Sad to read that Harry, Megan and Archie will not be with the royal family for Christmas. The Queen and Prince Phillip are so elderly now, who knows if they will be here next year. It would have been lovely to see photos of the family with the little family included. Sign of the times, when even the royal family are being pulled apart.sad

Anniebach. There were three in the marriage on the wedding day!!!

ReadyMeals Sun 24-Nov-19 14:30:37

Lisagran in fact we know so little we might as well not start these threads. However, for most people it is reasonable to use newspaper reports as a starting point. We know they might be making things up but unless we suspend disbelief a bit we'd have to stop talking about royalty at all and I think that would be even more dangerous. There should be a presumed caveat of "according to something I read"

Calendargirl Sun 24-Nov-19 14:29:50

We don’t know how much the Queen sees of Philip. Probably as much as she wants to. We are not party to when they spend time together.

Lisagran Sun 24-Nov-19 14:27:35

I’m astonished at 2 things on this thread -

1. The cattiness afforded to Prince Harry’s wife. She has faults - haven’t we all? - but she’s a human being....

2. The authority with which some people speak of the Royal Family - as if they have inside information about their thoughts and actions

Re the latter - they would together decide - surely that should be prefaced with I imagine. We don’t know do we?!

Anniebach Sun 24-Nov-19 14:25:56

Nothing has been rewritten regarding Charles and Diana, some see her as a victim, some as a schemer .

How can anyone who has had several affairs say ‘there were three in the marriage’, there were at least five.

ReadyMeals Sun 24-Nov-19 14:25:31

Pinkquartz I think how I would have advised Meghan was to meet her father from time to time but make sure it's in a neutral place such as a hotel and that there are trustworthy witnesses such as a personal secretary with them and steer completely clear of any personal conversation. Just play with the kid, have tea and say goodbye for another few months. Then if he was intending to use the meeting for some undesirable agenda he would be unable to do so. He might be a perfectly genuine loving father but I do not totally trust him - still less that half sister - and don't blame Meghan for being wary

Anniebach Sun 24-Nov-19 14:22:35

I have sympathy for Mr Markle and yes we have many estranged threads where sympathy is extended to a grandparent.

wicklowwinnie Sun 24-Nov-19 14:20:39

Well, pinkquartz-Charles behaviour in the past was very questionable, but like everything, it's all been rewritten!!! Remember how he treated Diana? Before and after that wedding!!

pinkquartz Sun 24-Nov-19 14:13:08

Charles wants to keep the RF from being finished.
Apparently they continue to rule because of our Goodwill.

Perhaps another Referendum?

Seriously Charles wants to keep the Monarchy going and he at least understands that they have to behave a certain way.

pinkquartz Sun 24-Nov-19 14:07:24

I thought that being as this is Gransnet there would be some sympathy for the poor man being told he will never see his grandson.....
I don't care how many men she slept with .
I have slept about a bit myself when younger so I will not judge that behaviour, but I do judge her cruel streak.

Anniebach Sun 24-Nov-19 14:06:10

I don’t think they badgered the Queen, they would together decide what was the right action to take , Charles has had much to do with decisions regarding the monarchy for quite some time.

They keep silent on their views regarding family matters, with the exception of one minor royal who does yet realise she is
a minor royal.

ReadyMeals Sun 24-Nov-19 13:45:43

Gonegirl I think Charles and William badgered her into what she did to Andrew

ReadyMeals Sun 24-Nov-19 13:45:05

Also I think she should spend some time in peace with her husband.

Gonegirl Sun 24-Nov-19 13:44:34

No way is she losing her grip! Sorry, but I'm just not having that. She does seem to work more closely with Charles now which is a good thing.

ReadyMeals Sun 24-Nov-19 13:41:45

She can retire and set up a regency that's not the same as abdication. She's done years of wonderful duty but now she's losing her grip a bit. I don't mean she's got dementia, I mean she's somehow being sidelined by her family and doesn't have the same authority with the people who matter, such as prime ministers

Gonegirl Sun 24-Nov-19 12:22:18

(No.Not ask the Queen though)

Gonegirl Sun 24-Nov-19 12:21:23

Anyone would have to have a pass to enter anywhere in Buck House.

Gonegirl Sun 24-Nov-19 12:20:24

I wish you'd stop using initials Sw. Took me ages yesterday to work out who you were referring to. (It was the young girl he had his arm round. Can't remember her name)

Anniebach Sun 24-Nov-19 11:49:55

It’s what republicans do Calendargirl

Why would security asked the queen if a woman with no criminal record should be allowed into a private apartment in Buckingham Palace,

The queen should be contacted to give permission to everyone who enters a building which has several private apartments? I think not

Calendargirl Sun 24-Nov-19 11:35:43

I wish you would stop going on about HM abdicating suziewoozie, she won’t.

suziewoozie Sun 24-Nov-19 11:29:59

The Queen can most certainly be held responsible for who enters the royal estates. No one turns up without security being informed in advance and vetting should be mandatory Once the JE first prosecution happened and the role of GM was common knowledge, that woman should never have been allowed anywhere near. HM is responsible for ensuring that her security people are fit for purpose through the channels of her (many) staff. If she’s not up to the job - and she’s not- she should damn well abdicate and there should be an enquiry into exactly how and which people are approved for entry into the royal estates. If PA wants to meet with an alleged pimp, he’s got plenty of shady mates who’ll lend him a villa ( with benefits) without using BP.

Anniebach Sun 24-Nov-19 11:07:10

The Queen cannot be held responsible for guests invited to private apartments in Buck House. Doubt Anne, Harry has to ask her permission before they invite anyone to their private apartments

Gonegirl Sun 24-Nov-19 10:27:13

I have it on the very best authority that when she was plotting to ensnare PH ( I think that was before she was born) she cast a spell on PA to make sure he involved himself in the GM/JE set. Then when she did marry, PA was all set upto divert attention away from the chef. ( oh yes and wanting to have Ghristmas with her mum). So yes, of course she’s a she-devil.Poor,poor PA because obvs if you think about it properly, what he’s done is as nothing compared with her plots to <checks OP> Oh yes pull the RF apart., Damn clever

grin Excellent.

suziewoozie Sun 24-Nov-19 10:22:02

And no annie her father owns the letter and can give it to who he wants - it’s those who publish it who are liable. We covered all this a while ago - in great detail.

suziewoozie Sun 24-Nov-19 10:20:23

Oh no - not the letter. OMG. The letter, the letter, the letter. Meanwhile over at BP news emerges of PA ( mate of paedophile, guest at parties with allegedly traffic young women, visitor to private island known locally as Paedophile Island etc etc ) having GM and some of her mates ( and we all know who she mixes with) over to BP this summer. This was when the JE investigation was in full flow again. So our gracious majesty has no oversight or control over who is invited to BP? But still I digress, where was I ? Oh yes, the letter, the letter.
