Like Grannymosh I love white bread, but eat whole meal for its 'health benefits'. Sigh.

Mashed potato is right up there.

I like bread and marg with sugar on it.

Another cottage/shepherd's pie fan here. I do the meat in the slow cooker with frozen casserole veg so it takes care of itself until it's time for the lovely buttery mash to go on top.

I don't top with grated cheese but I do when it's fish pie. Not sure why.

Charleygirl gringrin

MawB grin your dog has unusual tastes, or will she eat anything? (rather like a spaniel we had years ago).

We had a M&S pie last night with mashed potatoes, peas and extra gravy and very good it was too.
The first time we've bought one but it may not be the last!

Callistemon Wed 27-Nov-19 11:23:27

Ooh yes, Lancashire Hotpot pudding

Patticake123 Wed 27-Nov-19 11:26:59

Shepherd’s pie.

Pinkrinse Wed 27-Nov-19 11:29:33

Stew and dumplings.

Scribbles Wed 27-Nov-19 11:29:54

Cheese on thick, squidgy toast with HP Sauce. Mmmmmm...

MawB Wed 27-Nov-19 11:30:39

Callistemon - Hattie will eat anything. grin
As a greyhound in kennels I expect she was not over fed, as racing hounds are very lean, but oh my goodness she is making up for it now!
I think she likes eating only second to sleeping.

One meal I enjoy in a pub in Banbury on occasions as its a filler is the following Bubble & Squeak, Fried Egg, Baked Beans and cold ham.
On the ready made microwave range with brown sauce for taste Corn Beef Hash.

MawB Wed 27-Nov-19 11:36:54

Oh that reminds me Mick - corned beef hash! Mmmm!

whywhywhy Wed 27-Nov-19 11:39:28

Egg and home made chips in a good old fashioned chip pan.x

Charleygirl5 Wed 27-Nov-19 11:39:52

Maw I am so pleased that Hattie has landed on all four paws now. I did not realise she loved food so much- rather different from kennel food- the extras that is, whether acquired legitimately or not!

whywhywhy Wed 27-Nov-19 11:40:22

Corned beef, leek and potato pie with chips and brown sauce. x

Lupin Wed 27-Nov-19 12:02:42

Cauliflower and broccoli cheese topped with sliced potato scattered with more cheese.
Corned beef hash accompanied by thyme roasted beetroot.
M&S lamb moussaka- the Bistro pub one with a helping of their layered microwave veg.
Toast or crumpets with Lurpak and Marmite.

bigmama1960 Wed 27-Nov-19 12:04:30

Poached eggs on hot buttered toast

JackyB Wed 27-Nov-19 12:16:00

Most of the above.

- marmite on toast
- rice pudding
- crumpets
- anything on toast actually

- also I did bangers and mash the other day. If I'm on my own

- a bowl of semolina

Gonegirl Wed 27-Nov-19 12:31:02

MawB Hattie is so gorgeous. ?

Craftycat Wed 27-Nov-19 12:40:22

I cook all our food from scratch- I love cooking but my comfort food is a fish finger sandwich!! I keep a packet in freezer for those days when nothing else will hit the spot.

GeorgyGirl Wed 27-Nov-19 12:51:09

Toast with best butter, porridge oats and chocolate.

GeorgyGirl Wed 27-Nov-19 12:51:41

Conker Wed 27-Nov-19 13:12:17

Dippy egg and soldiers ?

Greengage Wed 27-Nov-19 13:18:58

Heinz baked beans on toast for me. I lived in the happy ignorance that this was everyone's number one comfort food!!! How wrong could I be?!
