Having just watched the interview with Emily Maitlis, I just cannot make my mind up about him , I find it strange that he could not recollect having that photo taken with the girl with his arm around him , I thought he was very cautious with his answers, What do you all think ?

Grammaretto Sun 17-Nov-19 11:39:41

He is sleazy in the extreme. He talked about going to NY as if it were his second home (it probably is)

i.e. saying "I was on 5th" JE's place is just along from there.
So divorced from reality. How can the Q's second son be such a ***. As for sticking up for his disgusting friend, he actually said he was a guest of GMaxwell and was hardly aware of JE and all the people going in and out.
There's a whole climate change movement too which PA has never heard of.
he wanted to end the friendship in person, a phone call wouldn't do
Well there you go. Honourable till the last.

EllanVannin Sun 17-Nov-19 11:38:47

He'd fail a polygraph, put it that way.

suziewoozie Sun 17-Nov-19 11:38:21

Grandma70 you said it was a fuss about nothing - that’s an insulting thing to say about the behaviour of a group of rich powerful men involved in sex with vulnerable young women which resulted in PA remaining friends with a convicted paedophile . Perhaps you could explain why it’s nothing to be overly bothered about? Your response to me was disingenuous.

EllanVannin Sun 17-Nov-19 11:34:58

Yes,Callistemon, selective amnesia it definitely is.
I wonder if anyone's been paid off ? It's what usually happens isn't it ?

Eloethan Sun 17-Nov-19 11:34:25

There are several questions about Eptstein's death, some raised by experts in a number of areas, including prison procedures and me forensic issues. There is so much material to question how he died that I think any reports mentioning his death should refer to his alleged suicide.

I think Ghislaine Maxwell has disappeared and it has been suggested that she may be in Israel. In any event, since she has a home in Belgravia and, I believe, New York, there must be a very good reason why she has absented herself. - or been absented.

It's laughable that Andrew paints himself as an"honourable" man. Nothing in this sex scandal, nor in his behaviour as a supposed "trade envoy" supports that contention.

Kalu Sun 17-Nov-19 11:33:00

I tend to agree with JE’s brother and thought at the time, how convenient!

According to a link explaining PA’s friendship with JE it states that JE also bailed SF out by giving her £15,000.

Grammaretto Sun 17-Nov-19 11:28:23

Good point Jude

Harris27 Sun 17-Nov-19 11:21:49

I thought he looked awkward and terrified and has been coerced into this interview to see in a better light. No he’s done something and got in a pickle and is back pedalling for his life! Never mind he’s royal and will get away with it. Anyone watched the crown on Netflix? - ha ha next installment!

Urmstongran Sun 17-Nov-19 11:16:06

and think the woman is yet another hoping to get a payout from all this

I think not.

She is a 35y old mother now living in a bungalow in New South Wales and had to be tracked down to give evidence in the case against JE.

Epstein’s brother who has inherited his wealth from him does not believe JE took his own life. He was coming up for bail release 2 days later. His brother thinks he was murdered because he knew a lot of dirty secrets about people in high positions. His death is dry convenient to some he says.

jude2006 Sun 17-Nov-19 11:15:45

Really interesting reading everyone's thoughts on GN. Can someone explain why Ghislaine Maxwell is not being questioned about all of this, she seems to be keeping a very low profile at the moment?

glammanana Sun 17-Nov-19 11:06:02

He comes across as not the brightest spark in The Royal Box by any way.
His ex-wife says he is such a gentleman and never do anything untoward of course she would claim this as he has bailed her out so many times over the years.
This could turn out to be another horrible year for our Queen.

quizqueen Sun 17-Nov-19 10:59:42

Virginia should have 'kept the dress'!

Kalu Sun 17-Nov-19 10:49:49

He came across as someone desperately trying to dig himself out of a hole.

Too much waffling with his replies and sudden memory loss!

Trying to come across as an innocent party didn’t wash with me.

He really must be pretty thick or does he think we are thick enough to believe him as he is such an upstanding member of society?

Urmstongran Sun 17-Nov-19 10:49:12

Beggars belief that he could say he was at home having a pizza. Subtext: no underage sex that night but also no denial that it ever happened at all.

Sleazy.

Why doesn’t he just say sex with any underage girl would be abhorrent and it categorically never happened?

Callistemon Sun 17-Nov-19 10:47:09

Is that what is called selective amnesia, EllanVannin?
Usually when something traumatic or unpleasant has happened and the mind can't cope.

I agree, this can't be the case as Epstein and Maxwell were obviously part of his life for a long time.

Grandma70s Sun 17-Nov-19 10:46:55

Oh dear, oh dear. I can assure you that the men in my family are all thoroughly decent. Suziewoozie, that is an incredibly insulting and rude thing to say.

Has anybody said they think it’s fine for young girls to be trafficked and mistreated like this? I certainly haven’t.

All I said was that if a friend (not a mere acquaintance, a friend) of mine was discovered to be a sex offender, I would not shun them at once. I would want to talk to them about it and how it happened.

There are different kinds of people and different assumptions. Prince Andrew’s circles are, I imagine, very different from ours. There is also a terrible tendency to oversimplify, especially evident in the gutter press. ( I include the Daily Mail in the gutter press, incidentally.)

merlotgran Sun 17-Nov-19 10:46:37

If he ever has to be cross examined in court he will seriously regret this interview.

Anniebach Sun 17-Nov-19 10:46:23

Doubt there will be a court case. Have staff at Epstein’s houses
given evidence ?

One woman makes allegations about one man, surely she can name many men , has she ?

Wealth and privilege is spoken of, no different to men in this
country from all walks of life visiting prostitutes who have been groomed by their pimps.

The interview was damaging , so many lies.

When will they learn from the Queen, never give interviews,
there was the Diana Panorama interview, recently the Harry and Megan interviews.

I think his charities will want rid of him now.

Gonegirl Sun 17-Nov-19 10:44:05

They have tried and tried to prove that photo is fake. They have been totally unsuccessful.

He's a liar.

Gonegirl Sun 17-Nov-19 10:43:10

It is about the photo Sw because the worst part of it is him having sex with an underage girl.

suziewoozie Sun 17-Nov-19 10:42:20

Yes Call what’s making me squirm is PA apologists arguing about the veracity of the photo or whether the young woman consented when the actual facts of JE and his behaviour and PAs long standing friendship with him are absolutely undisputed.

Some people are so in thrall to the concept of royalty that they lose all reason - who on here would accept their son mixing with JE or their dd going to a party at his house?

Gonegirl Sun 17-Nov-19 10:42:13

If, as he says, he was taking Beatrice to a pizza party in Woking at the time one of the events was supposed to have taken place, can't the parents of the other kids verify this?

Callistemon Sun 17-Nov-19 10:36:05

I think it could be proved one way or another, but I thought that it was supposed to provide the proof that he did meet this young girl whereas he denies it.

If it was just suggested that he posed with her for a photo (with Maxwell in the background, rather odd) then he is really rather stupid.
However, his links with Epstein and Maxwell are far too strong to cry innocent.

suziewoozie Sun 17-Nov-19 10:31:49

But the photo isn’t the main point even it is? He was friends with a man infamous for years for his parties with young girls who eventually was taken to court, found guilty, and put on the sex offenders register. The rumour about the photo was started by allies of PA almost certainly and I guess it will now never be proved to the satisfaction of all either way.

Callistemon Sun 17-Nov-19 10:23:08

Alexa I read something yesterday about the possible faking of that photo; as always there are some who, after thorough examination, believe it was faked and others who are adamant it was genuine.
