Our GS is on his way home from hospital, it has been a worrying few days for us all.

Our D has got the keys to her new home, and is busy moving her "stuff"(and a smattering of ours!!), I now it's the right thing and her partner is lovely, they are both so excited and eagerly awaiting their new arrival.

I drove her and our GC here straight from the delivery suite (after she realised her partner of many years was a useless waste of space), and I shall miss them so very much.

Mr.Gravy and I will be rattling round this house on our own, so strange after all these years!!!

Happy birthday McSporran and Anno! DH on the mend and he says he knew South Africa would win, so not too disappointed. Hmmm ?.
Should be painting, not on GN but the impetus keeps fading! Get on with it! ( she says to herself!)

Charleygirl5 Sun 03-Nov-19 14:01:29

I was stupidly looking forward to sunshine today but the rain has fallen yet again.

One four-legged black and white animal will appear around 7 pm with not a damp hair on her body.

My main problem is deciding what to have for supper tonight.

I have a mobile podiatry appointment tomorrow so that will feel good afterwards.

I am trying unsuccessfully to stay away from crowded places so that I do not end up with a cough and cold. Unfortunately, I doubt if my local supermarket would empty the store to allow me to wander around at my leisure!

A famous person now dead used to shop in my local store and one day one of the managers found an umbrella and escorted the lady, in a wheelchair, and her son pushing it holding an umbrella over their heads. Me, who shops there more frequently, said a few words and then went to my car, soaking wet.

corner I do hope that you and Mr. C are feeling better. Please stay indoors

Anno happy birthday also.

Is your birthday in a couple of days Anno? I think I may have caused some confusion (easy!)

Greyduster Sun 03-Nov-19 09:03:13

Good morning kitcheners. Happy birthday, MacSporran?, and Anno too ?. Have a lovely day, both.

Panache Sun 03-Nov-19 00:03:16

Popping by to wish both MacS and Anno many Happy returns.Time flies for sure so do make those celebrations count!!!!

I think I owe you both Mr and Mrs Corner a big apology for mis reading how poorly he is, and it is certainly no joke at all if now you too feel unwell.I know how you race to your friends, always concerned for their welfare, and are one of the first to offer help, but now with your own family some way away from you it cannot be easy managing.
Sincerely hoping there will soon be a real improvement in both of you.
A plus having the dreaded noise of fireworks postponed although I suppose there will still be those bangs whenever the weather allows.

Past my bedtime so I shall wish you all a peaceful night.XX

Bellanonna Sat 02-Nov-19 22:37:28

Anno and McSporran happy birthdays to you both. I see we are all of an age and next year will be the Big One. I think, Anno, I share a September birthday with your grandson.
Corner, although the bangs have been postponed because of the weather, unfortunately if they’ve bought the things they will be letting them off at some point. My DH and I will be going to the cinema tomorrow night (a rare occurrence for him) just to get away from my neighbour’s fireworks. The explosions are horrible being so close to us.

Charleygirl5 Sat 02-Nov-19 22:31:21

Thankfully we had a lot of rain tonight so there were few fireworks but as somebody said, it is merely postponing the inevitable.

Happy birthday MacSporran I am a tad early but with my memory I would forget.

Hope all the pets remain calm tonight and the big bangs don’t disturb them. TOYA

susan glad husbands op went ok. Hopefully, the end result will be good.
soop I’m sure you must have got that wrong McSporran cannot be more than 50! Wishing him a very happy birthday ? tomorrow.

Urmstongran Sat 02-Nov-19 19:58:52

We used to have two cocker spaniels (sisters). They never used to even flinch at the sound of even loud fireworks. They would just lie on their sides, in front of the fire in our sitting room. I used to wonder if it was because they were ‘gundogs’ (soft mouths for retrieving birds) and it was in their DNA not to ‘jump’ at bangs? Who knows.

But for all with anxious dogs I recall my mum used to get a mild sedative for her little Westie who used to bark non stop in fright. Do vets still give out these?

cornergran Sat 02-Nov-19 19:33:40

Apparently firework displays have been cancelled here. I’m sorry for the disappointed children but delighted as it’s very quiet. There are advantages to living in a very wet wind tunnel grin.

MawB Sat 02-Nov-19 18:54:44

Ah, this is nice too!
I’ll leave it on and see what 7 pm brings.

Lins1066 Sat 02-Nov-19 18:51:45

It is from 7pm apparently.

MawB Sat 02-Nov-19 18:43:59

I’ve got it on but it’s not doing an awful lot - nice background music for me though!

Lins1066 Sat 02-Nov-19 18:43:01

It is correct, I've just put it on and heard the advert.

Lins1066 Sat 02-Nov-19 18:41:12

Just popping in to say that Classic FM are putting on some calming music with dog sounds in the background to help sooth stressed pets struggling with fireworks, from 7pm. Any one else aware of this? Only just been told or I would have posted sooner.

cornergran Sat 02-Nov-19 18:04:11

A very happy birthday to macSporran for tomorrow. The day sounds just right, enjoy it all both of you. That sunset was beautiful, don't think you'd like an image of the heavy sky and driving rain we've enjoyed all day. It does have one benefit as like mawb I'm not a lover of this time of year, far too much like a war zone, with luck the wind and rain will ensure a quiet evening

Admin done she says polishing her halo, take care everyone..

annodomini Sat 02-Nov-19 17:57:24

I'd forgotten - how could I? - that MacSporran is two days older than I am. Hope it's a lovely day for him tomorrow. Two separate friends are apparently taking me out for lunch. As they don't know each other, I'll have to try to unscramble that little dilemma. I'm also hoping to meet up with another friend for morning coffee - and cake. ?

MawB Sat 02-Nov-19 17:46:34

I have to admit to an entirely indulgent afternoon. Hattie curled up on the sofa with her head tucked into the small of my back, cup of coffee, a Danish pastry and the DVD of “Persuasion”.
What’s not to like?
She is now alas huddled on the half landing which she seems to see as her “safe place” when there are fireworks. So far there has only been one bang this evening, but it was enough to send her flying up the stairs.
I’ve got Classic FM on the kitchen radio as “white noise” and I am keeping everything crossed that things are better than last night when the poor dog was a panting hyperventilating wreck sad
I hate this time of year!

Greyduster Sat 02-Nov-19 17:46:12

There is a soupçon, Corner. I’ll save it for Mr C! That and a nice hot Bovril should help him along!

soop Sat 02-Nov-19 17:45:38

Susan Wishing your husband a good recovery. So pleased for you both that he has had his surgery.

Panache and all those feeling below par, you have my good wishes and several virtual (hugs)

dragonfly Well done, you. It certainly is a tricky time (to say the least) and making an effort is commendable. The Zoledronic Acid infusion has triggered aches and pains in my limbs. We did take our usual walk. I've also tried to chivvy myself into doing other stuff today. My thoughts are with you.

It's MacSporran's 79th birthday tomorrow. We're having lunch at our favourite local restaurant. After which...woop woop...he has agreed to go the the pictures. The first time in 31 years! (for him). The Campbeltown Picture House is a jewel in the town's crown. Art deco. Fully refurbished. Thanks to EU funding. Almost like viewing a film in one's own home with plush seats. A lovely cafe is annexed to it. We shall have coffee before attending - 'Farmagedon' - highly recommended by Mark Kermode the film critic. Don't laugh! We shall do that ourselves.

I am running late. Nothing new there. In the morning, I shall pop in to say hello to my favourite peoples.

Here is tonight's sunset. It was glorious.
