WORD PAIRS -APRIL 2026 (Old thread full )
Here we are again...
happy as can be...
All good pals and jolly good company.
WELCOME!
Can’t you make your own Prosecco lollies?
I think Aldi had Prosecco ice lollies??
Welcome back, loopylou Your socks are amazing. I love anything colourful on my feet.
Ann Your granddaughter has most certainly been through a protracted period of serious discomfort. Sending her yet more get well soon wishes. It does help when estranged family members can act decently towards each other. A little kindness goes a very long way.
dragonfly Arms full of
. I wish they were real. You deserve a big treat.
Maw Tyke!!!
I've spent time with Surgeon - Ms Tolloczko. A lovely lady. She has seen the latest photo of the prolapse...not for those of a nervous disposition. She thinks that, during the months since the cancer was treated and now, it has become a fully fledged rectal prolapse. I've signed forms and will be going under a GA in the near future (in Oban) so that a proper lookaround inside the nether regions can take place. I can return home later that day. Once a full assessment has taken place, I shall either have more surgery in Oban -or- Glasgow if the prolapse warrants it. Very grateful for the NHS.
I'm about to visit the lady who owns Daisy. I'm looking forward to giving her the two portraits. A most satisfactory outcome.
Coming into our favourite kitchen badly needing the uplifts and humour along with the caring support.
I am rather disturbed finding you Ann planning to have this hip op and you our dear Soop in a likeways situation, although for you it is your troubled long term "nether region".
Both brave ladies whom will certainly take things in their stride and to you both I send my love and some
Wishing you both well and that badly needed recovery and return to better health.
Whilst I can well understand the up and down nature of your treatment Dragonfly and whilst sometimes the going is better than at others, you seem to be doing so very well overall..Furthermore looking good in your new head gear!!!
Not a lot to smile about here and even the thought of prosecco lollies could not get one.
Not only was my dearest informed his last treatments had failed which was such a body blow, after all he has only had 6.
Further more some of the bone pain is fast returning and the wheelchair will have to be brought back into daily use.The bigger problem is in all this waiting and such poor service right now.I phoned our MC millan nurse first thing but I have not heard a dickie bird......and of course the weekend looms.
Since I continue to lose weight I restarted vitamins and believe they have kickstarted a violent reaction within my very dodgy digestive system, so I too am virtually crawling, having suffered immense pain and just cannot take any food.
To add to our hurt feelings this bubbly 80+ at our table was one day busily planning christmas, the next she had died........a massive stroke from which she never recovered. It certainly hit us hard......it came at that worse time.Yes indeed, life can be so frail.
Thankfully we are amongst caring people, however they too have their own problems. At the moment I simply find life extremly difficult, please bear with me on those times I simply cannot join you.
We have tried to soldier on with some hope,a little optimism, just praying for at least our promised 18 months together.............but this turn of events are shaking us to the core.
Last Christmas, our Golden Wedding Anniversary,my own 80th birthday were all passed in the turmoil ..........we had simply hoped that we might have just a reasonable Christmas tide this year............Hope is fast fading.
Apologies for saying it as it is, but I must so that you all know when I am missing and why.
Nevertheless I send you all every blessing and much love XX
Oh my goodness Panache, I am so sorry to hear this, I really wish I could do or say something that would help other than that I'm sending you a virtual hug , my love and prayers ? Xx
Oh Panache,am so sorry to hear that you and your dear husband are suffering so much with your health. As loopylou says,if only we could do something to make things better for you.I send a virtual hug of my own as well as my love and prayers to you both.
Soop, please take it easy while you are waiting for these procedures.
Ann,I hope that like Soop you have a caring consultant who will take the time to listen to your worries about the procedure and answer them clearly so you can decide the best way forward.I hope your granddaughter is starting to feel better.
TOYA
Dear Panache, I am lost for words. If only us lot could do something to help ease your burden. All our messages seem meaningless in the absence of actual physical support. You try harder than the average person to cope with more than your fair share of serious difficulties. You never fail to have a kind word for us. Life can be very cruel. I am truly sorry for the latest traumas that you are having to deal with.
Dear soop, so glad your surgeon is caring and focusing on you..
Sending love to you and everyone. Things a bit topsyturvey here just now. DH is keeping his chin up. I'm just posting briefly on the other, funny, frivolous thread. ... Occasionally! Will post properly when life is a bit more normal. Xxxxxxx
TOYA
Panache, xxxxxxxxxx
My friend loves the portraits of Daisy. I'm therefore a very happy bunny.
Until tomorrow
TOYA
and love to all of you that are feeling stressed or unwell.
Love and prayers for you both Panache. I am reminded of my dad and like your dear man, he was as stoical as he could be.
Panache so sorry to hear of your trials and tribulations. Life can be very cruel.
Yet another GA Soop - getting older is no joke!
So sorry Panache we can only send love and support.
Life is so hard at times.
The funeral director I used for my H rang today to ask permission to name a heart for him to be placed on a Tree of Remembrance in a Festival of Trees at St George’s Church in Stockport.
