Having just watched the interview with Emily Maitlis, I just cannot make my mind up about him , I find it strange that he could not recollect having that photo taken with the girl with his arm around him , I thought he was very cautious with his answers, What do you all think ?

Prince Andrew has not been involved with the NSPCC for several years. Thank God.
A car crash of an interview for him, but an opportunity for us to get a glimpse of an arrogant, entitled individual with a lack of empathy and sympathy for the victims.
No remorse for his friendship with a convicted serial sex offender.

Over 50 women as witnesses to the world of Epstein who mixed with the rich and famous yet one man is wanted to fly to America to answer questions

So many victims yet there was a search for one victim who lived in Australia

I find him creepy. A self important, arrogant man, who cavorts with sexual predators whom most people would avoid like the plague. He knew what he was doing and with whom. They were the people with whom he felt comfortable, he knew what they were like, his kind of people. No remorse for the young lives ruined, just being caught with his trousers down. He should be removed from the Royal circle, his allowances stopped. The Queen has always had a soft spot for him , how he has let her and his daughters down as well as the country. Goodness knows what his daughters partners families feel about their children's father. Inwoukdntvwant him round mine.

Burlusconi was head of government ( like our PM) and not head of state ( which HM is). My point to Call is that the alternative to our RF would be a non royal head of state and we never seem to hear much of them, they just get on with all the ceremonial stuff. The US model of a combined head of state and head of government is not the universal alternative to a RF.

merlotgran Sun 17-Nov-19 23:28:28

Silvio Berlusconi?

suziewoozie Sun 17-Nov-19 23:28:06

I honestly don’t understand your post merlot . For one thing there is NO comparison between this and the things H and M have been criticised for. And for another thing , with them, it’s the selective pile on I object to - anything from how oddly she holds her baby, to wanting to have Christmas with her mum, to using private jets, to how she controls him etc etc

suziewoozie Sun 17-Nov-19 23:22:05

Call what I took from your post was ‘PA hadn’t behaved well but then neither do republican presidents so better keep the RF’. Well how about having our own standards of behaviour that we judge our own RF by regardless of any where else. Also there are plenty of heads of states in non- monarchy countries that just go quietly about their head of state duties without being friends with JE or trailing other sex scandals in their wake.

a collective failure of an institution that is supposed set the tone of the nation

suziewoozie If anyone dares to comment on the hypocritical behaviour of Harry and Meghan you come down on them like a ton of bricks.

And why are you always so rude in your replies?

Callistemon Sun 17-Nov-19 23:14:18

facile and irrelevant

I'm sorry but I disagree.

suziewoozie Sun 17-Nov-19 23:07:08

My point Call is that we have a right to expect the RF ( as an institution/organisation) with all their vast resources, to keep their collective nose clean. It s not just one doting mother and her pathetic son - it’s bigger than that, it’s a collective failure of an institution that is supposed set the tone of the nation. If it can’t be aware of and handle this matter properly ( and it hasn’t ) then we have to ask the question is it fit for purpose. Your comment about republican presidents and their behaviour is unbelievably facile and irrelevant and frankly I’d expect better of you. I’m not a republican by the way - but this latest episode is not helping

Lilypops Sun 17-Nov-19 23:01:31

PA said he wanted to do the honourable thing and tell JE that he no longer could be friends with him , A paedophile does not deserve to have any considered honourable intention whatsoever, This would be after J E supposedly paid of a debt of the Duchess of York , of £15,000 , why when PA could well afford to pay his ex wife,s debts surely,

Callistemon Sun 17-Nov-19 22:55:26

suziewoozie although I may agree with some of your points re trafficking etc I do not think the whole RF can be considered culpable in the actions of one individual.
As a mother, perhaps HM cannot believe that her child is capable of anything like this and he has persuaded her that this cannot be so.

