Tomorrow I am having a new boiler installed. When the company director (that's who I was told to expect) called last week to inspect and quote, he asked to use the loo. I have just the one bathroom and dislike workmen using it but said yes anyway. He was in there for a long peeeee and neither flushed nor used the basin and hand towel. Tomorrow I'll give them lunch money (as I would anyway) and ask the men to use the hotel or a cafe in town which is a short walk away. I don't like the idea of them not washing hands and touching countertops, handles and visible kitchen equipment but they tend to put tools and work stuff on the floor then on kitchen work surfaces even though the boiler is in a small utility room. Do those of you with just one loo, mind workmen or others not in your family or friends circle, using those facilities?
What’s astonished me about the defending of her is her many examples of superciliously correcting people’s spelling. I thought that wasn’t considered OK?
What rubbish suziewoozie.... defended because she is ‘right of centre’. Any defending going on is because she has not said anything horrible to other posters but just started a thread that was meant to be lighthearted. So what if she once stated on another thread some time ago that she had given 50k to a political party ( shrug ) and it was a joke. I agree with what maggie has just written .....the Spanish inquisition indeed ( and they’re never expected)?
I’m certainly nowhere near right of centre, but I’d defend anyone I thought was being “got at” in real life or on here. I couldn’t give a monkey’s what they vote, how many GN mates they’ve got, or how much they’re worth.
This forum’s just a bit of a diversion for (mainly) older folk with time on their hands, not a court of law. We’re talking about flushing, or not flushing, toilets, for Pete’s sake.
I do not believe that everyone who is right of centre peddles untruths. Obviously many do - Boris Johnson for instance is a proven liar .
However I believe there are many decent honest folk, including GNetters, who would describe themselves as right of centre, just as there are decent honest liberals, social democrats and socialists.
It is unusual for a poster to deny having made one of her previous posts , accuse another poster of making things up, then when it is proven by others that she did make that boastful post, having to claim it was a joke.
No apology for accusing someone else of making things up, just an admission that nothing she posts is likely to be true.
Since she outed herself as unbelievable, there seems no point in reading any of her posts.
I don't know anyone very much on Gransnet. But I do know we are all complex people. No one is all good or bad. Often there are things about other people that we can't understand. And we need to remember that. Sometimes our actions can have harmful consequences and we can't go back and undo them. I for one, shall be extra careful how I speak to anyone from now on.
“Bullying “ (not that there was any) and GG are another example of an oxymoron, Annep1 perhaps you don’t know OP of old. Enough already, this is irrelevant and pointless.
