Decorators are having a day off today so I am enjoying a lazy morning....bliss

Enjoy your day with your GD Marydoll 4 years old is such a lovely age. Something I miss now both our GDs are older and not quite so innocent ?

I do so hope that at last there is light at the end of the tunnel. Thinking, though not posting till now, of you and your DH and keeping everything crossed that the assessment goes well.

I do hope when you go to the hospital in a bit gillybob that the medical team’s assessment gives a good prognosis.

Good morning from the NE coast where we have had torrential rain.

I hope you don’t mind me sharing this morning .

The doctors are telling me that they feel that they may finally have the infections under control (heard that several times before mind you) so they decided to “take a leap in the dark” (their words not mine) on Friday and slowly took down the sedation allowing DH to wake up.

The first thing he became aware of was the tube in his neck and the various other tubes and wires in his neck, nose and arms which is apparently very common and there is a high risk that they might try and pull them out. I was trying to let him touch them by guiding his hands whilst reassuring him that they were there to make him better. I am not sure he understand a word I was saying as he kind of just stared into the distance unable to make any eye contact or recognition.

After a time he seemed to fall back into a deep sleep which is also normal . They added a smaller amount of sedation to keep him calm overnight and the whole procedure was repeated yesterday with sedation being removed and just gently encouraging him to wake up. Not quite so calmly yesterday I might add, infact quite the opposite as he was raging with anger. The Tracheotomy tube is fitted with a speech valve but he is (as yet) not strong enough to speak, just making some low groaning noises .

It is clear that he does not know me (again I am assured fairly common after such a long time) and he is very upset and angry in equal measures . They are messing around with the drugs to try and keep him calm but not too sedated .

No sign of the man I loved in there yet, just a very scared angry person who has lost so much weight he is barely recognisable. I have been advised not to come in until after 11 today as they are doing an assessment at 10 .

I am very frightened that I may have lost him forever although I am told that these early days are very difficult and they are hopeful of improvement as the days go by.

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart, to everyone who continues to hold us in their thoughts and prayers, it means so much to me . I have mentioned many times on GN that I don’t have any real life friends to share my thoughts with so all my virtual friends on Gransnet mean so much to me.

Also thinking of those with their own worries, problems and poorlyness and wishing you all some much needed

Morning everyone from a dry but clouding over Spain!

I need it to stay dry as we’re off to a neighbouring town this afternoon for the food festival - lots of samples to try before I buy and it’s a shame for the stall holders if the weather stops customers coming to buy their produce.

Good to see GabriellaG54 back to the fray- didn’t always see eye to eye but always made interesting reading!

Good morning everyone from a calm, sunny and peaceful Malaga. It’s so much quieter out here at this time of year.

Himself has just gone out for his walk. No breakfast for us - we aren’t hungry yet after last night’s curry!

No real plans. The Mexican Grand Prix will keep himself amused later today. The WiFi seems a bit rubbish this morning so I’ll post this now in the hope it zooms off.

I actually got up fairly early, for me, and made some tea. Then took it back to bed and read, so now I am running late.
We are off to Church soon, and picking up an autistic chap, who has been coming with us for a few years now. He loves the sat nav display in the car, but otherwise any map will do.
Nothing planned for later, except, clearing the airing cupboard, for when the boiler is serviced tomorrow morning.
That means another early start.?
Thinking of Gilly, and wondering how things are with them.

Good morning from a damp NE.
I am tired as I was awake half the night, normally I would go walk about and make a cup of tea but with DS and GD staying it was not practical.
DS taking GD to meet up with other GPs so a quieter day for us.

Good morning from a dull Bristol ,
I don't know what we will do today yet as DH has been low again with the cold and being and looking miserable, he cant seem to shake of his cough either. The start of the winter coughs and colds seem to stay for ever.
I hope everyone has a peaceful Sunday and as always my thoughts are will gillybob and I hope when we do hear from her there is some good news.

Good morning
This is a sincere THANK YOU message to all the ladies who took the time (some on more than one occasion) to PM me after my 'leaving' message.
I was quite taken back at the number (32 34 incl 2 this morning) and kind remarks from posters I had never heard of and other GNers who admit to not having agreed with many of my posts.

For the first week or so I didn't even read any nor did I peruse the various threads and tbh, I went away for a few days without my phone.
Those who PM'd know who you are so I'm not going to name names, suffice to say that your comments and warmth were a surprise and humbly received.
I hope this is an acceptable way of offering my appreciation to all who gave up their time to send their thoughts.

Good morning all from a sunny, but perishing Glasgow.

We are off to DS' home for a wee family get together, as it is our wee granddaughter's fourth birthday tomorrow. We are girding our loins as she will be so excited.

Feely pretty rubbish today (and yesterday), so I will be letting everyone run after me for a change.

Good morning everyone from a very grey but dry Northampton. Hoping it stays that way as I am going to watch Saints play Lyon this afternoon in the rugby European cup.
Made my Christmas puddings yesterday, and fed them well before wrapping and storing. Hope to make the mince pies this week and get them in the freezer.
