Sorry if I upset non sleepers but I went to bed last night, old time and surfaced at 9 am new time today, having read for over two hours last night. Tara would have liked me to crawl out of bed at 6amtoday but surprisingly aia did not want to.
She is safely indoors because bullyboy was meeting her as she went out of the catflap a little earlier. He still has not
mastered how to get in, but he is male so a tad slow!
We have sunshine here although it is rather cold. I will be staying indoors-I am waiting for a friend to look at my computer again so if I vanish for a few days, I am fine, blame Plusnet.

Soop's warm and welcoming kitchen...
(1000 Posts)Here we are again...
happy as can be...
All good pals and jolly good company.
WELCOME!
Kitty it could be sunny and dry for a couple of days st least, according to my Met Office app. Let’s hope so. Off for some aquatic fun, with flumes etc, with the three grandchildren (cousins). Enjoy your Sunday everyone.
I dare not step on the grass for want of a better word or I will be slithering on to my rear end. I have stayed cosy indoors listening to the rain battering against the windows.
Ann I do hope a day in bed, a good rest and being looked after by your GD will put a sparkle into you tomorrow. I have words for your daughter but I doubt if she would like to hear them!
The bombs have started here- I wish the heavens would open!
soop la-la land is the very last place we have been in the 7-8 years I have been with GN. I think sometimes that jealousy creeps in.
Please all look after yourselves and TOYA.
Up in your "neck of the woods " annsixty and annodomini and as my train chuffed (late) through the paddy fields of Staffordshire and Cheshire I realised just how much rain you have had!
I am here in Manchester for 4 days to look after Flynn while DD puts the finishing touches to her play st the Royal Exchange
(He has not been a happy bunny with Mummy away for the last fortnight so this way he can stay with her)
Hope it stops raining though - all the trains from.MK to Euston were cancelled due to.the flooding!
Thank you for all the lovely messages concerning my husbands surgery.soop, you took the words out of my mouth,as I was reading the latest posts I was thinking how much we learn from each other and how much support there is for each and everyone of us.
I have learnt so much from other kitcheners with husbands who are unwell and recovering from surgery.Ladies, you are an inspiration. The support in the kitchen is amazing.
Ann,I hope that your day in bed has helped and if you need another rest day tomorrow then take it.Your granddaughter is truly a blessing.
Grannygravy, glad your procedure is over and done with and that you are home recovering?
Panache,Soop,Izabella I wish I had your way with words?
TOYA
I am on the sofa, about to watch strictly.
They offered me sedation which I gratefully excepted, it didn't sedate, not an experience I would repeat in a hurry. Speaking to the very kind nurse in recovery she said it would have helped to relax me, I did however have a two hour sleep when I arrived home.
annsixty rest and let your GD look after you.
dragonfly take care
kittylester I could send you a canoe, I mr kittylester is better soon.
greyduster stay safe, would you like a canoe?
Nannytopsy good luck with your building work it will be worth it.
TOYA
Ann sorry you are so down. I know what you mean about old friends. All my friends have been amazing recently but one of my oldest who I have known for 55 years has let me down big time. It makes me very sad.
Could you have a marquee erected over your house kitty to facilitate repairs? Maybe contact the circus.
Hope all went well GG. At least England won the rugby!
Us lot learn from the experiences of each other. I believe that we are as far removed from la la land as we can get. Some of you may remember that, in the very early days of the kitchen, it was described as such.
We've come a very long way together. I am thankful that many of us feel less alone, and that support, albeit virtual, helps to keep us going strong.
TOYA. Back with you tomorrow.

We are at the stage of hysterical laughter now!
We were about to redecorate the hall and replace the carpet anyway but I'm now frustrated that we cant do the good stuff like choosing paint colours and curtains!
Dh says is part of the price we pay for living in a house we love!
Kitty that must be a nightmare for you. Let’s hope for a run of dry weather soon.
I think mrgd wins gd. Do look after him but look after you too. The Forest match was called off too - a blessing as dh is far to ill to go.
Hope all went well for gg13.
Enjoy your drinks with a light heart panache
Good luck with your builder topsy. It always seems like a good idea at the time and worth it in the end - it's the bit between that's not so much fun!
To add to dh being extremely poorly and needing constant attention, I am washing and drying towels like there is no tomorrow as the roof is pouring. We think we have found the problem but need a run of dry weather to get it fixed - a sort of chicken and egg situation.
