That is good news re Mr Gillybob. As you say baby steps but in the right direction.
Is there anyone who is capable of looking after the business during this time or is it viable to be sold? You need support and help with this and cannot do this alone.
My thoughts are with you and should you want any help please ask.

Lovely to hear some encouraging news from Gillybob - I have been worried about her. I think the support she, and many more, get from this thread is amazing, what a lovely bunch you are!

Breezy and a bit parky this morning so I put yesterdays washing on the maiden and stuck it outside but I have to keep my eye on it in case it blows over. I can't be bothered hanging it all out again. I do like the towels to be fresh though.

Should have been at a funeral this morning but my lift let me down, though I've been thinking of the old man bless him. A phone-call I had just before had said that the son gave me a mention in the eulogy which was nice. Anyway there's a " get-together " later so I'll attend that as it's local.

It's taken me over half an hour to read through the posts and coming across Gillybob's told me how hard life can be. I worry about my own daughter who's Gilly's age and what sort of a future it'll be for her. Having been through Gilly's problems myself at the age of 54 I can understand her feelings for the future but life has a strange way of getting you through these times and Gilly, you will even though you can't see the wood for the trees at the moment but things will improve as time goes on, I promise you. xx

I'd better get a few more jobs done before I go out. The cats are settled so there'll be no last minute waiting for them to come in.

Woke up to a frosty morning, but it's nice and snug indoors. DH has just gone out and I am about to go and shower.
Then I want to sew up my knitting, before I go to volunteer at the charity shop.
Gillybob, such good news about your DH. The last few weeks have take an enormous toll on you, but the light at the end of the tunnel is getting stronger.
Continuing prayers for you both and also that some help may be found for your business.

A late good morning from a frosty Bristol, I overslept because of a disturbed night with DH coughing poor thing.
Gillybob so pleased that your DH has some improvement, little steps, looking after yourself is important and don't forget to eat, you are doing amazing.
Marydoll take care in the cold and Dragonfly all the best for your treatment.

Good Morning from a cloudy but dry S Welsh coast. There was a beautiful pink sunrise earlier too.

DS is going to a 'work bonding Middle Eastern cookery course' this morning at a rather swish country hotel. They ( all blokes) will then eat their goodies for lunch. My memories of work bonding was a coffee in the staff room at lunchtime!

Lovely photos Alygran, I have missed seeing all the lovely Autumn leaves this year, so I enjoyed seeing them from you.
Glad you enjoyed the sea bass with no ill effects Marydoll despite the less than cheery catch up with friends. I'm sure that you cheered them up. Keep warm.

You must be feeling as if you have the weight of the world on your shoulders. Baby steps, one day at a time to deal with whatever that day throws at you.

Please accept a shed load of confidence. A woman with your strength of character has so, so much to offer, don’t sell yourself short, you are worth so much more than you think.

Good morning from Fuerteventura, a little bit of rain overnight, sunny with clouds forecast, temp around 21C. Sooner or later today, we’re heading over to El Cotillo, west of us, to do some beach/cliff walking. The pic is the view from my bedroom. Hope you have a good day.

I'm up and dressed and it's not even ten o'clock, so I'm feeling as though life is beginning to return to normal, even though I had quite a wakeful night.

It's cold here in my corner of heaven Devon, but I love the autumn and seeing the trees changing colour, which fortunately I can do from my windows.

Ah Gilly things are at last looking up at the ICU.

The letter about the appointment at out patients is typical!
I think it's a healthy sign that you can worry about what next and what if.

Sharing the relief we all feel for Gilly and her DH and hoping that the incremental improvement continues. As Maw says, things are better than a week ago, and Gilly’s well being for this long haul is crucial.

Bright and frosty in this part of North Somerset and the bird feeders are like Piccadilly Circus with the sparrows seeing off the pigeons and the goldfinches clustered along the fence waiting their turn. Out to coffee with friends this morning, large pile of ironing this afternoon, and WI AGM this evening.

Good morning all from a very cold part of my Glasgow too.

Decorators still here so life is still a bit chaotic for example, our bed has been moved around the room and one of the struts under the mattress was loosened?. Just about to put lamps out, my side of the bed collapsed?. Our sense of humour found us in fits of laughter when we realised, after 45 years married, this is the first time we ever broke a bed!!??

