Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark , cold and dry outside here in Brackley .
Usual Saturday trips to Bicester and Buckingham on the buses.
Also get bulk of Xmas cards done and posted , but also laundry.
And hoping this morning as still without TV , that its fixed by the time I get home , lot of angry residents as well.
Mick

Morning all from a frosty South Notts. Chilly with white skies.
I plan a quiet day with the giant crossword and just a little housework.
I am inordinately pleased with a flat-pack storage mantelpiece which I got from a budget supermarket. It is now in place. I've wanted one for a few years and I'll have somewhere to put my Christmas cards at last. To my traditional mind a sitting room is not complete without a mantelpiece as it gives a lovely focal point.
Best wishes to all those with worries and I hope the gillybobs continue to get better.

Good morning from a crisp, cold Essex. What lovely, heartwarming news from Gillybob and sure she never thought she would see this day! Shows what all those prayers from Gransnetters can do!
Marydoll I hope you have the best time as your thoughts go back to 8 months ago. Life can really turn on a sixpencesmile. Keep us updated with adventures, unless it involves the arm of the law, ?‍♂️and then we can read about you in the papers!!
Thoughts, as always, to those with troubles or worries flowersxxx

Good news GIllybob

Nannylovesshopping Sat 30-Nov-19 09:50:30

Such good news Gillybob always in my thoughts and prayers

Auntieflo Sat 30-Nov-19 09:36:52

Good morning Michael, Annie, and all.
So good to hear upbeat news from Gillybob. Like others I did wonder if I had missed a post from her yesterday.
It is cold and frosty here, but as I haven't poked my nose outside yet, don't know how cold.
Usual Saturday for us, coffee with friends and maybe a small shopping expedition. Nothing vital, says me, until confronted by the shelves, then you know, you just have to have it, in case.
Marydoll, with all your alarums and excursions, we won't settle until you have landed in NY. Did you do something similar with your eyebrows once before?
I had a lovely afternoon, yesterday, in our charity shop, all Christmassy, and our customers saying how nice it was.
To all feeling poorly or under the weather, take care, and have a good day.

Gilly - so pleased to hear your good news about DH what a joy for you all. Just keep hanging in there and I'm sure everything will turn out well. Sorry to hear about your dental problems too, it's a pain - literally, hopefully it won't be too bad until your next visit. Try and enjoy your weekend - take care.

Good Morning from a very cold Black Country. It is such a hard frost it looks almost like it has snowed!

Had a lovely day with my friend in Worcester yesterday, it was very busy due to the Christmas market. Only thing I bought though was lunch smile. It was so crowded on the train on the way back we had to stand all the way. Luckily it is only a 30 minute journey.

We are off to Malvern later. Book into a Hotel, mooch round the town, early evening meal, then to see a play starring Robert Lindsay (he of 'Wolfie' fame) . The play is called Prism.

Hopefully, if it is not raining Sunday morning we will have a walk on the Malvern Hills.

Hope you have a wonderful time Marydoll and don't get into too many scrapes please smile

So relieved that your DH's recovery is progressing in the right direction gilly it must be a weight off your mind, even though there is still a way to go Love and thoughts continue to be sent your way.

Curlywhirly Sat 30-Nov-19 09:19:38

Oh Gillybob our posts have crossed - so pleased to hear your good news, progress at last. Hopefully you can now relax a little, have a lovely weekend. X

Good morning from a VERY frosty Cheshire. Went to Cheshire Oaks, our shopping outlet yesterday, it was absolutely manic, with cars bumper to bumper all day trying to get onto the bulging car parks (we were ok as we arrived at 8.45am, well before the car parks were full). Spent all day there with 3 of my dearest workmates/best friends, and bought quite a few Christmas presents, all with 20% or 30% off the price. Even managed to buy my own Christmas present from my husband (needed a new black handbag and saved him the trouble of choosing it!). As it's so frosty this morning, may empty the freezer and box food up and place on garden table for an hour, whilst freezer is being defrosted, done this may times and the food stays frozen. Hope Marydoll has a brilliant holiday and that Mr Gillybob continues to improve. Have a lovely chilly weekend everyone.

A fresh good morning all from a clear, blue north Wales- so didn’t want to leave that fleece duvet to fetch a paper this morning but the trot did me good!

Just scanning tv pages for Wales v Baa-baas game this afternoon and will make kedgeree for brunch soon. Hope Marydoll has a lovely break and everyone has a lovely weekend with good news aplenty x

Good morning from the NE coast where, as Harri said up thread it is fffffrrrrreeeeezing with a hard frost. ?

