Soop's warm and welcoming kitchen...

Afternoon all. Where's the day gone? Other than venturing out in horribly strong winds for a food top up I've done not a lot really and should be on admin detail now. Oh well, I will in a minute. Neither of us are too interested in food today so it will be soup mark II later.

That's good news susan, delighted for you both. I wish Mr C was wallowing panache, he's proper poorly as our lot say. Silly man insisted on coming with me yesterday and then helping our eldest with some DiY, its done him no good at all so back to sleeping between coughing. Oh well, it will pass, all things do. Hope you've been able to rest and regaining some strength in your snug apartment.

Moving out didn't do it this time dragonfly, I'll be going the full on mask and gown route next time . It wasn't the best day for a trip out, hope you managed to relax a bit at home and Mr D wasn't too disappointed at the rugby outcome.

I'll hope for rain for you tomorrow greyd, in fact I'll send you some of the horizontal stuff we've had here for most of the day, that will do it. The quiche does look tempting but I expect its all disappeared by now.

I really must do the admin or it will be intruding on Strictly time. TOYA and take care everyone.

Panache I know that Mr. Corner has been quite unwell and has not been wallowing in anything. He has managed to pass his bugs on to corner and their adult children live a distance away so cannot be of much help.

Susan so pleased to hear it is all over and he is recovering- time will be the healer.

Dragonfly please look after yourself and rest. I know the weather is less than helpful but enjoy the TV or reading, whatever relaxes you.

Hello the kitchen! It is very quiet at Chez Duster this p.m, as after the disappointment that was England rugby, my chaps have gone off to watch their football team. I do hope that is a bit more rewarding. I have spent a nice couple of hours tinkering with my painting and it is “coming on”, but you I am resisting the urge to make it “come on” a bit faster. The hardest thing to do with a fledgling watercolour is walk away from it! We have had buckets of rain but now it is clearing. I made a quiche for lunch and there is a fair bit left so before my son comes back and asks if he can take it home (and how could I refuse him?), feel free to sample it!

Susan I’m very glad your DH’s surgery went well. I wish him a speedy recovery.?

Dragonfly well done for getting out even though the weather was inclement. Nothing worse than cabin fever! After the debacle that was the rugby, I bet your DH wishes he’d gone with you!

N&G I hope you caught up with your crafting - with ?approaching I should think you are up to your eyes in projects!

A very wet,grey and miserable day here in our corner of Wales,but it is certainly all nice and cosy tucked up in our Apartment!!

Nannytopsy, if your DH was well enough to watch the rugby, I can only sympathise if he is suffering a relapse. And Dragonfly, your DH probably wishes he had gone out with you after all. What a disappointment the match was. As a Scot, I should be neutral, but my 25% English blood was hopeful.
What started as a pleasant autumnal morning is now typically November-ish. I was going to quote Thomas Hood's poem, 'November', but it's just too depressing. I hear that in the south it's windy as well as wet.
Panache, I'm really sorry that your health has deteriorated so badly. It seems so unjust now that the trauma of house selling is behind you, giving you cause to celebrate.

Corner I feel your pain. My DH is a nightmare with colds but recently I have retired to another bedroom so he does not pass them on.

I am a little better today - I ventured out but the weather is foul and although my DH did want to come with me I persuaded him to stay and watch the rugby. I believe days 6 to 10 are the worst after chemo then I will have a couple of good weeks before the next onslaught.

I know just what you mean ladies about young doctors. I recently agreed to discuss a health issue with a group of student doctors at my GPs practice. They were extremely ernest and I struggled on occasion to not ask them how old they were !! They meant well but it sounds like they were reciting from a text book so hopefully they will acquire a more human bedside manner :-)

Are you feeling brighter this morning Dragonfly . I always feel a spell outside in blowy weather really does blow away the cobwebs( and should always be rewarded with coffee and cake afterwards !!)

I am just popping in to thank you for all your good wishes.
My husband had his surgery yesterday and the surgeon was really pleased with how it went.It will be a couple of months before we know if it has been a success but any improvement will be good.I am so grateful for the surgeons skill and all the health professionals responsible for his care,we are truly blessed.I feel exhausted today,I think the build up has been so long and the relief it is all done has hit home.
Sending my love to anybody struggling with health and other worries.I will try and catch up with all the posts I have missed.

We’re a miserable pair here, Mr C is coughing for the world and has kindly shared his bugs with me. Good job I love him . Being sensible for once we’ve decided to postpone the friends due to stay next week, third time lucky maybe as they were poorly on our first attempt. We’ll get there.

