Supernatural experiences - do you believe?

Tedber, thank you for your post. I’ve not had anything personally, that can’t be explained. We do have spiritual experiences all the time, but it’s explained by the Bible, and the Holy Spirit. I heard a story from my mother about an older relative, that on her death, there was a halo over her. Our own daughter saw Jesus when she was 5 years old. We were at a church service, and people were praying and calling to Him. My daughter asked what they were doing, and we said we’re waiting for Jesus, and she said, “ He’s over there, He’s been there for ages” , pointing to what we just saw as an empty space! Your experience with the grave could well be from God.

Readymeals I wasn’t talking about ghosts being worshipped. I said God instructs us to have no other gods before Him. He also instructs us not to get involved with mediums and spirits, and people who practice magic arts. If you go to a Spiritualist church, these are who you’re dealing with. Satan is at the back of this, and that’s the delusion.
Leviticus 19:31 “ do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them”

Also, they call it a Spiritualist church. A church is a place of worship. Who are they worshipping? The spirits.

Well...there you go endlessstrife YOU have had experience (albeit second hand) that you can't explain either....which is what I started off saying.... There are some things that cannot be explained, no matter how much logic or science comes into it!

Ok I get it endlessstrife you don't question, you just believe? Not knocking you in any way. I think I just 'question' maybe a bit too much.

Tedber What wasn’t explained? My elderly relative was a Christian. My daughter saw Jesus, who we were praying would come. We were delighted she saw Him, we’re not all susceptible to seeing Him, but many Christians have. We all have different gifts.

Can believe in God without believing in Satan , spirits, or life after death.
Can believe in Satan, spirits, or life after death without believing in God.

A man or a woman who is a medium or a spiritist must surely be put to death. They shall be stoned; their blood is upon them.

Do you believe all The Bible says ?

It’s good to question, I did for a few years before I became a Christian. Could I just ask that you speak to God and avoid anything else?

Well, for what's it worth, I'm a confirmed non-believer (and an atheist). I believe when you're dead, you're dead and that's it. There may well be things which happen which we don't understand, and I understand why some people may wish to attribute them to some kind of supernatural being or force, but I don't. And I find endlessstrife's comments about atheists a little unsettling, to be honest...and not very 'Christian' either!

Blondiescot totally understand and this was not a post to encourage people to believe in anything or to change their minds about what they feel. It is just that IF, you ever experience certain things...that cannot be explained rationally no matter how much you try, it does make you think! If you haven't - you haven't...end of!

I am a Christian too, but I have had a few strange experiences. I lived in a shared house once that had the most peculiar atmosphere and I never wanted to be alone in that house. When my Mum died it took a while before we could sell her house and during that time, we could feel her presence was still there, until one day, she had gone, just like that!
Another time, when I was working in Crete, my future husband and I went to visit an abandoned Minoan village in the hills called Lato and the atmosphere was so strange - it felt as if the inhabitants were still there and had just popped out for a moment! We were expecting an old Minoan to come round the corner at any moment, it just felt so alive!

I have a theory that our surroundings can sometimes 'capture' some of the things that we humans generally imagine to be transient, and that the more sensitive of us can perhaps occasionally pick up on on this, leading to us seeing, sensing or feeling past happenings in that place.

There is a place near to where we live - very rural and isolated - where I get exactly the same feeling that you mention experiencing in Crete.

QuaintIrene we will all find out one day, which ( to a curious person like me) is intriguing and exciting.

Tedber, there is one thing I suppose some might describe as "supernatural" in some way. When I was very young (I don't think I'd even started school at the time), we went to visit my aunt, who lived near Watford. While we were there, we went on a day trip to St Albans and my aunt wanted to take us to a particular restaurant for lunch. When we got out of the car, I told everyone I knew the way, described the building to a T and took them straight to it - although I'd never set foot in the place in my life. Apparently everyone was amazed at this...

Absolutely, I have had prophetic dreams.
No need to justify myself this is just fact.

