All good pals and jolly good company.

WELCOME!

soop Fri 08-Nov-19 14:46:43

Birthday greetings to the Queen of the Universe. Treat yourself to a right royal occasion. Lovely pics of a lovely young lady.

Weather hereabouts is glorious. Hard to believe that serious flooding has wreaked havoc for some of our Gransnet pals.

Had hair trimmed. MacS insisted that I stood in bright sunlight for the photo. My eyes kept closing as he took so long to get me into focus wink

Greyduster Fri 08-Nov-19 11:38:50

Happy birthday to your lovely girl, N&G??. That’s a splendid photo montage.

Soop I’m sorry to hear you are back in the ABs. UTI’s are miserable. Look after yourself.

Ann pleased to hear the NHS pulled out the stops for you - it does make a difference. Hope you enjoyed your meal!

The sun is sort of out today, after yesterday’s meteorological Armageddon. Much mopping up in our bit of South Yorkshire. We are not affected but I am sorry for those who are. I love our rivers, but it doesn’t help when four of them pour into the one that runs directly through the city centre. We had a month’s worth of rain in twenty four hours yesterday.
I am in a bit of a state of flux today. I ordered a battery and a new memory card for my camera at the beginning of the week from the firm named after a big river (it’s all about rivers here today!) and they haven’t turned up when they were supposed to and it will now be next week! I am doing a one day camera course tomorrow (probably in the rain!) and I wanted to be sure I had spares, so if they don’t come soon, I will have to go out and buy them, which is a b****y nuisance. I should have done that in the first place.
DH asked GS for some ideas for Christmas presents. I think I shall have to push my piano down to the local supermarket and do some busking!! People will probably pay me to go away!?⚡️??
I will look in a later. TOYA.

NanaandGrampy Fri 08-Nov-19 10:50:38

Morning all!

Just a quick pop in here .

I do have a question though - we have family coming for the weekend so it’s all go here so why....oh why..... does Grampy decide now would be the best time to install w new floating shelves in the lounge?

There are a million jobs and he chooses non urgent DIY ! Pass the frozen leg of lamb please !

Anyhow, as I am now equLly guilty by being here I’ll leave you with a picture of the Queen of the Universe who has her 13th birthday today and will be here shortly !

Charleygirl5 Fri 08-Nov-19 08:42:09

anno I do hope that yourself and others did not wake up this morning to see water gushing past or worse come indoors. Not sure where you live but seeing the devastation on the news there has been no let up for many hours.

We have a T of -2C here but at least it is dry.
TOYA

annodomini Thu 07-Nov-19 22:56:11

It's been raining all day, non-stop. Some roads around here are at risk of flooding but I've just checked and found that the traffic here is still moving. The other side of the Pennines is being hard hit this time.
Time for bed - I might get there before midnight for a change.moon

Nannytopsy Thu 07-Nov-19 22:25:06

Lovely to hear you sounding so upbeat Dragonfly! Long may it last. Although we have rain, it has not been as bad as you people further north. Keep yourselves warm and dry!
TOYA.

dragonfly46 Thu 07-Nov-19 17:25:27

soop I hope you feel better soon. ITU's indeed do not mix with a cough.

Kitty what a gadabout you are these days!!

I love my dentist. He and his assistant sat me down for a coffee when I was first diagnosed and he gave me lots of advice.

Went out for coffee with friends this morning and we have now sorted out all the country's problems so we can all sleep well in our beds tonight!!

Feeling really good at the moment but still taking it easy as I have a very fussy DH who makes sure I do!!!

soop Thu 07-Nov-19 17:12:00

Ann Repeat after us lot...you are NOT an old biddy. Pleased to hear that you have had a positive appointment with a taxi to take you home. flowers

kitty Pics of the threesome please.

Hats off to Mr corner. Keep up the good work. Get real well asap.

anno The Kintyre air is pure. Sadly, viruses make their merry way regardless of such things. It was the GP who said it was a virus. I made MacS wait in reception during my appointment. Thankfully the dear lady did not cough or sneeze in my presence.

Charleyg Unlike you, we are also having a dreich day. Although I believe that our recent weather has been decent compared with some regions.

Care home visit in the morning. Followed by a much needed hair trim. If it looks half decent, I shall share a photo with you.

TOYA and wishing you a pleasant and peaceful evening.

