Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but its looking wet outside here in Brackley .
Today is a quiet day, but the building and my flat is being checked out for asbestos , so have to vacate flat whilst they do it.
There is also a new fire alarm system being installed in all flats.

Good morning Mick & all from damp& grey Nottingham. Shopping with DH for a few new things for kitchen & decide on blinds, there is too much choice.
Kalu I noticed the same at B&Q very little choice in Dulux paint. They have Valspar which we found just as good &great choice.
Hope the meeting goes well EllenVannin such a shame not all the family offering support.
Happy Birthday Yiayia4
Hope you get your meds Marydoll sounds like you had a lovely catch up with friends y’day.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. I was awake at some ridiculous hour so I am late coming round. It’s my birthday today and the weather is dreary. We are going out to an Italian restaurant for dinner this evening and I am looking forward to it.
Gilly I am so sorry for your plight and wish I could help. It’s very brave of you to let us into your life at the moment. Much love to you?.

Good morning from the NE coast . Long post alert !

Well Monday has come around again. It used to be my worst day of the week but they are all exactly the same now.

Still no change in DH. He is still in the induced coma, heavily sedated with what seems like a million drugs pumping into him to keep him alive. One drug for this, another for that and another to counteract the effects of the first one etc. It’s like a vicious circle .

I await the visit of the microbiologist today who will no doubt come up with yet another cocktail of antibiotics .

I sat up until the early hours catching up on DH’s “Life Support” diary which is designed to help fill in the blanks for those patients who do eventually recover and need to understand what they have been through. Very few have any real memory of what has happened in the missing days/weeks/months but almost all patients suffer from some degree of PTSD . Apparently these diaries help make sense of things .

Anyway to answer a few questions from yesterday’s thread.

My dad and I have never had a close relationship. I was terrified of him as a child and have written about this in the past. He was always a control freak and his word was final. Although he was never violent towards my mum he was absolutely THE BOSS. My mum being the gentle lady she was would never question his word. He was a rubbish grandfather to my children although he would buy them a pair of shoes he didn’t want the hassle of his house being messed up or he and my mum having to give up their time to babysit. I made my bed and I jolly well lay in it !

When my mum became seriously ill he did mellow quite a bit and since she died and his own health has deteriorated (he is very unsteady) he has been forced to soften as he is quite reliant on me taking him shopping, hospital appointments etc.

The reasons I did not want him to come to the hospital are purely selfish on my behalf as ;

a) he brings me no comfort at all , coming out with such gems as “calm down” which is exactly what he would have said to my mum.
b) I cannot forget the man he was (my problem I know)
c) I have the added worry of either having to leave my DH to take him home or worrying about him walking to/from the bus stop (as I said he is very unsteady on his feet).

With regards to the business and without boring you all with the details, it is in a very specialised field of electrical engineering and taking someone on to run the place would be impossible as it would take months of training for them to understand what it is we do. The lads we have left have been with us for many years and there is no way I could get someone “off the shelf “ to just walk in and take the reins .

The bank don’t give a monkeys toot how much into overdraft I go (they wont refuse any direct debits or payments for a while yet) as they have the entire debt secured on mine and DH’s home. They cannot lose . My problem is that if/when I am forced to sell the winner will take all . When you are in a deep hole shouldn’t you stop digging?

Anyway there it is in a rather large nutshell. A right piece of cr*p isn’t it?

Never mind . I’m just about ready to leave for the hospital again, it’s really hard to get parked on weekday mornings and don’t get me started on the cost.

Hoping I can share some better news soon and thank you all again for the continued messages, good wishes and prayers I truly appreciate each and every one .

I hope GrannyGravy’s baby grandson is getting better and will be out of hospital soon (apologies if he already is I’m like a push-me pull-you at the moment) . To others who are suffering ill health or feeling down I wish you lots of sunshine sunshine and to those enjoying good times, trips and holidays long may they continue.

Love Gilly xx

On the hunt for meds and needles theme: I had to plead with the late night pharmacy on Saturday for more needles for FiL diabetes. Anyone overhearing would have thought I was an addict. Got them eventually after the Pharmacist phoned NHS24 to confirm. I suppose I am glad that they are careful but what a palava!
I hope you find your elusive meds Marydoll soon.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 04-Nov-19 08:40:27

Goodmorning Mick and all x

I can confirm Sar53 it is bright and sunny in our part of the world! As you were away at the weekend you missed the "Big Beach Bang" (very large firework display) on Saturday and all the traffic chaos it brings!!

I shall be pickling my onions this morning before going to the gym and then visiting our young baby GS for lots of cuddles.

Thinking of the gillybobs, feel so helpless, wish I could just give her a huge hug flowers

Yiayia4 Mon 04-Nov-19 08:36:51

Hope you yet your meds Mary. It is very stressful - I was trying to track down needles last week for DH - apparently the supplier had run out!

