Wouldn't it just be wonderful if we did have a GN flying squad. A sight to behold for sure.
I think your sister needs to do her bit for your dad.

Good morning to all who are here already and to those who are to come a bit later.

We had an unexpected visit from DD and her DH yesterday lunchtime. They came bearing food parcels, that will be easy to cook from the freezer. I must say I was grateful, as I had had an AF bout during the night, so wasn't feeling up to much

Gilly,I hope the antibiotics start to do their work and you see some improvement.
I totally understand your concern about your children and grandchildren but I am sure they are just as concerned about you and know that you need to give your time to yourself and your husband at the moment.
If your sister is unable to get your dads shopping could your son take him or maybe do an online shopping order?

Oh, Gillybob - I hope the hospital are able to sort out effective medication for your husband soon - sounds like they are trying really hard. Poor you - it must be taking its’ toll - hope you are eating well to keep up your strength. ‘Selfish’ is a ridiculous word to use - you are the most unselfish person in GN! This situation is what it is and you must do the best for your husband. Very best wishes to you xx

No appointments today, just waiting for plumber to let us know when he will service boiler in our second home. The place is sold but needs to be kept heated.
Thank you for the update gilly, there are no words that can make your situation any easier but we are here willing you the strength to carry on.

Bless you Gilly. I wish you had more support and really don't know how I would cope in such a difficult situation as yours. Please try to look after yourself (easier said than done, I know).
Everyone here is thinking of you and DH. I pray he recovers soon and you get some relief from such troubled times.

gilly there is no way in this world that you are being selfish. I’m in agreement with dragonfly about your sister doing stuff for your dad.

gillybob Please do not feel guilty for putting your dear husband first and foremost. I am sure your family would feel bad if they thought you were worrying about what you cannot do for them.

Let's hope that one of the AB's wipes out these infections, and hopefully he will be on the long road to recovery,

Oh gilly what can I say? Just know I am thinking about you and praying for an improvement in your DH’s condition. Surely this once your sister could take your dad shopping. Sending lots of love and hugs.

Meant to add that I am beginning to feel so selfish and consumed with my own sadness and grief that I am neglecting my family, my DS has had to reduce his hours at work (losing wages with it) and my DD has lost 4 shifts too as there is no one else to look after little Evie. Nursery would just defeat the object of going to work as she is only on just over minimum wage. My dad understands that I can’t be everywhere but I really must get him some shopping this week.

What a life . How has it come to this?

Good morning from the NE coast.

I wish I could post some good news but little has changed.

It’s now day 11. My DDH is still on life support. He has lost a considerable amount of weight (didn’t think it was possible to lose so much in such a short time) which is worrying as he is quite tall man (6ft 1”) and normally lean anyway. The dietitian has increased the calories in his feed and they are now feeding him both intravenously and directly into his tummy too.

The various infections are continuing to baffle the microbiologists and he is now on 5 (or was it 7?) kinds of antibiotics in the hope that one of them hits the target. All in all he is on 21 different medications all being administered via computer into various lines in his neck and arms. My poor poor man. A lady came round yesterday and took some photographs for his LS diary which they say might help him come to terms with things later on.

They tried reducing the levels of sedation yesterday for a while but he became very distressed so it’s back up to full strength again.

Anyway I wish I had a tiny glimmer of something positive to report but sadly not yet. Big decisions to be made this week with regards to “that place” . The staff at the hospital keep saying “don’t worry about work, let others take the strain.....” etc. But they just don’t get it .

Sorry for everyone else feeling down or poorly at the moment.

Off on hols on Thursday, so ironing and packing to do. Hurt my back/hip, so no work for me today - yay! It is getting better though!

Still haven't planted my bulbs - might do it today!

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where it’s sunny and mild. This is lovely - still no heating on yet and no cardi or slippers for me either. Most unusual!

I’m off to the doctor’s surgery at 10am to the nurse led clinic for routine blood pressure check. I’ve gained a good bit of weight since my last check up. I’m a bit anxious already about this appointment. I probably do need a good talking to to set me right!

I’m envious of your reflexology appointment NfkDumpling as it’s my most favourite treatment. I used to go to a lady who was fabulous but she has left the area. It does give one the most uplifting sense of well being and positivity doesn’t it?

Thinking of you gillybob and hoping for better news this week.

Good morning from a grey and breezy South Yorkshire. It's dry though.

Coffee morning group later, then supermarket followed by a few garden chores if it stays dry. DH got the grass cut yesterday, but there are some plants that need cutting back and the dahlias need overwintering before it gets too cold.

Drizzly in South Bucks.

We are looking after both DGSs whilst their dad is away for 24 hours. The youngest has a dreadful cough and we have had an awful night with him. As we were so worried about his breathing I phoned 111 who decided he needed paramedics who said we were right to contact them and would take him into hospital with my DH to keep him company. What excellent treatment by the NHS. Just received a phone call from the patient who tells me he has been given a blue hospital teddy. The joys of being a grandparent.

Good morning from a clear calm Glasgow but as you say Marydoll, big drop in temperature noticed when I let the cat out and a waft of cold air hit me!

Five hours sleep seems to be the norm for me now so I just go with it. A sit down with my book later in the day and I doze off reluctantly having to put my book down which I am trying to read with one eye closed?
