I had a lie in this am, day off. Windy so washing out, it's still out though, as it rained so heavily whilst i went food shopping, it's sopping!
I've taken 2 bags to the charity, vacuumed the house again & cleaned up for the umpteenth time. We are moving in Dec & have just had building work etc..
Ordered a new mattress and sorted some packing. I've had only chocolate & brioche buns today ,so now need to cook dinner as so hungry..

What I did today No.2
(433 Posts)I so much enjoyed hearing about everyone's daily happenings but the thread seems to have withered and died, so I'm reviving it.
Please don't think your day to day tasks sound mundane, they're not to me.
Lemongrove love Bampton and Aston Pottery. It is not that far from us and we go to Banpton Opera in the Deanery most summers.
DS is a Morris dancer and Folklorist and sometimes comes home specially to visit the Morris dancing day in May.
It was really windy this morning but I felt I must go out for a walk. I walked 20 minutes to the shops and popped into the butchers to buy some mince. I had a cheeky chat with the butcher and he said "See you again, sweetheart." I know it might sound silly but I walked home with a spring in my step.
Went to U3A table tennis first thing. Since then made a fish pie for tea, made a loaf of bread ( in bread maker so dead easy!) DH and I moved our bed and hoovered underneath it. It was so dusty!!
Finally getting over the lurgy. Sadly Mr C is still struggling so listened to him cough, a lot. Put a chilli in the slow cooker with enough to freeze for three more meals. Made sausage rolls, took some to a neighbour and chatted with her for an hour. Bits and pieces in the shops this afternoon. Thoroughly enjoyed it all. Good to feel energy coming back.
Got up , had breakfast, then went back to bed as I'm still not sleeping well since my op. Got up, showered, dressed then DD came and took me shopping as I can't drive until the weekend. Came home had lunch, then friend came and took me to our sewing class. Now home and sorting supper as DH starting a cold and he will need early night.
Pottered about for a bit, chatted to DH, sorted the washing and was just deciding what to do when DD3 called. She was in a panic thinking she’d left her straightener on at home. Well, car has died so I caught 2 buses to go to her house. Arrived to find the offending equipment was off. Tidied the kitchen and sitting room, put the dishwasher on and did some hand washing up. Hung the washing on the clothes horses, helped myself to a mini Twix and coffee, watched Bargain Hunt and then did the reverse journey.
Arrived home to find the parcel I’d been waiting for (Parcel Force) could not be delivered. Tried to rearrange online but it wouldn’t accept the number on the card. Called the centre to be met with an automated voice. Put the tracking no. in again, not recognised. It asked for my address, name etc and I finally managed to arrange redelivery. I loathe talking to computers! Didn’t put the call down and guess what? A real person answered the phone. Apparently the driver had failed to put the suffix GB on the number. I had a grumble! Hung my own washing up and now I’m going to make a pot of tea!
Not the day I planned but never mind. It helped my DD out and she said I was wonderful. It’s lovely to be appreciated.
lemongrove - I'm well envious, sounds so idyllic and Christmassy too.
Really beautiful day here in Oxfordshire, crisp Autumn weather with all the trees on the turn in all shades. We went to the lovely village of Bampton which is near to us, and for any Downton fans, it’s where it’s filmed, the church and village etc.Always a nice place to walk around, lots of very old houses and great architecture. We went to the church there for the 11.am two minute silence ( just sat there in silence for a while)
And then to the next village Aston, where we like to visit the amazing pottery/ gifts/ tea room.Had tea and scones then bought some Christmassy bits and bobs.
Home for lunch, then a few household chores before picking up grandchildren from school.
I was out this morning returning goods which I had already bought, silly me. Went to re-assure my nice lady who sews any soft furnishings I require, she thought she had made my new cushions on the wrong side of the material (she hadn't). Had lunch. DH and I went to Dobbies to take advantage of their 20% off as DH had a gift card for £30 to spend (great) only thing is he forgot the damn card. Now back to look at purchases I bought without gift card. Going to prepare my Xmas card labels then sit down around 3 for a cup of nice coffee. DH fuming with himself
I'd had a very full weekend, including lunch with the PM
Well I don't think my weekend can compare to yours Bradford!
Saturday to the cinema to see 'The Irishman' - fantastic, even at over three hours long! Followed by dinner out. Sunday to theatre - The Watsons as The Menier Chocolate Factory - excellent, preceded by lunch in their lovely restaurant.
