Welcome card for new Vietnamese neighbours?
Struggling with estrangement from 2 adult children and dont know where to go from here.
Here we are again...
happy as can be...
All good pals and jolly good company.
WELCOME!
Just passing through but I thought I would share a phot of the triumphant Grampy fresh from winning Mr Sleek 2019 !? ( Honestly worse name ever !) .
Very proud of his hard work losing 4 1/2 stone and 8 inches of his waist in 11 months.
We’re having cake to celebrate !!
I’ve added a picture of the tie he was awarded which I can assure you will NEVER see the light of day again lol
What a handsome picture of your MacS dear Soop and so pleased you enjoyed your day of celebrations, very well deserved may I add and may there be so very many more to follow.Every day gets even more precious at our age I am finding!!!
Pleased hearing those bugs are fast retreating Corner and hopefully you both will soon be feeling full of the joys! ...or at least very much better again.Always a big ask I know but we can but keep hoping!!!
The rains are bad enough and a bind to cope with but it must be a real headache and nightmare for you Lins1066 and Kitty....... with what seems to be rather a long drawn out roof problems........may there be some renewing in both cases, and very soon.
Good hearing yourr man remains in good form at the moment Carilion.....and yes a lovely picture to treasure. These Remembrance services can indeed induce those tears.
Whilst very grateful my dear man is having a fairly decent period I am still trailing miserably behind feeling like nothing on earth .....................but firmly telling myself to get going, whilst I am just not responding!
Getting ready to batten down for the bangs this night! Never a favourite of ours, and our hearts go out to the poor pets whom get so very upset.
Wishing you all every blessing this day.XX
Happy Birthday anno and Greyduster for yesterday.
I am very tardy getting into the kitchen these days, not really “up to scratch”.
Synonymous so sorry about your husbands fall, I do hope you get him home today, no worse for wear as my mum used to say.
Can I just recommend that you don’t condition your hair with a face pack!!
I did just that yesterday, I am almost blind in one eye and didn’t have my specs on of course, just reached for what I thought was a half sachet of conditioner , applied vigorously and the texture and the smell were very wrong, I panicked mightily as my GD had been tittivating the evening before as she is away for a few days. I truly thought it may have been hair removing cream.
I couldn’t get it rinsed off fast enough and expected my hair to come off with it.
I then had to shampoo again.
As the politicians are very fond of saying, lessons will be learnt, I shall have everything laid out to hand in future.
Thanks Grey. Just getting used to being another year older!
Just popped in to wish Anno a very happy birthday!??.
N&G, good luck to Grampy! “Mr Sleek”, eh? Wouldn’t that be something to dine out on??
Morning all,
Its been all go here and the week shows no sign of letting up !
Belated birthday wishes to MacS and Grey , hope you both enjoyed your special days .
ah Lins that brings back memories, I used to be allowed to stay up to watch Dixon of Dock Green with my Mum - a treat lol
So sorry to hear of your husbands fall Syn , hopefully the damage is not too bad and he will be back home with you soon.
Carillion you are quite right to bee proud , how lovely .
So sorry to hear Flynn was eaten Maw , I large burp should sort that right out !
This morning Grampy and I are off to Slimming where he has been nominated for Mr Sleek 2019 !! I cannot tell you how hard we laughed about that. Despite a stunning weight loss of over 4 stone I can assure you Grampy couldn't be described as sleek in a million years !
However, we will go along and take it in good part. I have made my chocolate orange ( slimming friendly) pots for the accompanying taster session so hope they are well received too ( they might be considered a bribe ;-) ) .
We have the Queen of the Universe and her family arriving Friday for an overnight on their way home from Centre Parcs and we will be having a mini party to celebrate her becoming a teenager, so lots of prep to do.
I shall return later to tell you if Grampy won ( or if we managed to kill off the entire group with our choc pots!!) x
I was interrupted in my typing so posted before I saw your news synonymous, I'm sorry to hear of your DH's fall and hope that there is no lasting damage. Here's hoping that you both have some rest tonight. Best wishes.
Oh Synonymous how awful for both of you. I’m glad Mr S is being monitored and I’m sure he’ll be fine but it does rather sap the confidence.
Evening All as dear Dixon of Dock Green used to say.
Yes corner we still have a leak, well maybe. The roofer called this morning and thinks the leak was caused by a cable clipped into the lead flashing. Hopefully it has been sorted. The real answer is a pitched roof over our lounge extension, but can't see that happening unless we win the lottery. Glad your indoor leak has been tracked and repaired - yours too greyduster, and hope you had a lovely Italian birthday meal. That is a lovely view from your back lane. My DH would be in seventh heaven there, he loves pylons. He doesn't get out much.
You must be very proud grandparents * Carillion* your GS looks very smart, one for the album that.