I think that republicans may seize on any reason to disparage the Royal Family but I cannot think of many Republican presidents whose behaviour is exemplary.

suziewoozie Sun 17-Nov-19 22:46:37

Iam you don’t mean that. You can’t - not even almost. He was living in this world of JE, GM, for years. We live in a world where there is the daily sexual exploitation of women and young girls by a tiny minority of men, many of whom are rich and powerful. Sometimes it’s dressed up in fancy parties in Belgravia, Mar-el-Largo, private estates and islands with girls flown in on private jets and sometimes it’s a dirty back street or filthy brothel with girls brought in in the back of lorries. It’s never right, the young women are never truly free agents. Sometimes in PAs world they may not even realise they are being abused until much later. It doesn’t matter in the end details about photos, or exact dates. PA was a friend of JE and GM. That was always wrong - I do not buy for one minute that BP, the security services were not aware of the circles he was moving in. C4=showed how much was in the public realm years ago.

The least our pandered RF can do is to act with a modicum of decency and respect and choose their friends more carefully ( especially after JS and PB) They could at least pretend to share the values that the vast majority of British peoples believe in and they could start by not thinking it’s acceptable to mix with and take money from people who traffic young women and treat them as pieces of meat for their own perverted pleasures.

Anniebach Sun 17-Nov-19 22:42:35

this has nothing to do with politics,

mcem Sun 17-Nov-19 22:39:37

Par for the course with the wealthy, privileged men who are the UK elite.
How can anyone criticise PA yet still support/vote for Johnson?
Sleazebags both of them!

Anniebach Sun 17-Nov-19 21:58:46

His media advisor quit two weeks ago because he was against the interview. I have doubts that he would listen to advisors , too stupid and too puffed up .

Surely the NSPCC will want him to stand down .

I doubt we will see anymore of him until he is at Sandringham

Iam64 Sun 17-Nov-19 21:56:19

Good question Callistemon. If he had shown an ounce of empathy, I could have (almost) felt sorry for him. He just couldn't stop himself making it worse every time he opened his mouth.

Disastrous for PA

Callistemon Sun 17-Nov-19 21:53:24

Has he ever taken advice from his PR people or anyone, I wonder, Iam64.

Iam64 Sun 17-Nov-19 21:47:15

I watched 50 minutes of the interview earlier today, car crash doesn't begin to describe it. PA squirmed and under pressure reminded Emily M, that he is a member of the RF. His excuse for spending 4 days living with JE after his release from prison for sex offences was that he is too honourable to end a friendship by telephone.
I can't imagine who was advising him. His PR team must be more than useless, unless of course, they were wise enough to tell him to say nothing, to stand by the statement put out by Buck Palace, that at least made reference to the victims here. None that from PA. absolutely dire.
I do hope he's dropped by the NSPCC immediately. He had the brass neck to say his involvement with that charity meant he knew the signs to look out for on sexual abuse, and saw none in JE 's various homes he stayed in. See no evil, hear no evil....

Anniebach Sun 17-Nov-19 21:43:55

I am curious as to who had the photograph Callisemon

Iam64 Sun 17-Nov-19 21:42:37

From memory, she was interviewed some years earlier but it wasn't pursued. A new senior officer was appointed and pursued her allegations, that is what was under investigation when he died in prison.
She wasn't chasing it, she was asked if she'd be prepared to cooperate and she did.

Anniebach Sun 17-Nov-19 21:41:35

More than 20 women gave evidence and there were over 30 more who were abused but didn’t appear in court

lilypollen Sun 17-Nov-19 21:41:24

I don't think this should be elevated as a big issue. He's a royal who isn't really seen as major influence, never seen as the sharpest knife in the drawer. This is the 21st century and he was happy to be in the company of American people with money. Should he have regretted his friendship with Epstein once he was guilty of a crime? Difficult, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Callistemon Sun 17-Nov-19 21:37:12

I don't know, Anniebach
I think others were found but perhaps had not been photographed with him?

Anniebach Sun 17-Nov-19 21:31:33

Callistemon I didn’t know she was tracked down , I just wonder why they had to track some one down in Australia when there must be so many victims living in America
