I don’t agree with Corbyn on much but I think he’s right on this one about the Royal family and all their parasitic hangers on.

Elected head of state? Elected by whom? From which group of people-the same group of ‘economical with the truth’ people who head our political parties? What purpose would this serve?
Surely no tourists would visit England to see where any of that shower lived, but imagine the expenses bill that would arise when they tried to start their own pageantry!

And dissolve the House of Lords when they are at it, what a lot of money that would save.
Half of them don’t stay once they have signed in to get the money and the other half fall asleep, and we are paying for that, I can think of many things that money could be better spent on.

I agree that we need a slimmed down elected Upper House.

The number in the Royal Family who are paid to do work from the Sovereign Grant has been slimmed down and I think the word parasitic is a vile one to use about anyone.

Is it possible to have a non-political head of state ? Would they be wanted as head of the commonwealth? No.

We have a non-political Head of State (well, non-partisan) and no, the Commonwealth would not want just any Tom, Dick or Harriet as their Head.

Has anyone looked at the alternative? Candidates for 'Presidency' would be from , or similar to, this bunch of incompetents who are currently trying run the country - and I include ALL MPs and Civil Servants

Surely, this can hardly surprise anyone? All monarchies have Socialists and other left wing parties that would prefer a republic and a president to a Queen or King.

I have no idea what the procedure would be for ending a monarchy, short of a revolution, but it certainly cannot be a decision that can be made by any political party alone.

Chewbacca He hasn't claimed that it is his decision to make. He answered a question honestly about his own beliefs. He is not a dictator, even in his own party and this is unlikely to be on his list of priorities.
Our system does need serious reform, starting with the House of Lords.

People will step over the homeless on their way to the polling station where they will vote for a party will increase their number. They cannot imagine themselves being in that position but it really can happen to anyone.

At one time, I would have agreed. My Grandma who remembered Victorias funeral, had respect an interest in the RF. I used to like to see what they were doing, what they were wearing and so on.

No more, any shred of respect has long gone.

I am inclined to believe a persons judgement is questionable when they marry twice, have a string of affairs, betray their partner and what ever else is not in the public domain ( yet)
