Just back from spending hours trekking round Lakeside with GC, we seemed to spend a disproportionate time in Hamleys Toy Shop and The Disney Store "getting ideas for Santa".

We had a fair few fireworks here at the weekend as expected as it was the beginning of Divali (Hindu festival of light).

The horses are left out in the fields whatever the weather this time of year as it is safer than the prospect of a firework landing in the stable block/hay barn and causing a fire. They tend to huddle together under one of the big tees.

Galen condolences on the loss of your friend.

Lins glad to hear you are getting some relief from the backbrace.

dragonfly I hope you are feeling ok.

Beautiful photos everyone.

soop take care of yourself.

As the GC woke up at 2.30am (ish) this morning we are now reclining on the sofas in front of CBEEBIES and I can see his eyes drooping, I can feel a dozy few minutes coming on.

Today's photo of the gull and cormorants discussing Brexit. The seed heads of the mighty gunerra. Last night's sky.

Oh say no more maw. I hate loud music too. Especially that with a thump thump thump beat. Drives me mad.

soop Tue 29-Oct-19 14:01:32

A sunny good Tuesday afternoon greeting to all dear Kitcheners.

Lins You made me chuckle. Your pale blue sheets and mattress cover may well end up in Kintyre. If so, I shall tell you. wink

I totally agree with all those of you lot who dislike loud music. I do not like it played in restaurants or shops or wherever. I appreciate the sound of silence...or birdsong. So, yes, I'm guessing that I'm also a grumpy old so-and-so.
There was a time...in my teens...when I would head for the noisiest dive spot in town. That's when I was nimble and could rock 'n' roll until my father appeared at the edge of the dance floor and told me it was time to leave hmm

Maw Another gold star for good grannie guidance.

Synonymous The healing is surely the most important part of your dear husband's continued recovery. He is doing remarkably well. As are you.

corner The delicious colour of the foliage is awesome. Beautiful photographs.

Marydoll and dragonfly Thank you for your kind words. Just a wee blip/panic on my part. Feeling heaps better today.

Charleyg It wouldn't be so distressing for animals if the fireworks were confined to a specified location for one night - the 5th of November. It's like most things "these days", any celebration is strung out over several weeks. Humbug! I had better go do some ironing. grin

Lins1066 Tue 29-Oct-19 11:31:06

Hope your meeting is more positive than you think cornergran. The main noise with us this morning is the wind, it very strong. DH has put sheets on the line bless him, if any GNetter in north Devon finds any pale blue sheets and a white mattress cover, you'll know who they belong to ?
Panache good to hear that you have some good friends in your no so new abode now.

I haven't posted for a few days as there hasn't really been any change, I am wearing the back brace around the house. I am sleeping more though which is wonderful and long may that continue. I am reading all your posts avidly and so am keeping up to date.
Izabella your posts have brightened my days, I would love to hear you play.
Synonymous good to hear that your DH's leg is healing and that you enjoyed your trip to the sea.
Lovely pictures of trees and plants.
We have Wilma here today, she has conjunctivitis poor thing and we have to administer drops. When she was younger she didn't mind fireworks but now she hates them (she is five and a half), though there are usually more on New Year's Eve than Bonfire Night here.
As a child I loved collecting branches and leaves for the bonfire with the other children in our hamlet. We would pool our fireworks on the night and the Dads would be in charge of setting them off. I would choose my box of fireworks in Woolworths, but my favourite were the sparklers. Catherine Wheels were good but always seemed to spin off the post. Enough reminiscing, have a good afternoon everyone.
Best wishes to all those feeling anxious or unwell.
Thinking of the gillybobs.

galen I just want to say I am sad to hear your dear friend of so many many years has died. I hope, amidst your grief, you are able to retrieve positive memories.

Totally understand the noise thing. We’re currently sitting in blessed peace, Mr C is reading I’m chatting here while recovering from the music I endured while having my hair cut. Off out to a meeting now to hear proposals from the organisation just contracted to provide social care for this and a huge surrounding area. I’m truly not hopeful of positive change but would be delighted to be proven wrong.

