soop; it is good to have you back on board! flowers.
Happy Christmas to everyone - every good wish for good health, happiness and peace for now and the New Year. tchsmile

Doodle Mon 23-Dec-19 19:36:26

lins so sorry I have missed somewhere along the line mention of the sadness you speak of. I am so sorry that there is sadness in your life and hope you are ok.

We can only hope the panaches are being well cared for.

soop, unfortunately the Argy was closed down due to food poisoning (among other things ?????) and alas is no more. The lease was up and lemon decided not to renew so we have abandoned the Argy to fall into disrepair (like it was when we moved in).
If you would like to catch up with lemon, marydoll and the rest of the Argy mob, they are currently enjoying life on the Christmas Ball thread and would love to see you there.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 23-Dec-19 19:26:58

Thank you for the update on Panache lins, I will continue to hold her and her husband in my thoughts and prayers.

TOYA ??

Nannyfaraway Mon 23-Dec-19 19:17:21
