Having just watched the interview with Emily Maitlis, I just cannot make my mind up about him , I find it strange that he could not recollect having that photo taken with the girl with his arm around him , I thought he was very cautious with his answers, What do you all think ?

GabriellaG54 Wed 20-Nov-19 22:10:47

Funny that a certain poster seems to think that it's ok for her to correct my spelling, something she has pointed out many times as being rude and not in the spirit of GN.
MawB needs to focus elsewhere as her snitty comments on just about everything I post, has become very obvious and something I shall report if it occurs again.

AllotmentLil Wed 20-Nov-19 22:01:22

Agree with every word MawB said.

GabriellaG, PA is not, at present “standing trial”:, however the universal opinion of the media, the public, the charities he is /was involved in and, for all I know, the “Palace”, is that his decision to hold the interview was unwise, not sanctioned by HM, and far from resolving the situation, his performance made it worse.
He was unconvincing, arrogant (Epstein’s behaviour was described as “unbecoming”) strangely focused on some details which could easily be verified by others, (but weren’t) and equally strangely vague about others.
Given his position, the necessity for security etc and private secretaries, it should be perfectly easy to access data relating to his whereabouts on the dates in question.
So don’t criticise the posters on GN for “disembowelling” him, (2 ll’s ) he well and truly skewered himself.
This evenings announcement that he is stepping down from public duties is a last ditch attempt to put out the fire, but I fear, too late.

Kangaroo courts are to be despised.

I agree, Gabriella but unfortunately PA's interview made judge and jury out of the viewers. How else were we expected to react?

Labaik Wed 20-Nov-19 20:23:42

It's just something I've read over the years; not claiming that it's true, it's just something that has always stayed in my mind, that's all...

GabriellaG54 Wed 20-Nov-19 20:22:23

He's damned before even standing trial.
I'd hate to be in front of such a pre-biased lot as are found on here.
The majority of you have him disemboweled before all the undisputed and irrefutable facts are known.
Kangaroo courts are to be despised.

Iam the costs of the Irish or German President come nowhere near the costs of the royal family, Their children their children’s wives etc are not part of the picture

Anniebach Wed 20-Nov-19 19:32:30

Who has said he is the queens favourite ?

Could it not the media claim this because of the fact the Queen was more relaxed when she had Andrew and Edward ,

A ten and fourteen year gap between them and Ann

Labaik Wed 20-Nov-19 19:23:47

It's always surprised me that it's often said that Andrew is the Queen's 'favourite'. She has always struck me as being a good judge of character. Maybe he's just very charming?

phoenix Wed 20-Nov-19 19:09:08

Sorry, started a thread about his "stepping down" blush

Anniebach Wed 20-Nov-19 19:03:27

The royal family is smaller now than it was . At one time the Duke and Duchess of Kent, Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Princess Alexandra and Ogilvy, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Princess Margaret and Snowdon all carried out official duties.

Grammaretto Wed 20-Nov-19 18:56:55

I agree BlueBelle
Why on earth are we still paying for these useless people? Some of the richest people in the world, born to unbelievable privilege, abusing their power - and it's all paid for by us!!

Andrew will have to wear a very hairy shirt for a very long time wherever he goes to cool off sorry he doesn't sweat does he.

Thanks for that Riverwalk, very interesting and I do hope Charles reverses this move towards us having a huge extended RF as well as the Monarch. I used to be a Republican in my younger years but have slowly come to recognise the wisdom of my father in so many areas of life, including the costs and benefits of a Monarch v a President of some kind.

Let's have a Monarch and a small number of lesser royals, like William in his role as King in waiting and his younger brother Harry, as ex serviceman in need of some time out, therapy and recovery before he returns to his main role with the Invictus games. Otherwise, draw a very large line under it.

Riverwalk Wed 20-Nov-19 18:42:56

Iam I caught a bit of a conversation on Radio 4 the other, can't remember who it was but someone serious like a biographer/historian. He said that the queen made a mistake in the 1960s by initiating this idea of a Royal Family, up until then the Monarchy was the institution, not RF.

She thought it would make the Monarchy more relevant and humanise them - it was around the time of the 'fly on the wall' documentary the RF took part in.

Maybe now there will be a reverse and they can all retire and there is just a monarch and that's all we finance, and then the next one. We don't need every Tom, Dick and Harry so to speak, opening hospitals and shaking hands, attending the FA cup final, etc.

Anniebach Wed 20-Nov-19 18:38:09

Charles stopped Beatrice and Eugenie taking official duties and had a ding dong with their father over taking away security for them.

aggie Wed 20-Nov-19 18:33:45

Bank of mum Bluebelle ?

Iam64 Wed 20-Nov-19 18:33:44

Good point BlueBelle, about public money. I wonder how influential Charles has been in this decision. He has always suggested a smaller RF will be the way to go when he's in charge and PA is likely to be one of the first to go.

Smileless2012 Wed 20-Nov-19 18:33:35

My thoughts as well MawB too little much too late.

Anniebach Wed 20-Nov-19 18:33:14

Doubt he jumped, he was pushed

BlueBelle Wed 20-Nov-19 18:32:12

If he stands down from all duties to cover his skin he should not be getting any public money

aggie Wed 20-Nov-19 18:32:09

sounds like there is going to be a smaller gathering at the Royal table this year ,

Iam64 Wed 20-Nov-19 18:32:05

WWm2, I bet Meghan and Harry are even more relieved to be off to the USA to recoup .

Riverwalk Wed 20-Nov-19 18:29:23

I suppose he had to jump before any more organisations/charities dropped him.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 20-Nov-19 18:23:50

Be an interesting conversation around the table at Christmas at Sandringham??

loopylou Wed 20-Nov-19 18:21:51

The BBC have announced he's standing down from public life for the foreseeable future so goodness knows what's going on behind the scenes.

There was a very interesting article about him in Monday's Guardian newspaper, very enlightening.
I suspect a great deal more is about to be exposed hence getting him away from the public eye before he digs himself deeper into the sh1t.

Perhaps he's being sent to the Tower (ever hopeful!)?
