Sad to read that Harry, Megan and Archie will not be with the royal family for Christmas. The Queen and Prince Phillip are so elderly now, who knows if they will be here next year. It would have been lovely to see photos of the family with the little family included. Sign of the times, when even the royal family are being pulled apart.sad

Prince Andrew has been accused by a credible witness of rape of a minor

He should be interviewed by police under caution not in a deferential interview with the BBC

This is 2019

Some people appear to think royalty should be able to get away with raping children

Shameful

Ready I still think you are not engaging with the fact that PA knew JE was a convicted paedophilic and STILL went to stay at his home which had a regular steam of young girls coming and going. In his ‘interview’ (or as some of us would call it PR exercise allowed by HM and facilitated by the BBC ( long term home of Savile) he said staying there was the honourable thing to do - well honestly FFS. I also have to say that EM has gone even further down in my estimation for participating in this grubby piece of shit.

Anniebach you're right. The law that applies to each crime is that of the country it took place in. Although the waters are a little muddied in that a new law was passed in recent years that makes it an offence for any of our people to go to.... is it Tailand? for the purposes of paedophilia. Not sure how they apply that. I expect the person has to come back first before they can be arrested

ReadyMeals Sat 16-Nov-19 14:17:46

Iam64 I didn't say that made it ok, I said it made it possible Andrew didn't know there was any coercion or grooming. It was very unwise of him, as it was fairly inevitable this was going to come out and look dreadful. And as I have said elsewhere it could still be a lie and maybe he didn't touch her sexually at all. You can't really tell from the photo.

ReadyMeals Sat 16-Nov-19 14:14:12

Pinkquartz, yes possibly! I agree it makes it all very sleazy but all the same, nothing criminally indictable unless they can show the prince colluded with Epstein in any form of pressure upon this girl. It still wouldn't be an underage sex trial but it could be some other offence. But since in a criminal trial the burden of proof is on the prosecution it could be hard to prove. Epstein can no longer be subpoenaed either. I think this will leave a smell around the Prince but no other consequences. It's still possible of course that the photo is all that happened and he never saw her before or since. I mean lots of people would be happy to have a photo of them with a member of the royal family and at the time Andrew really may have thought nothing of it. Heck he might have posed with EVERY person at that party so they could have a souvenir!

Whitewavemark2 Sat 16-Nov-19 14:12:31

So much is being pushed to one side by the police with our criminal elite, it is beginning to get very worrying.

Have just heard
@maitlis
about her interview with Prince Andrew

Feel deeply queasy about the deferential state of British society and BBC in 2019

IMAGINE any one else accused of child rape being treated like this rather than being interviewed by police under caution

Anniebach Sat 16-Nov-19 13:34:15

When an American is in this country are they under American or British law ?

People from other countries have been charged and sentenced
under British law.

The American woman who was driving on the wrong side of the road and killed a young man was able to flee , not because of American law but diplomatic immunity

Iam64 Sat 16-Nov-19 13:30:29

The age of consent differs in different US states, I seem to recall that one of the allegations is that PA had sex with the young woman in Florida, where the age of consent is 18.

ready meals -your suggestion that the young woman 'put on an act' so PA didn't 'force her' shocks me. This young woman was groomed into being sexually exploited by Epstein when she was 15 years of age. The fact he's a millionaire who used to mix with the rich and famous makes such grooming no less disgusting, imoral or illegal than the child sexual exploitation that took place by cab drivers, owners of takeaways, ie night time workers.

PA had a friendship with a man who seems to have always had a stream of young women available to his male friends. Does anyone not find that to say the very least, very unpleasant. I think anyone with any common decency would not get involved.

pinkquartz Sat 16-Nov-19 12:51:45

readymeals

but she was underage according to American Law and she is American.

Perhaps that was a reason for bringing her over to London

suziewoozie Sat 16-Nov-19 12:28:00

Ready firstly, he stayed at JE’s house after JE was convicted and secondly, look at the age gap even if the sex was ‘consensual’ - whatever that means when you’re a spoilt brat used to getting everything you lay your eyes on. There’s also the suggestion of ‘ sex trafficking’ in that sbe was brought over for sexual purposes.

suziewoozie Sat 16-Nov-19 12:24:13

Excellent point Smileness not a word about the victims. Not a word. HM and her advisers approved every word of this interview- they have lost the plot.

ReadyMeals Sat 16-Nov-19 12:22:50

Regarding the Prince Andrew thing, this is the first time they've made it clear the sexual activity with this woman had taken place in London. That means that tacky as it may have been with the age difference, it wasn't actually underage and therefore perfectly legal. She says she was forced, but if she put on an act of being willing, how was Andrew to know? I doubt if he himself forced her. We already knew his life could be a little bit tacky so really this is looking like a non-story and adds or subtracts nothing

suziewoozie Sat 16-Nov-19 12:22:48

The whole evil MegHan Christmas story is a wrong headed attempt by BP to divert attention from PA. It’s working with some but thankfully not all of us.

Smileless2012 Sat 16-Nov-19 12:20:32

I think the interview will backfire from the clips I saw this morning. I shan't be watching it. He came across very badly especially when he said he's let 'the Royal family down'.

He let down all victims of sexual abuse my being a friend of a convicted sex offender.

Summerlove Sat 16-Nov-19 12:15:22

How on earth do we “know “ that it would have been nice to spend Christmas at Sandringham etc etc We seem to have our own opinion about what the RF should or should not do and that is all it is, an opinion and frankly, none of anybody else’s business

I’m curious if everyone here always did exactly what their husbands grandmother expected for Christmas as Meghan is expected to.

suziewoozie Sat 16-Nov-19 12:13:28

Hopefully this interview ( approved by HM) will backfire.

suziewoozie Sat 16-Nov-19 12:12:34

Why can’t he remember. Delete as applicable
A) he’s lying
B) there’s been so many of them that they all blur into one

pinkquartz Sat 16-Nov-19 12:11:51

anniebach

yes it was a stupid way I put it.

I meant to infer that he can't remember not because it never happened but because he was too drunk or something.
He says it as if it is a valid way to claim innocence.

pinkquartz Sat 16-Nov-19 12:09:49

Andrew is claiming that he stayed at his friend's place
( Epstein the pedophile),
because he is "too honourable" and he just can't help being such an honourable person.
I feel sick at being expected to swallow this.
He needs to be in Court.

Anniebach Sat 16-Nov-19 12:00:40

How can anyone answer - ‘why don’t you remember?’

pinkquartz Sat 16-Nov-19 11:50:54

Time to withdraw all their money and crack the whip.......it is too much.
Going to church is not working

what is charity work exactly?

Oopsminty Sat 16-Nov-19 11:50:25

I bet Christmas with the Royals could be rather stressful to an outsider

pinkquartz Sat 16-Nov-19 11:49:14

But was Andrew asked why he didn't remember?
too much alcohol or drugs can affect memory I am told shock

it's bit much that he gets to put across his view on public paid for TV
He should be in a law court.
A TV interview is utter bulls**t angry

MawB Sat 16-Nov-19 11:41:03

The Royal Family ??? really ??? what kind of a family role model is this that includes adultery right at the top that has lasted for years and years and years? Such sentimentalism is totally misplaced. There is nothing whatsoever to look up to in this family and whilst I fully accept that other families may have all the same problems, other families don't receive the shocking amount of support or have the accumulated wealth that the Royal Family has. Let whoever wants in that particular family do what they want to do and let's cut their allowances