Hope everyone will have a peaceful night. TOYA
Poor DH and poor you Synonymous I very much hope that there has been no lasting damage but it must have given you a dreadful fright.
*CharleygirlL Flynn is fine thank you, not so sure about the lion!
Today the accident that was just waiting to happen did and Himself fell trying to get into the bathroom on his crutches. The ambulance arrived very quickly and carried him off to hospital and I have now returned home after following to A&E and seeing him settled into a ward for overnight observation, hsving been ustitched and medicated. Our gardening friend has helped to shift the sink back on to the pedestal and turned it back round to it's original position. Himself was wondering if he had whiplash and after seeing the damage in the bathroom I would not be at all surprised! The worst thing was mopping up the blood off the bathroom floor, head wounds really bleed! The reason for the stay in hospital is that they are being careful to monitor in case of a bleed on the brain as he is on warfarin. Hope that will not happen, really don't need that. Stump was undamaged fortunately! So very tired and going to bed now, it has been a long day.
Will catch up sometime and meanwhile TOYA. Hope we all sleep well wherever we are!
Carilllion a very proud GM.
Happy birthday GreyD. I thought next year I would buck the trend and start going downwards again.
MawB should young Flynn really be staying in that house if such awful things happen? I hope he has recovered!
soop very difficult because cats and busy roads do not mix.
How lovely Carillion - you must have been busting with pride!
BTW is Jeremy Dussek still Canon Precentor at Chester? He married DD and SIL and christened 2 of the DGSs. A character he used to enjoy dropping in at G&T time- curiously good timing!
maw
I hope Flynn was successfully regurgitated
carillion what a lovely photo of your GS. You must have been so proud of him.
greyduster happy birthday ? hope you had a good day.
Glad you and MrC are feeling a bit better corner
Soop it was called Official Secrets. It was good and only arranged as an escape from the fireworks. OH is not a cinema goer, but given the comfort of the surroundings I think he could be persuaded for an encore.
Belated happy birthday Greyduster. I hope Mr Grey enjoyed a nice italian meal.
Carillion, I like Elham, it’s a pretty village. Nice place for a stopover.
The big boy cat is never going to move in with anyone. He's about 16 and has never been anything other than self sufficient. He may continue to call by our takeaway. If so, he'll be assured of as much food as he needs. He lives about three miles away. It's a busy road that he would use. We shall continue to hope for the best.
Log off time. Care home visit in the morning. Thank you for your company. I look forward to being with you in our kitchen sometime after lunch.
TOYA

Greyduster HAPPY birthday to you.

Thank you Corner that’s very kind. Strange isn’t it? Our kitchen fitter was responsible for the recent failure of our under sink pipework too. Glad yours is sorted.
I have had a quiet day topped off with a walk when the weather cleared earlier. Very soggy under foot! The photo was taken from our back lane. We have to put up with the electricity pylons, but it’s a small price to pay. We are going out with DD and her menfolk this evening to an Italian restaurant. DH, who is strictly a steak pie and chips sort of chap, has promised to ‘man up’ and order something in keeping with his surroundings!
Carrillion epic drive indeed! Your grandson looks a splendid fellow and I am in awe of his vocal prowess. Is he a chorister? He is a month older than my GS (who, sadly, cannot hold a tune in a bucket - much like his grandmama - but is still the light of my life!). Where does the time go?
Glad MacS enjoyed his birthday, Soop. I hope there was a wee drama involved somewhere! So, good and bad news about the cat family? Let’s hope the worst doesn’t come to the worst.
I must go and rummage in my wardrobe for something that doesn’t make me look like a bag lady! Sure there must be something......
TOYA.
Could he perhaps move in? You must, as I am sure you have done, fed and watered him at the very least. That really was decent of him, many others would have taken advantage.
He stuck to the price he quoted charley. Said it’s wasn’t our fault the kitchen fitters did weird things with the pipe work. We’re looking after this one
.
Carrilion that was serious driving- so pleased you enjoyed doing it. I would have had to stay at home- I am not up to 90% doing of what you did.
*soop8 that is typical but maybe you may see some really good films now after the wilderness.
corner will the plumber charge you for a 10 minute job? No, I do not think so but at least he is doing the work and with some luck, he will finish today unless looking for spare parts will be on the horizon.
I am floating on air temporarily as the podiatrist has just left.
TOYA
Popped in to wish greyduster a very happy birthday, she let the cat out of the bag on the good morning thread.
I think, hope , we’ve finally got the germs on the run. Not yet packing their bags to leave but at least quieter. Mr C has half his hearing back, the cough is blessedly muffled and I can stand up without falling over. Much less embarrassing
. Plumber here at the moment, we are into the second hour of a ‘10 minute job’. It’s good here
.
Sorry the roof hasn’t cooperated kitty. You having roof problems too lins? My apologies, I haven’t caught up and suspect I won’t so TOYA and take care everyone.
