Bidets are common in some countries. When we lived in Brazil we had one in our house, and many hotels did, too. That said, we still used loo roll.

You can get loos that squirt water up at your bottom when you have finished.
A friend stayed somewhere that had one. She and her husband decided to film it. She had to sit down to trigger the action, so she did but didn’t leap off early enough. One wet pair of trousers and a flooded floor?.

Oh, yeuk! No, no, never, no way, not at all under any circumstances.

That is utterly gross and vile.

P.s. and we get het up here about chlorinated chicken.

There must be better ways of saving resources! This is a revolting idea and, as others have said, I can't see how it can be environmentally friendly.

Erm, GROSS.

I'm a nurse. I don't really have an issue with poop. (Goodness knows I've cleaned up a lot!) I have no problem with reusable nappies or sanitary products. But I think reusable loo roll takes the biscuit!

Lemongrove when we lived in tropical Africa much of the land used to grow fruit and veg was manured with human ordure. That meant anything eaten raw had to be sterilised before consumption. On my shopping days I'd have to come home and put the fruit & veg to soak in a solution of Milton. Imagine soaking and then drying a lettuce!

So that uses water and puts chlorine into the system, too, plus all your fresh stuff tasted vaguely of bleach. Nice.

I'd be happy to use the attachment at the side of the loo if it was warm water but it's not.

Maybe we should adopt the toilet shower thingy used in Middle East (its a small shower hose that sits at the side of the toilet), it is very effective and refreshing, a small flannel could then be used to dry to save toilet paper (I don't know if Arabs etc. dry). I used toilet paper to dry.

Some climate change people won’t be happy until we are living on turnips and rice ( organic of course) and planted with our own ‘manure’! The fields ploughed by oxen and our clothes woven from flax.

If they only use it when going for a wee I really don't see the point. They could just try and use less paper if they feel that strongly. Using it when going for a dump is disgusting and what it saved on paper would more than be accounted for with boil washes and bleach etc. I sometimes feel were going back to the dark ages these days. No I won't be giving up paper but I'll try to use the minimum required.

I would have thought that the amount of soap powder, energy to run the washing machine and drying etc, not to mention the using water first, would far out way the using of paper.
