Charles is heir to the throne, Ann does much for charity as does Edward so the numbers have been slimmed down, exception is Harry, all the privileges for very little work.

Spending Christmas day with the Queen isn't a royal duty, it is a tradition. Remembering the Sussexes' snub of the Queen's invitation in the summer,when they were able to visit Elton John and she flew to America that weekend to watch a tennis match, it would have been courteous to have spent a day at least with the Queen, bearing in mind that their income derives, not from the taxpayer, but from the Sovereign's Grant and the Duchy of Cornwall.

I bet the Queen doesn't care.

Is having Christmas dinner with the family a “royal duty”? I know we pay to gawp at them, but surely they can have Christmas Day off and do their own thing if that’s what they want.

I have no problem with M and H spending alternate Christmas with different families. Of course Meghan wants to spend some time with her mother, as did Katherine. What I do object to is their constant whining about how hard done by they are and then telling other people ( the plebs) how they should live when they themselves do the exact opposite.

I would like all the Royals except for the direct descendants of the heirs to the throne to find outside jobs and fend for themselves. M and H seem to want to spend a few weeks in the USA because they need a 'rest'. Apparently another 90+ year in the family doesn't need a rest though. How much will that holiday jolly cost the taxpayer in security alone? No, I've had enough of that pair. Time for Meghan to return to acting and Harry get himself a nice little charity job somewhere.

I think having a monarchy is an outdated concept and it would be a good idea, once the queen dies, to just let the rest of them quietly fade from the picture, at the same time as reducing their funding over a period of 5-8 years to give them time to adjust to their new financial situation. (It's not going to happen of course, at least not in my lifetime).

Apart from the obnoxious and sinister Andrew, my dislike is of the monarchical system and I have no strong feelings about the individuals within it.

However, I dislike witch hunts and the constant criticisms of even the dead Diana (who at least did something worthwhile during her short life - eg her land mine, AIDS, and leprosy campaigns). Now her least favoured son Harry and his wife Meghan are the new targets.. As usual anniebach you are at the forefront of any spiteful comments aimed at these three people.

I do think it would have been nice for them to have been with the Royal Family and to have had Meghan's Mother come over and be with them, as she is Archie's maternal Grandmother and his paternal Grandmother is so very sadly no longer there, so it could have been the best solution.

Interesting times.....Meghan's court case is hotting up and Andrew's interview with Emily Maitlis is on TV tomorrow night.

I bet the Queen wishes she could use a cattle prod to keep them under control.

If Harry and Megan wish to withdraw from the DUTY they have to the Queen (and the country, as taxpayers contribute to their lavish lifestyle) then they can do so ….as long as their grace and favour house is given to more deserving , hard working young couple(s) (big enough for more than ONE couple), their expense are no longer paid by any taxpayer, but by the Queen personally, and they are relegated to the ranks of hard working young couples who have to budget carefully to pay their mortgages, child care, etc I love the RF, the Queen does a wonderful job having declared when she ascended to the throne that her life would be one of dedication to the people and her duty as Queen. I admired (ed) Harry and thought he was wonderful when he instigated the Invictus Games ...a fantastic achievement but now it is really time he stepped up to the mark and accepted that he and his wife CANNOT be an ordinary couple and OWE a duty to the Queen and country as long as he wishes to remain a privileged Prince of the United Kingdom
