Soop's warm and welcoming kitchen...
(1000 Posts)Here we are again...
happy as can be...
All good pals and jolly good company.
WELCOME!
annesixty I don’t come on here as often as I’d like but often just have a peep to see how everyone is.
You’ve had a generational upheaval in your life, with your effervescent granddaughter now living with you. It’s a big change to your ice and routine so it’s understandable you feel more tired and reflective than usual.
Your granddaughter is blessed to have you (as are you her). Your emotions are yours to own and are perfectly valid.
Be aware of your own needs too. I hope you do go out to dinner tonight with your neighbour and can relax into her company.
x
Good morning all.
Thank you for your concern, I took to my bed again yesterday, I just don't feel right but nothing specific, I am feeling my age and my mortality is rearing it's ugly head.
So silly I know, I feel foolish.
So many of you have real and definite illnesses and so much to deal with.
I had to cancel a trip out with my neighbour yesterday but we have arranged to go out for a meal tonight, I am determined to make it.
Dull day here but not cold.
TOYA
Good morning from a dull, foggy and drippy shire. Lights are on and even the heating has been turned on. ? I capitulated on the sock front last week so winter must be here.
I have obviously missed something in my equally foggy brain as I notice gg 54 has galloped off into the ether. No matter, I am sure someone will enlighten me.
In charge of all the dogs today. Looking outside I don't think long walks will be the order of the day but I will do my best by them. There is plenty of space for 'fetch' and they seem to enjoy the novelty of a deputy mum.
anno I had to smile about the apparent age of your new rheumatologist (hope all goes well with that) as I have noticed how 10 year olds also seem to be driving huge tractors and trailers around the shire at the moment. I know I drove one at the same age but that was only ever on the land and the trusty old Ford was a tad smaller to say the least (awful hard knobbly seat I seem to recall)
Well I am being supervised in the kitchen again later, hoping to produce passable pastry. Ingredient amounts that I once knew by heart now need both recipe and carer. Such is life!
Hoping all maladies, are short lived, joints (the creaking variety ) journeys, appointments etc., are not too insufferable and sad situations gain the strength that the safety of the kitchen collectively holds.
annsixty are you ok?
Evening all,
Sorry to hear about the weather corner, fingers crossed for some sunshine too.
I was surprised to see GG here too.... I believe they would call that a “flounce” ?
Love that picture GrannyQ , I could sit on that bench! Beautiful !
Back tomorrow x
ann, you are ominously quiet at the moment. I can't be the only one wondering how you are feeling now and hoping you have been getting TLC and are able to be up and about. xx
Lovely new rheumatologist today - looks about ten! However, wonderfully competent and satisfied with my current progress - or stasis! Wants me to have a dexa scan as this seems to have been forgotten in the too-frequent changes in consultants. Cheshire East seems to be so short of rheumatologists that they have to borrow one from Trafford!
Corner, may the sun shine on you soon!
grannyqueenie thank you for the solidarity on the other thread and those photos are beautiful.
Yes, I think the weather is going downhill over the weekend.
Thank goodness I have a video entry system and could see three unknown adults ringing my doorbell x2. I doubt if many will open their doors this evening.
I think your neck of the woods has had enough rain to last a while corner I do hope you see blue skies soon, I can quite understand how fed up you are with paddling around in unremitting rain.
We’ve been fortunate enough to have had some sunshine these past few days but I think it maybe all downhill after tomorrow. I’ll leave some photos to cheer you up xx
ps charley you’re a wise woman!!
Please don’t mention a sunny day charley, it’s been raining all day here, totally and utterly tired of it now.
I was idly wondering why GG bothered to inform us of her permanent departure, I did not think she was aware of our existence. I am saying nowt else.
A chilly day here today, the washing was out but did not dry in the sunshine.
Tara has come home and vanished upstairs to rest. She and I will have our usual early night I think because I want to finish my book.
Pleased to hear you are home safe and sound soop.
TOYA
Totally agree. A few years ago some children (we assume) enjoyed throwing eggs at our conservatory over a 6’ fence. One came close to hitting me as I walked across the garden which in fairness the throwers could not have known as they couldn’t see me. It stopped after a couple of weeks, no idea why it began. Egg yolk baked on by the sun is a serious pain to clean off, smelly too.
aggie These were those clear plastic boxes of 12 eggs that supermarkets sell. Not nice.