Back with you again tomorrow afternoon. smile moon

annsixty Thu 07-Nov-19 16:53:42

Just back from our local hospital full of praise.
I had an appt at 3:40 for a DEXA scan , but also had a chitty for a walk in x-ray on my hip.
The dept is at the other end of the hospital and closes at 4;30 so thought I would have to go back tomorrow.
Suffice it to say I had both done and dusted and was ringing for a taxi at 4;15.
That’s what I call efficient.
The radiographers were both charming to this old biddy.

We are off out at 6;30 for a celebratory meal.

Charleygirl5 Thu 07-Nov-19 15:50:05

I keep telling many of you that you need to move. The weather here been almost perfect, a blue sky, sunshine but a tad cold.

kitty your favourite dentist no longer looks like a child - he is well trained having lived with yourself for years.

corner, of course, I would not suggest a liquid painkiller for anything other than medicinal. I will be having two glasses of red- zilch wrong with me but they will be warding off the coughs and colds I am sure.

Pleased to hear that Mr. C had the energy to look at your hoover. Is he mechanically minded? Could he possibly have a look at my car for me, please? It is grinding in 1st gear and that to me means £££.

I have just picked up my 2 parcels from Argos click and collect. I was certain Argos had moved!!!

soop as somebody said, UTIs and coughs do not go together. I do hope you will feel better soon.

kitty will you and DH not empty the theatre (and stage) with your incessant coughing? enjoy, if possible.
TOYA

kittylester Thu 07-Nov-19 15:26:09

Well, I think I've managed to catch up!!

I actually quite like dentists!

Many happy returns to your dgd ann. Bittersweet memories, I'm sure with the photos. I can waste hours looking for a photo one of the children asks for.

Love the blanket n&g and congratulations to your dh on his weight loss.

It seems to me that the whole country is coughing at the moment - our house currently shakes as dh and I cough in unison! grin

I too loves cats soop, we have 3.

It is grey, wet and miserable here and I have made the mistake of sitting down. We are going to a concert this evening and I think it will take huge amount of willpower to rouse myself to cook, eat, beautify myself (!!) and get changed to go out in this weather, (through floods) to see a flipping jazz band!

cornergran Thu 07-Nov-19 13:56:29

Spot on charley. Technically no problem I’m sure, the inter personal stuff will come with time. I also like the sound of liquid painkiller. Purely medicinal of course grin

Hope the cough disappears without it being shared soop, coughs and UTIs truly don’t go together. Hope you and macs get better very soon.

Pleased to report the impatient patient here is heaps better. Fortunately better enough to sort out the vacuum when it started to scream in a most un-vacuum like way.

Haven’t got far with the cleaning, best press on. Horrid day here again, it saps both enthusiasm and energy. Hope you can enjoy today’s celebrations ann, my congratulations to your granddaughter.

Charleygirl5 Thu 07-Nov-19 12:48:46

corner at least today's nightmare is over and you could always have some liquid painkiller when you sit down to have your evening meal.

I wonder if the dentist you saw today needs some experience but not at your expense?

Mine is young, with experience and so polite I am gobsmacked. My optometrist and dentist are almost within touching distance- my GP is much further but I have no intention of changing unless I am thrown out and I do try to behave.

Doodle thankfully Tara does not need to be hand fed treats because she is not allowed and does not get any. She has prescription food which I buy online because the vet charges almost double. She has been known to lick some curry juice off a plate. At her age, I really do not mind. She came to me aged 2 from CPL having had 2 awful homes before. How they could not have liked her is beyond me because she is so good.

annodomini Thu 07-Nov-19 12:40:34

ann, I read about the security alert, which turned out to be a false alarm, at Schiphol Airport and hoped your GD wasn't held up by it. What a shame. That kind of thing takes the shine off a happy time. Happy Birthday to her. I hope she is fully recovered from the delayed flight.
It's a dreich day and here the rain is coming straight down. I'm hoping for a north or north-east wind which will blow the birch leaves (not mine) into other people's gardens for a change. A normal SW wind sends them all my way.
soop, sorry to hear about MacS' and all the other coughs. I always think of Kintyre as a healthy environment. Hope you don't catch it from him - a UTI is more than enough of a buggeration. Keep warm and cosy.

soop Thu 07-Nov-19 11:47:44

I have no idea what 'frin' means.

soop Thu 07-Nov-19 11:47:04

I love cats. grin [frin] grin Always have. Always will.

soop Thu 07-Nov-19 11:46:18

Back on antibio's. Perhaps now that I am back on the list for the on-hold prolapse surgery, the UTI's will be far less troublesome. We shall see.