Another evening of bombs exploding- I was obviously interested in animals and small babies but I totally forgot about young children who needed a night's sleep before school the next day.

I have signed a petition to have private gatherings banned and fireworks banned from sale but I do not know how local it is because the aim is 500.000. and it is over 450,000 so I think it will meet its target.

I am so lucky Tara does not bother too much but she does find it difficult coming home when it is so noisy so close to the house.

Can nobody work anywhere without music blaring out? A lot of these young people will be deaf in later years. I also am a misery guts but with hearing intact.

Feelingmyage55 Mon 28-Oct-19 23:20:08

Hello Kitcheners. I am with MawB everywhere seems so noisy for half term. Is it actually or am I turning into a grumpy old lady. I don’t enjoy feeling the bass beat of the music vibrating through my feet yet I did love a noisy disco decades ago. I came into the kitchen looking for cake and there is none. I will make something tomorrow. Off to look at the recipe books. Have been out today taking photos. Just been to another funeral - sigh - too sad.
Best wishes to all with maladies, appointments with vampires and receiving treatment. I shall take my tablets - a little worried about supplies but heyho no need to meet trouble halfway. Since there is no cake I will also have a hot chocolate and visit tomorrow with high calorie, sugary supplies. Sleep tight everyone.

MawB Mon 28-Oct-19 21:35:45

Doodle it was not just playing with Lego - it was loud pumping music, a Halloween theme throughout, screaming and shouting kids and - well- the Trafford Centre. It is HUGE and you practically need your bus pass to get from one part to t’other. Factor in overpriced junk food in LEGO themed boxes and jolly friendly attendants who must be certifiable to work there...
The film was quite fun but deafeningly LOUD!

Charleygirl5 Mon 28-Oct-19 21:19:28

corner I do hope you knew the answers to the endless questions!

Maw I think better you than me but as you said, Flynn was happy and that was the object of the exercise. He is growing so quickly he will be enrolled at school shortly.

Thank you for that kind comment about the welcome- I also did not think it necessary but she will find a few like-minded friends if that is how she intends to continue.

No TV for me tonight so Tara and I will have one of our many early nights- the bombs are still going off here but not to the same intensity as last night. She is resting her eyes on my bed.

I am coming back as a cat and I can choose my abode- a dog is not so lucky but Hattie fell on all 4 paws.

Syn please be careful that Mr. Syn does not end up with painful hands which are taking the extra weight at present.

charleygirl you are always most welcoming even if that is not appreciated by some other folk. ?

Doodle Mon 28-Oct-19 21:02:49

maw will you take me with you next time you go please. I love playing with Lego ?

Doodle Mon 28-Oct-19 21:01:33

izabella if the Kitcheners think you are inspirational then you are....so there ?
galen so lovely to have you back in the kitchen but sorry to hear you sad news of your neighbour.

MawB Mon 28-Oct-19 19:44:46

Recovering fro m the Seventh Circle of Hell aka Legoland at the Trafford Centre!
Little Flynn had a wonderful time though - but OMG it took real parental and grand parental devotion to survive that!
DD has gone out to the theatre for the last night of previews for her play (Light Falls if anybody in the area is interested), then it is press night tomorrow and then she can go home and Flynn will have his mummy around for a few more weeks, at least working from her studio n the garden.