Apologies for missing yesterday’s thread but by the time I got turned around it seemed more like “good evening” than good morning. Early dentist appointment where he has packed the hole in my half finished root canal with more sedative . Dreading the next appointment on Thursday but it has to be done. I really don’t want to lose a front tooth. It seems to have settled a bit but still very painful when anything hot or cold touches it .

Massive news from ICU where they removed DH’s tracheostomy tube altogether and he is now breathing for himself 24 hours a day with the help of nasal oxygen . I can hardly believe it. They are very conscious of removing every possible line of infection to give his white cells the best chance of fighting. So now all he has left in is an arterial line, one other cannula, his feeding tube and a catheter which is amazing considering how many lines he had in earlier in the month.
His voice is still very weak and he has to kind of press on a plastic bung/button which is over the tracheostomy hole or else the air just escapes . They tell me this will heal itself in a few weeks . He is beginning to look almost normal again although he has lost a considerable amount of weight (around 3 stones or more) and has crazy long hair (he still has masses of hair....a million times more than me grrrrr). He is still very confused and suffering on/off delirium which again they tell me is quite common in people who have been so poorly in ICU for so long . I hate to think of him suffering. I think they are keen to get things moving very quick as they say they influx of flu (against which he has not been vaccinated) and norovirus within the hospital puts him at a huge risk.

Well Marydoll I hope you have an amazing time in New York . How wonderful for you .

I did a very similar thing to you last year and accidentally sprayed my favourite honey coloured suede boots with a black suede spray . I scrubbed and scrubbed them with suede cleaner and a rough brush and they are almost back to normal albeit a slightly darker shade . Grrrrr

Glad you are still enjoying the Spanish sunshine Urmstongran I confess to being a teensy bit [jealous] .

To all those with celebrations and happy times ahead I hope you have a wonderful time . Happiness has been in short supply around here lately .

For those feeling sad, or poorly I hope you feel better soon let’s hope and pray for a huge turn around in 2020 smile

To all those sending their love, prayers and best wishes to my DH I am sure they are all working . Thank you all so very much .

Love Gilly xx

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. A hard frost in South Yorkshire but heralding a clear day. Nothing much to do except a bit of ironing today. Kept awake last night with a pain in my wrist - no idea what that was all about. Old age I suppose. Have a good day folks.

Urmstongran Sat 30-Nov-19 08:29:31

Good morning everyone from Malaga. I feel like Rip van Winkle! I went to bed before 11pm and woke at 9am. Must have been that long, enjoyable stroll into Torremolinos yesterday afternoon!

Happy holiday Marydoll I hope you have the time of your life. Relax and try to find time to update us - I can’t wait!

Your Christmas outfit sounds smart Yiayia and you haven’t ‘gone on a bit’. Compared to me you are positively reticent!
?

No post yesterday from our gillybob I hope all’s well.

Hope your tv gets sorted Mick it must be so annoying for everyone by now.

Are you a newbie earlybird? If so, welcome!

Hope Saturday is kind to us all whether we have plans (like Marydoll ?) or none. x

vena11 Sat 30-Nov-19 08:26:26

Good morning from a cold dry Bristol what a lovely change from all that rain.
We had a lovely lunch out yesterday we decided to take the bus but had to change in the centre, traffic was terrible, there was a Graduations ceremony at the Cathedral and a climate change protest, we had to walk, well it did us good and that is what climate change protesters want is for us to walk more but I do wonder how they got there.
I hope your flight goes well Marydoll enjoy.
Everyone else I hope you have a great weekend and hope to hear from Gillybob

EllanVannin Sat 30-Nov-19 08:17:47

Good Morning All x

A heavy frost last night with roofs and cars white. No wonder the cats aren't keen on venturing out so instead of me standing holding the door open I've got the back kitchen window open so that they can get out that way, but it's causing a bloomin' draft round my ankles as I type.

The gulls are squawking overhead, what a din. Why can't we have birdsong ? If it's not them it's the crows. Not exactly calming hahahaha.

I have a bit of washing to do and although it'll be sunny and dry there's no breeze around but it'll save it hanging around indoors even if it just smells fresh. I'll see anyway.
More parcels due today which means me not going far though I do want to go and get a couple of books of stamps in readiness for the volume of cards being sent.

Mick, I hope the TV gets fixed for you I couldn't be without mine for too long.

Safe journey for Marydoll and have a good time spending, I would ! Macy's for starters. Don't be joining in the skating at Times Square either.

Hope the Gillybobs are ticking along nicely xx.

Mind how you go everyone if you've got the frost/fog but all have a good day.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 30-Nov-19 08:16:52

NfkDumpling Sat 30-Nov-19 07:58:44

Why are you worried about the condition of your coat Marydoll? Surely one of the reasons for your trip was to buy a new one?