This morning I've been skim-reading the book
for tonight's bookclub dinner. Now off out to Peter Jones for a bit of a mooch.
I've been to Aquafit, done some shopping, sorted washing, returned phone call, had lunch, spoke to nice man who'd brought round some interesting info for one of my talks, fed the cat.
I will do another washing then catch up on TV. Lovely.
Very dark and miserable here today. All the lights on and it's lunchtime.
Boiler man came. We have been without heating and hot water for 3 days. Did loads of washing whilst waiting for him to come. Which I shall have to dry indoors as it has just started to rain. Lovely to have warmth though
Walked the dogs then went to the Armistice ceremony in the next town where our Association was representing the English community. Fortunately the rain held off.
I observed the two minute silence, then put Radio 4 on and listened to a programme giving the history of The Last Post and the American Taps.
DH has been to Lidl and taken DS's little dog for a very bracing walk.
I'm going to try and wash my hair too, not easy with my back being so painful. My hair is thick like Marydoll's.
What a great day you had BradfordLass72. I love hearing about everyone's day.
Joio.
I looked after my gd for a couple of hours as my dil had an appointment. Then met a friend for coffee at the gym before our class. The whole gym observed the 2 minute silence. Now I have come home and it’s lovely to have some winter sunshine filling the house. I should get on and get some jobs done but I haven’t even showered or changed yet. Thinking food actually!
It’s a beautiful day, the sun is shining although there is a chilly wind.
I’m just back from doing a little shopping, I observed the 2 minutes silence in the dairy aisle.
After a weekend away with an old friend I woke this morning thinking that I should count my blessings.
Now for the ironing.
Early start this morning as our little rescue dog is now demanding an early walk. When she arrived 6 weeks ago she didn't even know what a walk was. Now it is the highlight of her day. I know I shouldn't give in but she has had such a rotten life I can't help it.
Then made some roast butternut squash soup as it is a fast day and also trying to select which painting to order for my daughter's 50th. I know roughly what she wants and our taste is very similar, but still afraid of getting it wrong.
Just got back from the village remembrance service in the church.
The school had done such a lot of artwork and had made a very modern wreath.
Now I’m off to have some keys cut.
My lovely cleaner is no longer coming, she was only here to tide us over, but already I miss her, so a quick flick round upstairs. Tomorrow will do downstairs.
I was thinking we could go out and I would drive our new car, but DH has a regular lunch group, and it's today. I had forgotten. But it has a good side, as I will not have to worry about a meal tonight. I have defrosted some Spiced Parsnip Soup, So only me here for lunch, now, what shall I have?
The second wash is in and the first is out blowing in the breeze, so hope it stays dry.
Good to see this thread resurrected BL72.
Its raining on and off here on The Wirral the weather can't make it's mind up what it's doing.
I spent this morning loading up all my information onto a new laptop which my lovely Grandson set up for me yesterday we had a great day together and he ate me out of house and home before going home to DDs for his Sunday roast.I think that boy has hollow legs.
To day we are going to try and clear some of the front garden ready for Christmas lights to out on the trees next month.
Feeling pleased with myself as I've been for a swim. Followed by a big Aldi shop - trying to get organised so that I only shop twice a week. Have put a load of washing on, about to put the soup maker on then will do a bit of work.
Wow Bradford Lass what a lovely weekend you’ve had .?
Made a cuppa for H and I then ate the breakfast he cooked. Loaded the dishwasher and cleaned the kitchen.
No plans for me today as H is attending a funeral with a friend they and the deceased played rugby together back in the day. I may have to pick H up from the wake later. Until then I will amuse myself with some day time TV
Funnily enough Bradford Lass I’d had a similar thought this morning. Great minds think alike! Or is is ‘fools seldom differ’?

It’s noon here in Malaga. I’ve been on my iPad ALL morning! Oh dear. It’s SO addictive. I’m worse than the kids I see stuck to their iPhones. Mine’s a secret habit. I had to pull myself away to read my book club novel over the weekend. That’s how bad it’s getting!
Off for a shower and hair wash now. Unlike you Marydoll I have fine hair. Mum used to say about her own that she’d ‘seen better hair on bacon’. Still makes me smile to think of that.
I’m off out in a couple of hours to meet ‘my ladies’. No men allowed.
??
I shall be leaving this iPad here ....