Synonymous Mon 28-Oct-19 19:28:20

What a beautiful sunny day we have had today! We both decided we should go out for an early lunch and a walk by the sea in order to enjoy it to the full but, although nothing went to plan, we had an enjoyable lunch and a lovely drive anyway. Himself is still not wearing his leg so life is interesting and pretty hard work but the healing continues which is the most important thing. Second driving lesson tomorrow so another long trek and long day so we will have dinner on the way home. At least that way there is no washing up! grin

Galen so sorry about the loss of your friend, when you share memories over so many years it makes such a big hole in your life when you can no longer reminisce together. Sending you big (((hugs))) and flowers

Izabella you have my greatest respect for keeping us all informed about how things are with you. Your descriptions of even the mundane things of life help us all to look at everything differently and more thoughtfully. You are so often in my thoughts and prayers my dear VR friend! smile

Lovely photos corner and your description of being 'minded' by your 'littlest' made me chuckle. The colours of autumn have been truly wonderful this year and at least the winds have not been so strong that the leaves have been blown away as quickly as they were last year.

Panache it sounds like your new home is proving to be a real blessing to you both in every way. So good to hear that you are finding new like-minded friends.

Blessings to so many of you facing such challenges healthwise and in other things too. TOYA flowers

cornergran Mon 28-Oct-19 18:25:01

I’m so sorry Galen, you’ll miss her.

Go carefully soop, is it time to slow down a bit?

We’ve been minded by Littlest today. Happy exhaustion here. Constant physical activity combined with non stop questions. I feel an early night coming on smile. Images from today’s walk

TOYA, look after yourselves.

MawB Mon 28-Oct-19 18:16:09

Sad news Galen - so sorry flowers

Charleygirl5 Mon 28-Oct-19 18:09:53

I have decided I should stay here- apparently my welcoming post was less than welcome.

Galen so sorry.

soop are you resting/ I think not!

I hope that the man flu is abating- we cannot have it spreading so early in winter.

Galen I am so sorry to hear about your friend. That is a great loss.

dragonfly46 Mon 28-Oct-19 17:24:28

Izabella your posts are wonderful - so atmospheric.

Soop if it isn't one thing it is another. I actually knew about the jaw problems with Zolendronic acid because I belong to lots of breast cancer forums. I have learned so much from every one on there, maybe that is why I am so upbeat and feeling so well. With their help I know how to cope. By the way Stella MacCartney sent me a free bra today. It is very comfortable and pretty.

Marydoll Mon 28-Oct-19 17:23:53

Don't worry Soop, it's very rare and my dentist said it usually only happens after an extraction. However, you do need regular dental checks when you are on Alendronic Acid.
I'm having second infusion on Wednesday in Glasgow, part of a three year plan. You will be fine!

I had a similar scare a few weeks ago and was sent immediately to the dentist by my GP. It turned out the problem was caused by another drug. Thank goodness for the NHS.

soop Mon 28-Oct-19 16:51:01

I love it, Galen

Did a silly thing. GP asked me when my next dental appointment is . He mentioned that the Zoledronic Acid may cause serious jawbone problems after extractions. The medical term is Osteonecrosis. I googled it. Frightened the living daylights out of me. As I said...a silly thing to do. hmm

It's a beautiful end of day. Gorgeous sunset. I shall photograph it to share tomorrow.

Care home visit in the morning. Back with you lovely lot early afternoon.

TOYA smile moon

Here’s one of lichen round Queen’s View I took a few years ago

soop Mon 28-Oct-19 15:15:43

Izabella I am one of the few who would need to be comatose if made to watch Strictly.

GrannyG hmm I hardly ever succomb to mischief. wink. Unlike some of us lot.

Greyduster Nuts have a beauty that deserve to be drawn and painted. Any particular type? Or did you have a wee selection to work from?

Panache I like the sound of your newfound gang of friends. It's good to hear you sounding more upbeat and confident. sunshine

GP had great difficulty extracting blood. the veins are tiny and well hidden. Anyway, he managed to get the necessary sample and I'm covered in plasters. grin
He's also putting my name forward for the prolapse procedure that was put on hold when the breast cancer surgery needed to take priority.
It's also possible that I have a Baker's cyst. Scan will verify in due course.
Hey ho! I am truly grateful to our NHS. Thanks to it, we continue to bumble along and enjoy the many joys of life.

Photo of lichen taken earlier today.