What are the chances we were both in Waitrose at the same time yesterday Marydoll? Sorry to hear your get together took it’s toll on you, so unfair. But, what a get together! Hoping you had some laughs mixed in with the serious side of your blethering.

Maw, if you can, do a warm water, salt gargle, it will soothe your scratchy throat immediately. Hope you feel better soon.

Hope you are OK gilly whatever you are having to deal with today ?

I forgot to add that today is my youngest D’s 38th birthday! When did she grow up? Always a sunny natured child, she is still one of life’s optimists and can lift my spirits at any time with a quick phone call. As her father said at her wedding, the sort of girl who lights up a room!
I wonder how many of us can empathise with this picture?

frostly just outside Reading not doing anything special today . First post . It seems that this is a pleasant thread.

Dear Gillybob you are experiencing a perfectly normal reaction to the trauma of the last seven weeks so please please don’t even think of apologising to anybody.
Your news is encouraging, but I know too well how we never want to tempt fate by thinking he is out of the woods.
But your H is considerably further down the road to recovery than even a week ago so let yourself heave even half a sigh of relief.
And then (teaching granny to suck eggs) look at some sort of recuperation for yourself so that you can continue to support him in the weeks to come.
It sounds as if you can at last allow yourself to look beyond the next 24 hours so see what you can do to strengthen yourself to cope with that. You might even be able to get some rest or much needed sleep - you are in it for the long haul!

God morning all from a very frosty Aberdeenshire...-8 on the greenhouse thermometer, but the good news is that all the stuff on the drying rack in the greenhouse is ready to iron!

The mutt doesn't like little frosty paws so it's off to the woodies this morning to race through the leaves with all his mates.

My shoulder is very painful again and doc says it's reflected pain from liver area, so no ironing today, hurrah!

-2 here, but just back from the beach with the dogs and it was wonderful - not too cold at all, it is the wind chill that kills around here, and with no wind, it was quite pleasant.
Not speaking to 'D' H at the moment, so a walk along the prom at Roker is looking unlikely this afternoon?

Good morning from the NE coast where as Harri said up thread it is freezing, frosty but very pretty.

Well the good news is that DH is continuing to make progress although it is very much in “baby steps” . No sedation during the day yesterday and oxygen levels reduced again too. They are considering another attempt at extubation within the next few days if his condition continues to improve. I am frightened to get too excited as this was done before unsuccessfully although they tell me that it is less traumatic to extubate from a tracheotomy ventilator than it was from the original down the throat tube and they are able to easily switch between ventilator and just oxygen if and when they need to . This means he could effectively be ventilated at night and just have piped oxygen during the day if he could manage. Apologies for too much information. He still has infections but they are removing all of the neck lines, arterial lines etc today and replacing them with new just incase they themselves are becoming a source of infection. My poor poor man. What he has gone through these last 7 weeks is almost unbearable.

Imagine going into A&E with tummy pains, having an operation 3 days later, waking up in a hospital bed, chatting and looking forward to going home and then as quick as a flash you are whisked into the ICU fighting for your life and put on life support ? All due to hospital acquired infections (HAI) . I really still can’t get my head around it....and what’s more he still hasn’t even had the bloody operation that he has waited almost a year for. The letter arrived for him to go for a pre-op assessment just last week . Bit of a coincidence I think don’t you ? As though they knew he wouldn’t be going and can cross him off the list without a guilty conscience.

I know I should be concentrating my efforts 100% on my DH but I can’t help but worry about how the future will turn out. I will be very surprised if the business sees the new year, which means me and the lads will all end up in the dole queue. I think 2 of them in particular should get jobs easy enough. Who would want me ? A washed up 57 going on 90 year old with MS ?
All I am doing at the moment is firefighting and digging myself into a deeper and deeper financial hole .

Anyway what will be will be.

Sorry again for pouring out my misery to everyone but I really need someone to talk to and I have no one else.

To all those suffering their own problems, illnesses and upsets I hope things get better very soon. We all deserve a little soon.

To those enjoying happy times, I hope they last forever