Cue floods of tears again, I shall go and see it , it starts on Wed until Sunday.
My GD is now suffering constipation from the codeine she is taking, fortunately I have laxatives in!!!
ann it’s easy to understand now why your DGD lives with you. It is where she is loved. What a lucky girl. Hope she feels better soon.
kitty priceless
. Hope ,you and Mrkitty are feeling better soon?
panache so sorry to hear you and MrP do not have better news. I was hoping you were going to have a better time in your new home. Can’t be of much help except my daily prayers for you both. Hope the tummy improves soon x
ann my DH suffers that too and consultant said the best thing is raisins so if you have any of those that could help too.
ann Apricots are a priceless antidote to the effects of codeine. A few canned apricots, in a smoothie with other fruit would be both soothing to the throat and efficacious to the innards.
I would endorse anno’s recommendation of apricots. Even eating the “soft” dried sort can be quite dramatic!
I always think constipation is the last straw when you are on pain relief - just not fair,
I hope she feels better very soon.
Oh I wish apricots did it for me
. Live on the flipping things without effect.
. Home made carrot and coriander soup does the trick sometimes.
Hope your granddaughter is more comfortable at both ends soon ann. Can understand the tears, may I send a hug?
A difficult time for you both panache, be gentle with yourselves.
I’m delighted your issues are being taken seriously soop, please rest a bit and be as strong as you can be for the procedure.
Love the socks loupy and Persie is to be prized kitty. Hope you and Mr Lester regain energy soon. Mine has left me I think, it’s certainly hard to find.
Energy waning here so I’m off to bed. Night night everyone, TOYA.
So sorry to hear your news panache. You know we are hear if you need us!
Raising the feet on a small stool while trying to poo is a big help, ann. Try that amongst the other things mentioned.
Good morning all
Thank you for all the very helpful suggestions, we will try them all out.
L didn’t get to sleep until the early hours so I hope she will stay in bed for a few hours.
I didn’t have a good day yesterday, first the upset with the funeral director and the a decision to cut contact with a friend of over 40 years.
I posted a few weeks ago that she had upset me, well now I am seeing what my H and my GD have always said, she is a user and doesn’t mind upsetting people.
I really don’t need this, or her, in my life.
My GD knew I was upset and when I made my tea this morning there was a note under the tea pot thanking me for looking after her and a booking for afternoon tea in a couple of weeks.
I would be so lost without her.
What a heartwarming read annsixty you’re looking after your much loved granddaughter and she in turn cares for her much loved grandmother.
Sorry you are sad about ending a long friendship. It happens but time heals. (I know I had a similar situation).
?
Ann,what a beautiful relationship you and your granddaughter have. What a lovely thoughtful girl☺️
As Urmstongran says, the ending of a friendship is very sad but sadly it is inevitable.I too am thinking a long time friendship has run its course, sad as we have been through so much together but have finally realised what my family have been telling me for a while that she is very selfish and only really cares for herself.Sad but true.
A quiet weekend planned here as DH still recovering and I have had a flare up of a long standing health condition,am resisting a change of medication but think it’s inevitable?nothing in compared to what some of you are going through.
Sending love to all.x
Dearest panache I could not pass by without letting you know you (and Mr P) are in my thoughts. I am so sorry life's buggerations have increased once more.
Annesixty against all rational thinking, dry toast is excellent following tonsillectomy. It gets rid of any surface 'gunge' and speeds up healing.
I seem to have joined the ranks of Alzheimers folk with blank looks. I have noticed that I find the spoken word of others harder to process now, and my fallback reaction, is, alas, becoming a blank look while I try to process things. I noticed it when I was on a family video this week.
On the countdown now to my fully escorted (CH) and final visit to the antipodes to see close family and friends. I have some feelings of trepidation as the day approaches. I just hope I can cope with everything. Going into the big noisy world is going to be difficult at times. At least living with others means we dont have to worry about plants, heating and stuff.
kitty your resilience is amazing. Thank you for lovely comments from various posters. I cannot remember who you were, but the memory of supportive sentiments remains. And as ever soop magnificent art, and lovely photos from many others.
I have a hazy memory of a sort of embroidered ball by someone. I looked up the process and was amazed .
Hoping all manage a restful and recuperative weekend.
There are a number of heart warming messages in our kitchen. You lot are inspirational and I admire you greatly.
Ann You have a darling granddaughter. The friend that was - no longer is. You have made the right decision. Draw a line under the matter.
Izabella I am in awe of your resilience. You have shared very personal problems with us and, I feel that we are virtual companions during your journey with Alzheimers. I have never known anyone other than you who is prepared to share their experience with such honesty.
You will be in our thoughts during your visit to the Antipodes. You will, I'm sure, enjoy much of the experience.
Ann your granddaughter is lovely. I wish you a very enjoyable afternoon tea in a couple of weeks.
Izabella I love reading your posts. I echo all that soop has said.