You lot never sit still long enough for the likes of me to gently read through a few posts and say...I am now bang up to date. Chance would be a fine thing. wink

Talk of dentists. Arrgh! You'll know when I am next keeping an appointment. The dentist has to be my number one phobia. Beats big spiders by a mile.
anno A dishy dentist. hmm No wonder you are keeping him to yourself. Us lot would be inclined to form a disorderly queue for his services. grin

N&G That is one splendid blanket. You are so gifted. I envy your creative talents.

Ann A difficult task has been undertaken. You will have been reminded of many occasions shared with your dear husband. I think that it's lovely knowing your granddaughter wishes to keep your photos in her locket. She is a super special person.

MacS has a cough. The lady doctor has a cough. Our pals have coughs. To all those of you with coughs, you have my very best wishes for a speedy recovery.

cornergran Thu 07-Nov-19 11:13:50

A cupcake would go down well n&g, I’m sorry your gum issue hasn’t been resolved. I’m back, we both survived but suffice to say although gentle I’m not sure I would want the person I have just seen to be my usual dentist. We just didn’t gel, no ones fault except maybe my anxiety. On the positive side I’m comfy once more and with luck today’s patching will hang on until my next routine appointment in January. I then get to meet my new allocated dentist recommended by our departing one. I did hope I hadn’t annoyed him that week grin.

I’m not surprised you’re tired this morning ann, that was quite a kerfuffle at the airport. I read your post to the coughing one nannyt the remarkably unsympathetic response was ‘that’s why we don’t have a cat’. You have to love him grin. I wonder whether it will be cat or your husband who wins the next round smile.

Right, off to do some seriously needed cleaning. Not exciting but necessary and as there was little sleep last night probably best to stick to the mundane today.

TOYA, enjoy knit and natter tomorrow n&g, that pattern looks entirely professional.

NanaandGrampy Thu 07-Nov-19 10:39:00

Morning all !!

I am with you in spirit Corner I woke up to a flare up of my ongoing gum infection ! I’m nearly at the place where I will HAVE to go back and even thinking about it raises my blood pressure ! I hope your new lady is kind x

Sorry to her your GD got held up but glad she’s home safely .

Oh NannyT poor MrNT ! It’s funny how pets always manage to let you know what they want ?.

I have the cupcakes in the oven ready to ice this afternoon for tomorrow . I’m off to knit and natter . I have a new project underway . Although not perfect I’m very proud I managed the pattern .

Happy day all x

annsixty Thu 07-Nov-19 09:33:07

As someone who hates going to the Dentist, although I have never had a bad experience, I sympathise corner, I make myself go every 6 months but dread it even now.
You will be fine.
TO everyone else on this very wet morning.
My GD was held up with the scare at the airport last night and was very late home, we are both exhausted this morning, my cleaner woke me up arriving at 7:45, unheard of before.

cornergran Thu 07-Nov-19 09:16:26

I’m sat in the dental surgery. Couldn’t recall the time of the appointment once I’d put the phone down so arrived 40 minutes early. Oh dear hmm. An emergency appointment with a newly qualified dentist. She sounds nice. Cross everything for us both. Will report later.

Nannytopsy Wed 06-Nov-19 23:51:04

Our cat is definitely in the dog house tonight. He didn’t want to go out, didn’t want his dinner but clearly wanted something. When DH didn’t provide, cat attacked his leg and bit him! We thought that side of his character had gone but clearly not. He may be 15 but will he make 16?? Watch this space!
( ps It was chicken he wanted)

Doodle Wed 06-Nov-19 20:35:26

Bitter sweet memories ann. How lovely that your DGD wants photos of her grandparents in her locket.
soop please don’t overdo things with the ironing.
tara has a single bed in the spare room! She deserves a four poster at least. With a butler on duty to hand feed her delicate morsels as and when required. No wonder she stays out late some nights (probably going clubbing in some millionaires luxury limo I expect) ?

annodomini Wed 06-Nov-19 20:34:56

Corner, I hope you have a pleasant surprise with your new dentist. If I could share mine with you, I would, but I keep him quite busy as it is! He is the dishiest dentist I've ever been lucky enough to have.
It was a big step for you, ann, going through all those photographs; difficult while you are still vulnerable.
Glad the physio has arranged for your hip and spine to be x-rayed. It's good to feel that some progress is being made.
Enjoy your GD's birthday celebrations. Go easy on the bubbly!

dragonfly46 Wed 06-Nov-19 18:48:39

Sorry to hear you had a tricky time Ann - looking at photos always brings back memories both good and bad.

Oh * Corner* you do seem to be having one thing after another. I hope your new dentist is as lovely as mine.
