Having just watched the interview with Emily Maitlis, I just cannot make my mind up about him , I find it strange that he could not recollect having that photo taken with the girl with his arm around him , I thought he was very cautious with his answers, What do you all think ?

Grandma70s Sun 17-Nov-19 10:46:55

Oh dear, oh dear. I can assure you that the men in my family are all thoroughly decent. Suziewoozie, that is an incredibly insulting and rude thing to say.

Has anybody said they think it’s fine for young girls to be trafficked and mistreated like this? I certainly haven’t.

All I said was that if a friend (not a mere acquaintance, a friend) of mine was discovered to be a sex offender, I would not shun them at once. I would want to talk to them about it and how it happened.

There are different kinds of people and different assumptions. Prince Andrew’s circles are, I imagine, very different from ours. There is also a terrible tendency to oversimplify, especially evident in the gutter press. ( I include the Daily Mail in the gutter press, incidentally.)

Callistemon Sun 17-Nov-19 10:47:09

Is that what is called selective amnesia, EllanVannin?
Usually when something traumatic or unpleasant has happened and the mind can't cope.

I agree, this can't be the case as Epstein and Maxwell were obviously part of his life for a long time.

Urmstongran Sun 17-Nov-19 10:49:12

Beggars belief that he could say he was at home having a pizza. Subtext: no underage sex that night but also no denial that it ever happened at all.

Sleazy.

Why doesn’t he just say sex with any underage girl would be abhorrent and it categorically never happened?

Kalu Sun 17-Nov-19 10:49:49

He came across as someone desperately trying to dig himself out of a hole.

Too much waffling with his replies and sudden memory loss!

Trying to come across as an innocent party didn’t wash with me.

He really must be pretty thick or does he think we are thick enough to believe him as he is such an upstanding member of society?

quizqueen Sun 17-Nov-19 10:59:42

Virginia should have 'kept the dress'!

glammanana Sun 17-Nov-19 11:06:02

He comes across as not the brightest spark in The Royal Box by any way.
His ex-wife says he is such a gentleman and never do anything untoward of course she would claim this as he has bailed her out so many times over the years.
This could turn out to be another horrible year for our Queen.

jude2006 Sun 17-Nov-19 11:15:45

Really interesting reading everyone's thoughts on GN. Can someone explain why Ghislaine Maxwell is not being questioned about all of this, she seems to be keeping a very low profile at the moment?

Urmstongran Sun 17-Nov-19 11:16:06

and think the woman is yet another hoping to get a payout from all this

I think not.

She is a 35y old mother now living in a bungalow in New South Wales and had to be tracked down to give evidence in the case against JE.

Epstein’s brother who has inherited his wealth from him does not believe JE took his own life. He was coming up for bail release 2 days later. His brother thinks he was murdered because he knew a lot of dirty secrets about people in high positions. His death is dry convenient to some he says.

Harris27 Sun 17-Nov-19 11:21:49

I thought he looked awkward and terrified and has been coerced into this interview to see in a better light. No he’s done something and got in a pickle and is back pedalling for his life! Never mind he’s royal and will get away with it. Anyone watched the crown on Netflix? - ha ha next installment!

Grammaretto Sun 17-Nov-19 11:28:23

Good point Jude

Kalu Sun 17-Nov-19 11:33:00

I tend to agree with JE’s brother and thought at the time, how convenient!

According to a link explaining PA’s friendship with JE it states that JE also bailed SF out by giving her £15,000.

Eloethan Sun 17-Nov-19 11:34:25

There are several questions about Eptstein's death, some raised by experts in a number of areas, including prison procedures and me forensic issues. There is so much material to question how he died that I think any reports mentioning his death should refer to his alleged suicide.

I think Ghislaine Maxwell has disappeared and it has been suggested that she may be in Israel. In any event, since she has a home in Belgravia and, I believe, New York, there must be a very good reason why she has absented herself. - or been absented.

