I'm also going to check out prosecco lollies!

Dh and I have both been laid low with this blessed cold. The cold goes but the lethargy doesnt.

While I try to catch up I thought you might like to smile at the excited phone call we had from our Persie.

Ma, I've just been to a baudition for the Christmas play.

Have you sweetheart, did you get a part?

Yes, I'm doing a solo.......with 2 other girls! grin

Back later when I have caught up (and found a stockist of prosecco lollies!)

annsixty Fri 22-Nov-19 12:02:36

I have been offered an appt with an Orthopaedic surgeon at the local BMI hospital for Dec 7th.
My local NHS hospital which was my preferred choice, I had my knee done there, could not offer me an appt in the near future.

MawB Fri 22-Nov-19 11:39:58

Wow! These are gorgeous!

loopylou Fri 22-Nov-19 11:01:54

These are my latest attempts, Christmas presents for family and friends. I think I've done 16 pairs so far - it was a big expensive mistake looking at hand dyed yarn on Etsy ?

annsixty Fri 22-Nov-19 10:28:40

Ooh I will check those out.

MawB Fri 22-Nov-19 10:25:47

Was it someone in the kitchen who mentioned Prosecco ice lollies a wee while back? ...???

annsixty Fri 22-Nov-19 10:21:14

Thanks all, I have just done a Sainsbury’s order and she requested chocolate to melt and strawberries for the dipping in of!
She does know me well and has me wrapped round her little finger.

annodomini Fri 22-Nov-19 10:12:05

ann, I'm so sorry for your poor GD. I gather that a tonsillectomy is worse for an adult than a child. She is lucky to have you to care for her. Perhaps your DS could pick up a big pack of ice lollies which would sooth her throat if only temporarily. She probably can't contemplate swallowing anything solid and it's difficult to think of something non-irritant. She will know what she might feel like eating.

MawB Fri 22-Nov-19 09:29:21

Many commiserations to your GD Annsixty being in pain lie that simply says what little energy you have.
Is she keeping up with prescribed pain relief? So many people try to “do without” or hold off until it is necessary which results in playing catch-up with the pain. I am told it is better to actually get ahead of it by taking the necessary when told to
As for going to the Trafford Centre - after my one experience with DGS at Legoland I would rather do anything than go there ever again!( Provide your own definition of “anything” - even lunch with Nigel Farage - well maybe not quite that! ????)

Welcome back.
My poor GD is in a lot of pain again today, her throat is very raw.
Just to give you some small idea why she lives with me, her mum, my exDiL who is brilliant on the “talking it up” and lives just 2 miles away hasn’t been to see her since picking her up on Tuesday.
She is off work today and I have just texted her to ask if she is coming to see her, she can’t as she is off out for the day to the Trafford Centre to meet a friend .
She won’t come this weekend as my S will be home and it is pistols at dawn when they meet.
The other side of the coin, my D’s estranged H is in London from Bermuda on business and last night my D and the C were going up to have a meal with him .
How much easier for everyone and how civilised.

Charleygirl5 Fri 22-Nov-19 09:02:21

dragonfly it cannot be easy but you do have some time until the next lot of treatment. Just think, next spring you will be a new woman!

When I surface each day I ask Alexa what the weather is like locally because I do not like Tara going out when it is minus whatever although she does not appear to mind. Spring is around the corner- that is what I keep telling myself.

ann weigh up the pros and cons- at least you are not living on your own and you would be able to cope.
TOYA

<_whispers....what is 'TOYA'..please?._>

That's beautiful baggs, I shall look it up on t'internet!
Hello everyone, how lovely to be back in the kitchen, it's been a wee while now!
Beautiful photos of trees, the colour's are so striking this year aren't they?
I'm addicted to knitting socks at the moment! Will post photos in a bit.

dragonfly46 Fri 22-Nov-19 08:49:30

Good morning you lovely lot. I have woken up feeling much more perky. Now I hopefully have 2 weeks of energy before the next lot. My DD informed me at the weekend that I am tough. I think it was a compliment and will take it as such.

I have tried to catch up.
The autumn photos are stunning as are your paintings soop.
The Temari is beautiful Baggs and envious you are waking up to an elephant GG.