I’m also quite cross as some kind (!) soul threw an egg at our conservatory from the footpath behind our back fence on Thursday night. Real pig to clean off but at least not baked by the sun. Waste of an egg in my view. .

How are you now ann? Yes, please do have a chat with your GP, a physical check can do no harm. Be kind to yourself.

Suspect firework displays due here tonight will be called off if the wind and rain continue. The huge trees over our fence next to the river are sounding like sails in a storm, wet leaves flying everywhere.

An easy day for us. Probably watch the rugby, some soup for lunch and a quick dash to the shop to top up supplies for tomorrow.

Just been out to watch a firework display. Very good but cold so now a little ripple to warm me up. Well that’s my excuse anyway ?. TOYA ?

soop, gabriellag as far as I can see had a spat with some people on the nose job thread and decided she had had enough and was going to leave. Some had said they had reported her posts as being in poor taste. Why GG decided to inform the kitchen of this I have no idea as I didn’t think she ever posted here although I could be wrong. However, it seems that she has now gone.?

GabriellaG also for some strange reason informed the nose job thread-again why? There was marginally more response there.

For lunch, I had a sandwich and a cup of coffee locally and immediately afterwards I was meeting a manager from the Macular Society, somebody from Age UK and a couple of others. The Macular Society was treating us, and we were in a shop called the Chocolate Shop so we indulged in ice cream with a fudge chocolate cake and coffee. I know you

will be amazed to hear I have no room for supper tonight.

soop at least the cats will be having extra food by killing the mice and rats on the farm. Hopefully they will be allowed to stay even if their abode changes.

Apologies again for being missing for a few days,my health issues are truly playing up and I feel as weak as the proverbial kitten.Even total resting has not been of much benefit.
Having lost a further 5 pounds in weight and now finding my hair so weak and straggly does little to uplift my morale either.

With several Medical appointments looming large I really have to "show willing" again.

Whilst I have no real time for events around Halloween our Chef here and those that serve our meals certainly went to town and presented very suitable outfits for the occasion........together with pumpkin soup!!!

Once again Morethan my heart goes out to you in this impossable situation you find yourself,with so little room to move in the way you deal with those caught up in hurt and fear.

You too Galen it is never pleasant losing a friend and long term neighbour, though you surely will have a host of lovely memories.

As for your postings Izabella they continue to inspire and uplift,whilst I think you will be doing a great favour for the so many suffering your illness..........a great learning curve for the families especially.

Pleased hearing the brace is offering some support Lins1066 and looking forward to the day you will truly feel very much better.

Charleyg Tara is a darling. She knows how to look after herself. The farm on which the feral feline family live (the ones we feed) has been sold. This may mean that the new owner, moving in after Christmas, may not welcome "trespassers". He may not welcome cats. Anyway, the small group of us who leave nourishment, have decided to talk matters through with the lady of the family. Until the property is occupied, we hope to be allowed to visit the derelict shed in which we leave food without causing offence.

Yet...he had the files under his arm, a knowing look on his face and a steady step as he went through the door labelled PRIVATE. [gulp]

Ann So many considerate responses to your latest post. I agree with anno. Your GP needs to know how you are feeling. There are times when every one of us lot have needed to talk matters through with someone who understands and may decide that you need extra help after what has been a hugely stressful time in your life.

for Ann & Dragonfly. DH is very under the weather - either a tummy bug or a side effect of metformin, which does him in occasionally. As a result I have sat and read my book quietly and provided drinks. He had better improve in time for the rugby tomorrow!
It has been a filthy wet day here today and dark too. There is mushroom and garlic soup on the side with homemade bread ( from the new bread maker).

Ann I think anno is right and maybe a trip to the GP is in order. You have been under tremendous strain and upheaval in the last year.

I too have spent a couple of days in my bed. Apparently this is normal for the type of chemo I have had. It would seem that 2 days out of three weeks are a lost cause. Fortunately I am feeling better today and will have to venture out tomorrow as I feel a little dark cloud settling.

morethan you have so much to cope with. You are obviously the rock in your family that everyone turns to. How ,you cope I don’t know but I hope your few days away will be of help. Thinking of you (hug)

You are not foolish, ann. If you don't feel right, then there is something wrong whether physical or otherwise. I don't know if you have a sympathetic GP who would give you the once-over and perhaps prescribe an anti-depressant. You do sound very depressed in the clinical sense. But what do I know? An evening out with your neighbour will be good if you feel up to it.

I have switched the heating on having had a shower and washed my hair. Alexa tells me it is not cold but it is wet, dull and miserable- I do not intend to be cold and I need my hair to dry because I am going out around 1pm.

ann I do hope you will feel well enough to go out this evening for a meal.