The builder arrives on Monday, although he won’t have planning permission for the bulk of the work for several weeks. Our hall is full of boxes, going upstairs to be stashed out of the way until we have a dining room. My get up and go has got up and gone today - I should be decorating, not on GN. Perhaps watch a bit more rugby this afternoon?
Hoping for good news from GG. Another one here thinking of Galen and always of Morethan.
overnight guests have gone and will be back on Thursday, I'm again unreasonably excited and will treat them to a lunch out - at least that way we keep some food in the fridge
Off out soon for a swim in search of a new hot water bottle, mine was trying to make me as wet indoors as out.
ann please rest and just be as you are. I suspect a reaction to all that has gone before. Your granddaughter is worth her weight in gold and I know is much appreciated by you and if I may say so also by 'us lot' as we know she cares for you.
Life shouldn't be that hard synonymous and anneliese our friend is having different but similar issues across in Norfolk, it seems its country wide. Why don't professionals simply listen? I get oh so frustrated when I can't do anything practical to help and so want to go back but for once am being sensible.
Germs are not good greyd, Mr Greyd does sound proper poorly, hope you both can rest a bit and recover. Enjoy your afternoon.
Good to hear you sound so much lighter panache, how lovely that a good social life has come alongside your new home.
Who have I missed? Many people I fear. Hope those who need rest are being sensible, poorly people are edging towards health and as ever TOYA.
Having thoroughly enjoyed reading all the posts, catching up as always such a pleasure.
Pleased especially that this brace seems to be an improvement Lins1066 and hopefully, although the Dexta wait maybe long, may you continue to feel more comfortable as you wait.
It is the time of year when hunkering down indoors is quite a pleasure.
With a great sigh of relief having that heavy burden of our long drawn out house sale lifted,I can visibly see a difference and a real lightness of spirit in my dear one.Further more he is now beginning to make plans for the springtime, thinking of renovating some south facing troughs in this establishment so that he can grow sweet peas to delight every one.Of course it is only a thought and relatively simple but just seeing his amazing spirit and determination is such a joy and uplift.
How I hope with all my heart he gets the time and strength to do this little task.
We have also been invited for pre dinner drinks by one delightful resident tomorrow, she may have celebrated her 90th birthday in june this year, but she is tall and very upright of stance whilst beautifully dressed.Hopefully the start of a beautiful friendship forming.Only yesterday I learned that sadly, her husband passed away with almost an identical prognosis as my beloved......a strange co-incidence but certainly one that I may well learn from.
Life is so full of surprises.
May I wish GG13 and your husband Susan all the very best for your procedures.
Whilst lovely hearing from you yet again Annaliese.I cannot offer straight forward help although I will reiterate that getting help these days...........in any remotely medical way............is truly like getting blood from a stone. It truly is a minefield. One simply has to learn to be abrasive and shout,shout,shout........the one thing most of us simply have never done.Yet nowadays, you need to when desperate situations occur.
My thoughts wing their way to you both.
Our Soop kindness and caring ooozes out of every orifice, however for both your sakes dear lady please take some much needed me time and plenty of rest.We need you feeling well and fully rested you know!!!
Love and blessings to you allXX
Hello the kitchen. I just swam in to see if anyone has webbed feet yet? It looks like our junior match is called off. This was on the club website this morning and it will not be far from the truth, I fancy! It is very quiet at Chez Duster. DH has joined Mr Kittylester in vying for the holder of the Worst Cold Ever title (I am in the running for second place!), but in truth, the doctor is concerned about his blood oxygen levels at the moment and has put him on ABs. Just in time for half term next week☹️, but I have sundry things lined up for GS go do, so I’m sure he won’t be too bored. We managed to get out for a walk on Wednesday and the sun shone - for about ten minutes before we were enveloped in thick mist again, but I did manage to take one photo. Pity it wasn’t clear enough to see over whole valley, which is usually jaw dropping, but this will have to do!
Soop I am taking up my pencil again this afternoon, at long last. Hope to have something worth putting in front of you eventually!
Izabella that made me chuckle. It reminded me of the time I complained that DH never noticed me, so he shaved off half his moustache (he was intending to shave it off anyway) and walked around the house for a whole morning before I actually noticed! The biter bit, as they say!?
Ann I hope you feel better soon and that life is kinder to you going forward. We should be able to rely on our family and friends ?.
To all who are struggling with life at the moment, TOYA. I will keep looking in.
ann, take it easy and be looked after. Your gd is indeed a God send. I wonder if a visit to/from the gp might be a good idea.
