Soop's new kitchen being built while she's absent!

carillion hope the ward/room is nice and they make your DH comfortable. The waiting is the worst. Try and keep your mind occupied. When my DH had his triple bypass many many years ago I spent hours walking round a small park opposite the hospital. I expect there were a few people who wondered what on earth I was doing but it helped being moving rather than sitting. Take care x

Unless anyone knows the panaches real names I think we will just have to give up on trying to find out if they are ok. Not much we could do anyway but it’s worrying.

Doodle Your comment regarding the Panaches makes sense. There is nothing that we can do except wait and hope for the best.

Party tonight. I am about to titivate with my hair and apply colourless nail polish. I hardly ever do the latter. As this will be a special occasion, I shall make the extra effort.

I's awfully blustery. That should muss my hair up nicely. We shall drive to our pal's home. A taxi service is arranged for homecoming. This means that our usual visit to the care home possibly won't go ahead tomorrow. At some time during the day we shall need to return for the car. Not very often that such a thing happens. Our friend will understand.

DH has a bad back after all the lifting of DGC so I was out and about on my own today - actually I sometimes prefer it as I can then go as the fancy takes me.

Doodle I (and some others) know the Panaches real names but I’m not sure how that can help? The last email I had from Mrs P was that they were spending a quiet time together. I’m not sure what else we can do.

Doodle and Bellanonna I also know Panache’s name. But I can also see that it won’t help. Even if someone who lives in that locality knows possible housing, data protection wouldn’t allow them to make enquiries. I feel so sorry, as Panache was so very supportive when DH was first diagnosed.

On a personal note, I am relieved that our central heating has now been sorted by our very helpful plumber. It wasn’t anything serious, more complicated, but as it took all morning to fix, I anticipated a huge bill! Not so, it shows that using a family run firm recommended by a friend is the way to go!

Dear kitchen friends, thank you so much for your kind thoughts and wonderful words of support. A quick up-date.

We managed to pass the test of bringing all relevant paperwork and test results with us to the hospital; no mean feat in France. The staff are lovely and DH's French gets him by in most things although he struggles with the med/tech vocabulary. Doodle his room is very nice, especially the bathroom...he has a thing about bathrooms.

Was sad to leave him but didn't let him feel my concern, I hope.

I've just booked in to the hotel which is only three minutes walk away. The staff there are very kind.

It seems his operation will be around 3.00pm tomorrow and although I've been told I can visit at 7.00pm I intend to 'loiter' earlier than that. TOYA xxxxxx

Of course! I have my numbers wrong, oh dear, the operation is at 1.00pm and will last about two to three hours. Xx

Thank you for your replies. I think you are all right. Even knowing the panaches names won’t help. I remember them being very private and although well meant, I am sure any inquiry would only be an intrusion into their private lives. It would just be nice to know they are ok.

I think you’re all right, it would be very intrusive to try to find Mr and Mrs panache. I believe many of us have had private correspondence with panache in the past, via pm and personal email. She would reply to messages if she chose to. For myself I am accepting of that.

We’re trying to get back to normal this week, whether or not we feel like it, so I had better try for sleep. It will be morning soon enough.

At least the cold germs are passing here although I am left with a sinus infection which caused me a few problems yesterday when I blew my nose too vigorously and came perilously close to fainting from the ensuing dizziness !! If you knew me you would know I'm not a 'fainter' so for a few moments it was very unpleasant especially as I was home alone. Luckily a lie down sorted that out although I was left with a deaf ear for the evening .

But we plan on getting out to blow the cobwebs away this morning regardless.

Carillion My thoughts have been with you and your husband throughout the day. I would like to think that you can feeling the love that are sending. We are with you in thought.

N&G Sounds like you had an attack of vertigo. Take things easy. We need to get you well. Thank you for the joyful photo of "our boys". Their smiles lift the spirits sky high.

Our pal's 80th birthday party was perfect. Thirty guests and the most delicious food and wine, all thanks to our pal's dear wife - a retired Captain in the army catering corps. There was so much laughter and banter and getting together with friends old and new.

I had three glasses of Champagne and a glass of water followed by three wee drams of 15 year old malt. I felt almost as sober as when when we arrived on leaving at 11:30. I think that I "paced myself" and, with the arm of both my MacSporran and the new fun minister from the village church (for support from the taxi to the front door) I behaved in a lady-like manner until I fell into bed and slept soundly.

Had someone enquired...would/could you have done what your friend did? The answer would be - NO! In fact, the very thought of it would have given me a total nervous breakdown.

Although I was wearing both hearing aids throughout the evening, at times, the background hum was a trifle distracting. At one point I was unable to read a lady's lips as she told a long, long story. I had therefore to resort to nod-craftiness. I nodded in agreement throughout the conversation, without actually having little clue what the speaker was on about.

Carillion the surgery will be over now and he will be recovering. At least when he returns to his own room it will be peaceful there. The hard work will start tomorrow with the physio visiting. No doubt he will be on his feet and hopefully just having postoperative pain.

Tara has been totally neglected. Not quite an RSPA reporting job but veering towards it.

I was out when she came home yesterday. I arrived home at the late hour of 18.45 and there was a worried little face looking at me coming in the front door.

I was exhausted having had a busy day. Supper sorted I sat down to watch TV and promptly fell asleep- woke at 21.30 hours to discover I had inadvertently locked her in the kitchen. We retired to bed, me reading, Tara sleeping until she woke me at 07.30 am at the same time as Alexa Echo.

Will I be punished by a late arrival this evening? Probably.