My mother was in hospital in London and one of my four siblings or I always made sure someone was with her at all times. Mums room, which was on the 9th floor, looked directly out to Big Ben. I had a collection of watches with different colour straps and one Saturday whilst getting ready for my daily visit I pulled out five watches which to my amazement had all stopped at 7.12. As there are five children including myself I took this to be a sign of something yet to come. A few days later when returning from work I noticed the small travel clock in my study had also stopped at 7.12.
On the following Saturday morning I received a call from the hospital to say a turn had been taken for the worse and I needed to get there ASAP. We were all there and stayed with her all day and the hospital were kind enough to move her to a private room. As the evening drew in she was still with us and I took the opportunity to collect a cup of tea for everyone. Whilst at the tea urn my brother came rushing our to say she was going. Dashing back in it was like a light shone through the window and took her, which was very emotional. Looking out at Big Ben the time was exactly 7.12. I often wonder who came to collect her hoping it was my dear Dad.

The watchmaker couldn’t understand it when I took all the watchs in for new batteries some of which had been fairly new.

I have had many spiritual experiences of different kinds. I have had amazing 'dreams' in which I have seen my beloved grandmother many times, seen Jesus, and seen an event yet to happen. I have had a near death experience, I have smelt my mothers perfume in my home so strongly one night after she had died [Tweed again]. I am a Christian. I believe in the Resurrection.

I've had too many more experiences/heard too much evidence to recount here and am not prepared to have deeply moving, uplifting and wonderful experiences ridiculed by those who have not experienced anything similar...yet say they have explanations for everything. No one knows.

Surely the intelligent and honest answer to the question is 'I don't know'...because we don't. We don't know everything, there are many things beyond our understanding. Even the most intelligent, greatest minds do not know it all. It is arrogance to say we do.

We know our own truth and experiences, unique to us, no one else. We can't judge or speak for other people.

Spirit certainly does exist. I’ve had too many spirit connections and experiences to mention. There's nothing evil about it whatsoever. Yes there are devils workers out there too which I wouldn’t go into on this platform but Spirit visiting us is a wonderful thing if we are lucky/blessed enough to experience it. It gives us comfort to know that we go “back home” as I call it when we shuffle off this mortal coil and rejoin our loved ones. I have no doubt whatsoever as I’ve had so much evidence from spirit.

There is a saying "the more we know the less we know".
I have had some strange experiences, particularly after the deaths of my parents and I would love to believe that they are somewhere together watching over me. But I really do not know.

Various things through the years; reaching out to stop a child knocking something over, before they even moved, but I had seen it spill; knowing where something, in a place I had never been to before, and so on. My daughter went to a well respected medium, who related conversations from years previously, then brought my father through, recognisably by referring to a joke he had told her when she was five. He also told her that he had been to see his great grandchildren, (her sister's children). They had also done the conversation with thin air when they were tiny - all three of them, and in different houses.

My mother died in hospital several years ago and when my husband and I got back home we were either side of the bed pulling a curtain each and I said "there will be another bright star in heaven tonight" at that moment a star shot straight across the sky and my husband and I looked at each other in amazement! Neither of us were religious - coincidence? I like to think not!

there was a time when no-one would have believed metal boxes would fly in the sky or that we would travel to the moon safely. Absence of proof is not proof of absence.
I am really enjoying this thread too and wish there was some place we could report or research these things so they can be investigated properly.
Several small things have happened to me, one thing that always gets me is just how many people die when their relatives are out of the room, it's more than co-incidence and suggests a deliberate move on their part.
It was really my really inspiring mum who convinced me about ghosts, she was a really strong, not easily intimidated woman (which was lovely) and went on holiday with her sister to a landmark trust house in Branscome, Devon, called Margells. They knew about the ghost at the house but weren't worried, unsure whether to believe or not they weren't worried about it. But whilst they were there they heard/felt several things, I'll post a link to a full blog post I wrote about it a while ago on the society for the protection of ancient buildings. On the last night mum & sis stayed at the cottage they slept in twin beds in the same room that had a beautiful medieval wall painting. My aunt said to mum, 'I wish you'd stop snoring, I'm trying to get some sleep here!' mum replied, 'I've been lying awake listening to that!' it instantly confirmed their belief in spirits. Mum said 'if you stop that noise we'll go in the morning and never come back!' and the snoring stopped and they went never to return. They both had the feeling that the ghost just wanted the place to itself.
