Having just watched the interview with Emily Maitlis, I just cannot make my mind up about him , I find it strange that he could not recollect having that photo taken with the girl with his arm around him , I thought he was very cautious with his answers, What do you all think ?

Anniebach Tue 19-Nov-19 11:46:01

pinkquartz I read all posts on all threads I post on.

I question why is Andrew the only one named by lawyers and by two women. Why not other names ?

WadesNan Tue 19-Nov-19 11:41:58

Could it be she said "any others" because she either didn't know their names or, as is more likely, didn't want to cause more harm to those who choose not to come forward.

Just imagine if when you were 16/17 you had been groomed into having sex with older men but were now married with a family - it would take a great deal of thought and consideration before coming forward and put your family through the ordeal of all that publicity. Would not your first thought be to protect your family from all that?

It would take a great deal of courage because there will always be those who will not believe you or put the blame on you because you were old enough "to know what you were doing"

Good post MOnica

pinkquartz Tue 19-Nov-19 11:38:24

anniebach

the French and American police are after other men. They are not yet ready to go public.

I have written this before but I guess you don't bother to read my posts?

This is just the start, the police want the whole gang but these are rich and powerful men.
They have to have all the witnesses and evidence otherwise the men will wriggle out of it.

Surely you have watched a crime drama?

trisher

you may say that this issue is a waste of time for you to bother with but it is important because it shows the way the very wealthy regards everyone else....as just commodity for their pleasure and use.
I thought you would have seen it that way as you are a staunch Labour supporter.
This is about the abuse of people through money.

M0nica Tue 19-Nov-19 11:36:00

Look it is happening - and pretty widely across the social spectrum. There is many a man of 40 and older soliciting teen age prostitutes on street corners.

We are not talking morals here we are talking law. The facts are that most of the women who circulate around these very rich men anywhere in the world will be teenagers. Remember Silvio Berlusconi and his friends and young ladies?

In which case if Prince Andrew is going associate with these kinds of people, what is he to do? As I said check everything out before going to bed. perhaps he should also be checking whether they have given full and unthreatened consent to the deed. As things stand this girl's testimony would suggest that she was effectively trafficked by Ghislaine Maxwell.

I am not supporting PA, but I think we need be practical about the problems that face an 'honourable' man in these circumstances. Have sex with a 17 year old in one jurisdiction and it is entirely legal, have sex with the same girl 100 yards down the road in another jurisdiction and you are a child molester.

The simple solution is not to mix in these kinds of circles, but the man is stupid and fool. How is he then to keep safe and protect himself in these circles.

Anniebach Tue 19-Nov-19 11:34:58

Rudegal. He hasn’t got away with sexual abuse, he hasn’t been charged with sexual abuse.

Anniebach Tue 19-Nov-19 11:33:04

suzie must you be so personal? , I question why no other names are given and you say ‘ I am in a hole ‘, no way.

Unlike you I want all involved in this abuse to face justice not just one.

Rudegal Tue 19-Nov-19 11:23:12

Because he's royal he gets away with sexual abuse?! It's not right and the queen will move heaven and hell to protect her son, so if you have money you CAN buy pretty much anything! Money and power.. castrate all peados and child sex offenders.. well any sexual predator actually ?

suziewoozie Tue 19-Nov-19 11:22:14

Oh annie when you’re in a hole....

Anniebach Tue 19-Nov-19 11:20:17

suzie why ‘any others’, why not names ?

suziewoozie Tue 19-Nov-19 11:17:49

For centuries the great institutions of state - the Royal Family, the Church have been protected from the normal rules of society. Free to do as they wished with impunity and always sure of protection if anything emerged. Thank goodness things are changing - a bit at least.

suziewoozie Tue 19-Nov-19 11:14:02

Yes annie ‘any others’ because you know full well that victims of abuse are frequently so damaged that they did not willingly come forward and even more so when the men involved are rich and powerful. They think they won’t be believed for one thing and often blame themselves.Just look at what happened in the RC church in particular - look at the stories coming out now in the historic child abuse enquiry. Coming forward years afterwards is perfectly understandable.

Oopsminty Tue 19-Nov-19 11:13:41

What I want to know is why hasn't any of the staff come forward?

They must have had pilots, cleaners, pool workers, admin staff etc etc.

These people must have known what was going on

Not one of them has anything to say?

It's all just awful.

I feel sorry for the Queen.

And of course for the young women

Davidhs Tue 19-Nov-19 11:11:04

PA got the “Randy” prefix just because it rhymed with Andy, no more, obviously he was interested in partying and girls just like most young men including Harry.

Alexa Tue 19-Nov-19 11:08:41

I agree with Gonegirl. It's safe to say girls and boys of seventeen are not expected to be as worldly as adults of forty or so.
This is the same moral argument as it's wrong for a teacher or doctor to have a relationship with a student , or a patient. The balance of power is wrong. So it's akin to bullying.

Anniebach Tue 19-Nov-19 11:05:18

A woman who claims to have been a victim has called for-
Prince Andrew and ‘any others’ who knew the billionaire to speak to U.S. Authorities

Any others ?

Gonegirl Tue 19-Nov-19 11:02:03

Monica don't you think it is immoral for a 40 year old man to have casual sex with a young girl of 17? Never mind about the age of consent?

suziewoozie Tue 19-Nov-19 10:52:16

That’s a really silly post MOnica. And if he wasn’t mixing with such young girls, it wouldn’t arise anyway would it.at the very least he should just be more careful

suziewoozie Tue 19-Nov-19 10:50:13

Let’s suppose there is no issue about her age and consent - where does that leave us in terms of his helping the US authorities? Of his behaviour being incompatible with his status? Of his lack of empathy for the victims of JE and GM ( his friends- invited to royal residences) and remorse for at the very least his appalling judgement.

M0nica Tue 19-Nov-19 10:43:44

PA is also caught by the way the age of consent varies from one jurisdiction to another. If, and I do accept it is if, he had sex with her in the UK, then the age of consent is 16 and it was all entirely legal because she was 17. In some states in the US the age of consent is as young as 14.

Is PA supposed to go round with an age of consent app on his mobile and carefully check how old the girl is (demand to see her birth certificate?) then check the jurisdiction, then its age of consent before getting down to business?

suziewoozie Tue 19-Nov-19 10:37:44

annie I don’t care who else should give a statement in the States - I only know I can’t think of one reason why he wouldn’t cooperate - except for the obvious one.

trisher Tue 19-Nov-19 10:37:12

Could he have forgotten the photograph? I would imagine he could and he could also forget the girl. He has probably been supplied with many girls in many places, some of them voluntary, some coerced. I don't suppose he enquired closely about any of them. It isn't moral it isn't right, but it is what you get when you have men brought up to think they have some sort of aristocratic right to anything, with a father who has been a less than perfect model of fidelity.
That said he could try taking more responsibility.
I haven't listened to the interview. Life is too short to give the RF any more time than they aready get.

Alexa Tue 19-Nov-19 10:35:16

My finger stuttered Suziewoozie

Anniebach Tue 19-Nov-19 10:32:10

Thank you oldgimmer1.

America has an election next year . Paul Keating former Australian PM’s daughter was photographed leaving the house. A painting of Clinton in the house .

Yet it’s Andrew the lawyers are demanding go to America

Alexa Tue 19-Nov-19 10:31:05

Suzziewoozie and Callistemon you are both right. And yet royalty behaving illegally and immorally has been going on forever. The people who get to the top of society are with a few honourable exceptions those or the descendants of those who took what they wanted from underlings.