Thankyou all for your kindness.
I am so unwell today I have stayed in bed and unknown ever before I have put off my D and GD's visit.
I just could not cope with them coming.
My other GD is looking after me, I say thankyou for her everyday.
I seem to have reached rockbottom, I have not slept properly, apart from vivid dreams, for days, and I feel so stressed with every little thing.
I must, in an unusual confidence, admit that it would have been nice if my D had said " oh I will still come and help you get the house straight, cook you some meals etc" but sadly ,while we all love each ofher, we don't and never have had that sort of closeness.
I didn't have it with my own mother.
Human beings are a strange species.
I am TOYA, we all have our problems and needs.
Thank you soop I just love flowers!
Izabella Thanks to you, I am wearing a huge
Ann Life is made up of highs and lows. That's why we have our kitchen to retreat to. Time to vent and a time to recover. All part of our master plan. Sharing together with kindness counts.
Anneliese MacSporran was pleased to hear that you are feeling more confident. He says that he's here for you. By the way, he wouldn't want me to brag... BUT...he did win awards for his architectural undertakings when he lived in Cornwall.
Excellent post, Synonymous.
in abundance.
soop it is also good to look after yourself and not do too much! And the rest of you too - you know who you are!! xx
TOYA indeed!
Himself did very well on his driving lesson and is having another this coming Tuesday. It is such a trek to get to this specialist instructor so it has taken me a few days recovery time - ready for the next one!
I am hoping that he will not want to drive much if at all but if he has his driving license he will feel much more 'normal' which is very important.
We so enjoyed DD's visit but all good things must come to an end and she has now returned home to get ready for next term - but leaving much baking stashed in the freezers. My lovely help has done all my ironing and various other jobs and my super cleaning lady has thoroughly mucked us out! We are intending to continue with the whittling down of 'stuff' which we clearly don't need so that is our priority for the run up to the next family gathering; it is good to keep busy and have a goal of some sort in mind!
Anneliese we had such a struggle getting agreement for a wet room for Himself. The OT, who we had come across in one of her previous jobs, seemed to think it her life mission to make sure that her budget remains no matter what needs presented. In her refusal letter she said that she had witnessed all kinds of things which were quite untrue since the doorway is narrower than the wheelchair and there is insufficient space to get past the washbasin even if you managed to fold the wheelchair and place it where you could then unfold it. Himself wrote a thundering letter as he was so angry about the barefaced lies and said he would hold her personally responsible for his injuries should he fall. He also said that he never wanted to see her again and since she was unwelcome in our home it would be necessary to send someone with more qualifications and experience of amputees to come and carry out a proper inspection. A second visit has not happened since Himself sent all the measurements asking how she even thought it possible to see all the things happening which never even occurred and her boss rang to agree everything. Unfortunately one has to fight for everything nowadays as sense has gone out of the window. How she ever thought a one legged man would be able to do all that an able-bodied one could do beggars belief. Fight! Fight! Fight!
We are currently awaiting builders to quote and anticipate it being done quite soon - which will be quite a relief!
As for getting Himself in or out of any of our external doors that is quite another matter! One battle at a time is all I can do at present!
Dear Ann I am not surprised you found it upsetting as your own battles for your DH are clearly still raw. Having to fight under such circumstances is so hard. I hope you enjoy your carpet and everything that you are doing as you move onward in your new life. Big (((hugs)) and
Izabella like so many others I just love your posts and your lovely way with words. Just keep on keeping on please!
? I liked that Izabella
ann feel free to vent. It is a free facility provided in the kitchen, to be accessed on an unlimited basis . I was saddened to realise your carpet was not of the magic variety. but no matter we are all here to 'listen' and sympathise. I hope you manage to sleep a little better tonight. Fairydust sent for your eyelids and calming thoughts for deep sleep enclosed with this missive.
My lovely barmy CH has just hurtled into the room asking 'well what do you think?' I checked attire, hair (well that bit didn't take long) shoes, teeth etc several times but gave in. Nothing seemed different to me. On asking what I was missing he informed me he had his new contact lens in ?. Apparently all looks much improved to him.
ann you can always vent in the kitchen you know that. I am not surprised you’re upset. We all feel things deeply when we are let down by those we think are our friends. Hope you can put it out of your mind tonight and sleep. Glad your carpet looks nice. Hope you feel better in the morning.
