Not allowed to play in the front garden ever.
Not allowed to play in the back garden on Sundays.
Neither my sister nor I were allowed a fringe.
Battles aplenty over food left on the plate and eating the fat off the meat. Fat turns my stomach to this day.
No ' rubbish' sweets, like penny chews, bubble gum, sherbert, and gob stoppers. There were others which we longed for - bought on the sly - and had midnight feasts.
We weren't allowed to take our teddy bears on holiday but we smuggled them into the car and produced them when it was too late to turn back. I think this was a game between kids and parents because they were never confiscated. My sister used to make them (the bears!) new clothes to go with.
I'd better stop now before I go off at too much of a tangent.
Just one more, We were never allowed to have a seat on a bus when an adult was standing.