I hope you continue to give us your beautiful posts Izabella.

Ann sorry to hear you may need a new hip. My mum had one at 93 and has forgotten all about it now. My DD had a complete hip replacement this year and was back at work in 3 weeks, admittedly she is only 42!
Happy to hear your GD is well after her op, hopefully it will be the end of her strep throats.

Maw pleased you are recovering from you laryngitis.
May your DD continue to adapt to his new leg Synonymous.

I hope I haven’t forgotten anyone. I love you all and the support you give me.
TOYA.

Hello all.
greyduster and grannyqueenie love your photos. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Oh soop so sorry to hear about Brodie. Still at least he/she had some love from you and McSporran. Lovely portraits as usual.
Glad you’re feeling a bit better maw
Gracious granygravy that elephant would have given me such a shock. ?
baggs that’s an amazing T thing. You mentioned before that you did them and I looked it up thinking I would have a go but it was way beyond me. Yours is lovely.
Glad your DGD is home ann. Time for a bit of tlc.
TOYA ?

Synonymous Thu 21-Nov-19 18:00:16

P.S. That is a beautiful work of art Baggs - I would be so chuffed if I had managed to make it.

Synonymous Thu 21-Nov-19 17:56:50

The reason the kitchen seemed very quiet is that I had not refreshed the page! blush

That is a portrait to treasure soop ! Pleased you are back on 'the list' and hope all is sorted every soon.

Maw I am hoping we are all on an upward swing, that would be so good.

Synonymous Thu 21-Nov-19 17:45:15

GG that would explain it then! grin

We have had a lovely drive out and Himself enjoyed a slice of lemon drizzle cake. He realised what I was up to and was quite happy - especially about the tea and cake!
The kitchen is very quiet today so I hope all is well with everyone.

soop Thu 21-Nov-19 17:28:25

drain...not darin. wink

soop Thu 21-Nov-19 17:27:36

Photographing paintings in artificial light seems to darin them a tad of depth of colour. Anyway...here is the profile.

TOYA smile moon

MawB Thu 21-Nov-19 17:16:57

You know how we seem to get good days and not-so-good days in the kitchen?
Despite the proliferation of buggerations, I nevertheless detect a more optimistic and upbeat tone - or perhaps its just me!
Dragonfly you are doing wonderfully, I hope the nausea is subsiding again, but you have my sympathy for steroid-induced insomnia. Makes you wonder sometimes what’s worse, the disease or the cure? I hope you have managed to rest up today after your early start though.

TOYA

soop Thu 21-Nov-19 17:11:38

I've completed second portrait of elderly Daisy . MacSporran is kindly mounting it for me. Tomorrow afternoon (after being prodded by the surgeon who has put me back on the "drop-bot" list)...yay! I shall deliver the portraits to the very sweet lady owner who lives in the village. Daisy was most unwell on Tuesday. I hope to goodness that she is still at home when I visit.
When I've photographed portrait, I shall share.

soop Thu 21-Nov-19 17:04:54

Baggs That is a beauty. I love the colours. I shall always treasure those you made for me. A talented lady x

Baggs Thu 21-Nov-19 15:58:23

PS I'm pleased the feral cat adoption scheme is working well, soop. Lovely team effort down your way ?

Baggs Thu 21-Nov-19 15:55:35

Hello, soopers all! I just made this temari. I'm a bit disappointed cos it didn't come out too well but it has some nice shapes.

soop Thu 21-Nov-19 14:48:00

GrannyGravy I am green with envy. Lucky, lucky, lucky you.

Synonymous Thank you for a lovely post. Big hugs for Mr Syn and xxx too.

Latest update ref the feral feline family. The dear cat adopted yesterday, showed signs of stress during the evening. The couple who have been managing the re-homing project went to assist. The dear lady who had adopted said cat, had placed him close to a heater with a pile of blankets. Pussy had always been feral and lived previously in a bitterly cold barn. Couple transported him to home of another lady who had re-homed one of the siblings. The cat recovered almost immediately. Couple returned to discover black cat in the trap. That amounts to a total of seven. Motored it to the lady who was in charge of two of the family. She now has three. The two will stay with her until they aclimatise...in due course, the latest two will return to the dear lady who would have possibly "killed them with kindness".
