There was a great monologue by Alan Bennett some years ago talking about fashionable names. The residents of the care home were all called Albert, Walter, Ethel, Maud etc only to be replaced years hence by Darren, Chardonnay and the like. Hilarious!!

Doesn't really surprise me as my mum always strove for originality and was disappointed in my choice of kids' names as she regarded them as common. I would say more 'popular' than 'common'