It is so mean throwing eggs ! Our wee local farm shop won’t sell eggs to children at this time of year xxx
GabriellaG54 I am sorry that you feel you need to leave GN. I am one of those with mega problems with a poorly husband, but I love to read the lighthearted posts. It helps me to hear about everyday and fun things. And here in the kitchen, we don’t think people are smug or showing off. And although I don’t post often, it helps me, and others, to have somewhere we can offload.
But now I am going to have a moan. About an hour ago I was driving home and saw a group of boys who I guess were about 10. Obviously tricking (I’m leaving out the word treating!). Not in any way dressed up for Halloween, but carrying boxes of eggs... I don’t mind littlies dressing up and always have a few treats for our neighbours’ children, but I’ve never known children in this area to be so nasty.
Just a note to say that I'm off here. No more posts from me.
No, I haven't been suspended or banned, I'm just sick if snowflakes and injured parties.
You can't say anything without someone getting in a snit and assuming you meant what they want to think you mean. They like to cause trouble and I'm not into at those games.
Too much of , 'you can't say that', cliques...blah blah...like a schoolyard.
If you have no problems, health, financial, familial or relationships and want to share ordinary everyday stuff, GN isn't for those people as you get told you're smug or showing off but if you have problems...come in.
Best wishes to Gillybob, Marydoll, dragonfly46, Urmstongran
I'm out for good. Phew!!
Pleased you’re home safely soop.
I’m sure Mr C will survive, n&g, I’m less sure about me
. Lovely image, sadly missing from this area where we have constant grey skies and dripping leaves, I’m beginning to take the rain personally.
Had two of ours here today, they were very relaxed and we had a gentle, happy day doing not very much. Mr C joined us for lunch, man flu doesn’t seem to impact his appetite, then retired again.
Oh morethan, how difficult for you and for everyone. Please find some time for yourself, it’s huge strain. Sending love to you all.
Best be off, the patient is hungry, again, hopefully a good sign
TOYA and take care everyone.
Just a brief visit to say hello. That is until tomorrow (after care home visit) when I shall be less pooped.
morethan I wish with all my heart that I could find the words to convey my feelings for all your family at this distressful time. If only there could be some positive respite. You all need a huge amount of tender loving care.
N&G Wow! What a wonderful photograph. It's fabulous. I may attempt to paint that scene sometime.
230 miles of travel. Stay overnight in the Premier Inn in Dumbarton. Saw the Consultant (a beautiful lady) who took time to talk some problems through with me. I can call her at any time if I need to. Met with Nancy - a lady who went through the same early cancer tests way back in February. We enjoyed a blether over tea and choc biscuits. Then I had the infusion and yet more bloods taken. Such kind and considerate staff. En route home, called in at the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar. A treat at any time of the year.
The colours of the mountains in low autumn sunlight are magical. Sadly, I couldn't hold the camera still enough to take photos in the moving car. I did manage one. It shows the peak of a mountain tinged with late afternoon sunlight.
I must away for today. I shall do my best to return tomorrow. There is much catching up to do.
morethan virtual hugs and prayers for you and your family.
[morethan] Thoughts prayers and
And to all of you suffering in body or spirit. Coffee and walnut loaf cake on the side
soop, I hope you reached Glasgow safely and that all goes well today.
Izabella, you described the stair carpet in the house I grew up in, that is, after we had the loft conversion when I was 7. I knew every leaf on that carpet. In the five days I was away over the weekend, the beautiful scarlet leaves on my red maple have been almost stripped - it looks sad now it's nearly bare.
A beautiful morning so far. I don't feel very motivated to go and plant my bulbs though I know it must be done. This afternoon I have to go and see a new rheumatologist. My knees are, mysteriously, better than they were two years ago. The physio reckons that I'd been having a flare at the time. Now I have tingling in my right hand which the GP says is caused by vertebrae doing something in my neck so I had an x-ray last week and goodness knows what they can do about it.
Don't think I want to know!
Meanwhile, TOYA. Have a good day, even though it's Halloween.
Morethan, stay strong ?
Izabella, that’s impressively spooky! I’m guessing you made it yourself?
N&G , woodland walks in the autumn are just wonderful as proved by your photo. Lovely contrasts.
Morning all!
So sorry to hear of your continuing sadness Morethan , I hope your recharge sets you up to carry on being such a rock for your family x
Lovely idea Doodle , I love a good party !
Hope MrC survives his man flu Corner ! ?
Tanith hope you see some improvement in your hand soon !
Enjoy those new pearls Galen ! Well deserved.
I am just getting ready for the second Knit and Natter group. This is the one I will go to normally , the Tuesday evening one was just to see it started. So I shall catch up with you all later!
Leaving you with a picture from yesterday’s walk .