It's laughable that Andrew paints himself as an"honourable" man. Nothing in this sex scandal, nor in his behaviour as a supposed "trade envoy" supports that contention.

EllanVannin Sun 17-Nov-19 11:34:58

Yes,Callistemon, selective amnesia it definitely is.
I wonder if anyone's been paid off ? It's what usually happens isn't it ?

suziewoozie Sun 17-Nov-19 11:38:21

Grandma70 you said it was a fuss about nothing - that’s an insulting thing to say about the behaviour of a group of rich powerful men involved in sex with vulnerable young women which resulted in PA remaining friends with a convicted paedophile . Perhaps you could explain why it’s nothing to be overly bothered about? Your response to me was disingenuous.

EllanVannin Sun 17-Nov-19 11:38:47

He'd fail a polygraph, put it that way.

Grammaretto Sun 17-Nov-19 11:39:41

He is sleazy in the extreme. He talked about going to NY as if it were his second home (it probably is)

i.e. saying "I was on 5th" JE's place is just along from there.
So divorced from reality. How can the Q's second son be such a ***. As for sticking up for his disgusting friend, he actually said he was a guest of GMaxwell and was hardly aware of JE and all the people going in and out.
There's a whole climate change movement too which PA has never heard of.
he wanted to end the friendship in person, a phone call wouldn't do
Well there you go. Honourable till the last.

suziewoozie Sun 17-Nov-19 11:43:49

Imo GM who apparently was Chief Pimp is holed up on some luxury island somewhere. She knows where all the bodies are buried and must be quite in fear for her safety after JE’s convenient demise. Remember she was a guest of PA’s along with JE at both Windsor and Sandringham. I do not believe that PA did not know exactly what was going on with these two and I doubt very much that at all the parties he went to that he just stayed in the kitchen nibbling crisps and having a drink.

Greenfinch Sun 17-Nov-19 11:49:19

Perhaps he can't remember the said girl because there have been so many. Just saying.

GabriellaG54 Sun 17-Nov-19 11:54:32

IMV he was as slippery and evasive as an eel.
Saying that he cannot recall/remember ever meeting that girl does not unequivocally state that he never met her, which he failed to say.
There are ways of proving his assertion that he was with PB at Pizza Express in Woking at the time...a place I find it hard to believe he ever visited
It would be easy to verify his claims as Beatrice would know whose party she attended and the family of that child could verify as to whether he brought his daughter on that day and at the approximate time he mentioned after all, it's memorable for the fact that not everyone holds a party where a son of HM brings his daughter, a princess.
Does the birthday girl remember the gift she was given?
Another anomaly was the fact that he stayed for 4 days with JE, ostensibly to do the honourable thing by telling him in person that it was no longer appropriate to be seen with him BUT taking a walk with him in a public park where someone took photos.
Nah...a slippery customer.

Framilode Sun 17-Nov-19 11:55:13

I think he came across as shifty, entitled and pompous but whether this particular allegation is true I don't know. However, his long friendship with Epstein and his ridiculous comments about assuming all the people in Epstein's house were staff means that I doubt whatever he says.

Urmstongran Sun 17-Nov-19 11:59:08

I agree with Piers Morgan:

He tweeted: 'This is one of the most astonishing interviews I've ever watched. Brilliant forensic dissection by @maitlis - desperate, toe-curling bulls* from Prince Andrew. Why on earth did he do this? Insane.'

Actually I think PA went over to see JE in person because of fear an email or a phone call could be hacked.

I can imagine him asking ‘how safe am I in all this?’

Anniebach Sun 17-Nov-19 12:08:19

If there were many girls involved why did this one girl have to be tracked down to give evidence ?

sunseeker Sun 17-Nov-19 12:09:35

Anniebach possibly because she was the one photographed with him?

suziewoozie Sun 17-Nov-19 12:10:26

You should watch the C4 programme annie .

GabriellaG54 Sun 17-Nov-19 12:10:48

Lots of funny comments on Google/DM re the PA saga.