Good morning from dull and damp North Yorkshire.
First load of washing on. It will have to go in the dryer I think. Dentist this morning then catching up with friends this afternoon.
We won the pub quiz last night and got all the questions right! We were joined by a younger relative of one of the team who was great on the music and TV questions.
Hope you get your meds Marydoll. Thinking of Gilly and hoping for better news.
Wishing you all a good day.

Yiayia4 Mon 04-Nov-19 08:26:51

Lins1066 Mon 04-Nov-19 08:18:18

Marydoll - your meds!

Lins1066 Mon 04-Nov-19 08:16:50

Good morning from a wet S Welsh coast.
I prefer cold, crisp weather.

In pain as I tried to do too much yesterday, which wasn't much at all really. That will teach me. I have a long way to go I think.
Hope you track down your mess Marydoll and that the meeting goes well for your GD and her children EllanVannin.
Hope gillybob receives some much needed support.?

Sar53 Mon 04-Nov-19 08:15:15

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea, although we've obviously had some rain overnight.
We arrived home yesterday afternoon after a couple of days on the Wirral meeting up with DH's family. A busy couple of days and lots of driving.
Shopping and housework for me today.
Lots of love for Gillybobs and her H.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from Northampton where it's damp, but the sky is brightening.

Awaiting arrival of DGDs; their schools have training days, so it's grandma care again. I am thinking of taking them to Sainsbury's for lunch, where they can have some of their favourite chocolate cake for pudding. Their mum starts her new job today, so hope all goes well for her.

A lovely concert yesterday afternoon listening to the glorious Elgar Cello Concerto, a brilliant young soloist, (from Azerbaijan). I always think that Elgar should have saved the best till last, and swapped the first and last movements.

Thoughts are with Gilly and everyone else with worries.

Mythbirtthedragon Mon 04-Nov-19 08:10:48

Good morning from east London, lots of rain earlier but dry now and brightening up. Tennis at lunchtime then picking up GD for her swimming lesson and minding til DD gets home. DP will be staying at home as he wants to get the basement cleaned (and possibly reshelved) so we’ve got somewhere to store stuff when we get round to having the carpets fitted. There are 2 things left over that the builder needs to do first and it’s starting to get a bit frustrating. DS went back to uni yesterday (so quiet/empty without him) and he did express an opinion that by the time he came back at Xmas, we wouldn’t still be walking on carpet tacks. Have the best day you can.

Urmstongran Mon 04-Nov-19 08:00:15

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s sunny at the balcony side of the building but there are dark clouds over the mountains when I opened the front door - so either way for tuppence today it seems Pantglas!

My husband had crept out when I woke half an hour ago - he likes to go out for an early morning walk out here.

I’m meeting my ladies for wine at 2pm. Only 3 of us this afternoon to catch up on any news since we left in mid September. I always enjoy our session!

Thinking as ever of you dear gillybob Hope you get your tablets today Marydoll that will be making you anxious now you’re on the last one - not good for your blood pressure! Very stressful.

Hope Monday is kind to us all whether we have any plans or none. x

harrigran Mon 04-Nov-19 08:00:14

Good morning from a dull, damp NE.
It is washing day and DH has already made a start, I will vacate my bed and strip it shortly. New mattress needs rotating.
Thinking of you Gilly and praying for some better news.

Brunette10 Mon 04-Nov-19 07:58:11

Good Morning from a very wet Fife. Weekend's weather allowed us to start and now complete our front lounge. All decorated and put back together again. DH did very well. No plans for today but as usual won't be sitting on my laurels wink. Thinking of you all who have colds, coughs, flu and those who have much more serious ailments. Look after yourself. Marydoll I certainly hope you get good news ref your meds. Thinking of our gilly of course.

EllanVannin Mon 04-Nov-19 07:51:33

Good Morning All x.
Damp and dreary a typical November morn. In fact it's raining as one of the cats has just come in shaking her fur all over the place.

Attending a meeting this morning re. support for GD and her children where each family member can offer their help to lighten the load during her depression. Should be interesting considering 2 sets of grandparents have remained very much in the background----unbelievable and shocking !! Some people would leave you speechless with their sheer selfishness and self-centredness.

Thoughts go to the Gillybobs and hoping it was a calmer night than of late x.

Hope everyone else is fighting fit ready to begin a new week.
( fighting for breath and fit for nothing ) my old mum used to say.

NfkDumpling Mon 04-Nov-19 07:43:10

Morning All

Grey, overcast and still here in the north of Norfolk.

Can’t stop - must get dressed - have a dentist appointment in town at 8.15! At least it’s only five minutes walk away.

Big (((Hugs))) as always for gilly and all those in need. I found myself giving out real ones yesterday. Amazing what a hug can do.

Kalu Mon 04-Nov-19 07:39:03

Good morning everyone from a dreich, wet Glasgow

A disturbed sleep for me too coughing throughout the night.

Hope the work being done in your flat isn’t too distuptive Mick

Off to search for Dulux & F&B paint today. When we looked a few days ago, very little supply of dulux to be found in B&Q now so will hopefully find what we need in Homebase ?

Love and strong healing vibes for you and your DH gilly?
