The GM thread is where members have got to ‘know’ one another over the years. Possibly this is what gave you the impression it was cliquey

Pity you didn’t stay around for anyone to get to ‘know’ you too.

I agree that some people are seemingly missed more than others if they don’t post, and also find that some people’s contributions are ignored while others saying the same thing are not. There is no rhyme or reason to it. But the threads are usually entertaining and I enjoy reading other people’s comments whether prolific posters or occasional ones!

You’re right Urmstongran- I simply wasn’t aware of the tradition that Mick started it off and welcomed everyone bright and early each morning.

I apologised to Mick as well for being trigger happy (I must have been an hour ahead in Spain!) and he was fine about it.

I think starting every day with kind thoughts to all is such a good thing to do - good for the poster and those reading. Some are sad, some funny, some inspiring and a few though provoking - what’s not to like?

And then we c@n go on to the news and politics threads for some cut and thrust and learn something new every day it seems - it’s certainly broadened my outlook!

Mick always starts the Good Morning thread. It's sort of a tradition. Confusion reigns if he goes away!

Honestly we are not at all cliquey. Any chumminess is only because of regular postings! You kind of ‘get to know’ one another is all.

Ok, maybe there is something I don't know. I will not post there but if there is a reason I will respect that. I am glad Gabriella posted there as a poster upthread mentioned and hope she will come back. She was contentious and some posters did not like her, however we are all different and cannot like everyone, I found her forceful style interesting to read.

I think we are all protective of Mick for the sincerest of wishes. No offence will have been intended putting you off starting it rafichagran ....maybe the wording or explanation could have been better put? I recall sending Pantglas a p.m. about the same thing when she was a newbie to that thread and she didn’t take offence and continues to post every day.

Sorry Marydoll I did not answer you question. I do not post on Soops Kitchen or welcome to new posters, due to time restraints I only read /post on certain forums, there are also forums I avoid or have no interest in.
I have had a personnel attack on me before in a post I wrote some time ago, it was my 1st actually. I am lucky it did not bother me and I can stand my corner, however this can cause upset to other posters.

I think we have to be mindful that Gransnet is for everyone and so what if another poster starts the Good Morning thread. Just because it is tradition does not make it right or mean it cannot be changed sometime.

She mentioned that she was moving house, so perhaps she is busy!

kitty no-one knows but she’s very involved with the SNP and I would imagine she’s v busy with election work atm

Do we need a wide range of views if these views are offensive? And if this these views are challenged should they be dismissed with the accusation of ‘snowflakes’?
