Would Harry and Meghan have asked for the vehicles to be shipped to S.A? Would they have been consulted about it? Or, as it is more likely, would that be a decision made by others? But don't let facts get in the way of a good dig at them.

They are on an official tour, to a large extent they basically go where they are told to go - they would have no control over the logistics of the tour.

If it’s shown there was no consent then it will be illegal. There’s very clear case law on this. It’s the law of copyright and I’ve already posted why there is almost certainly no public interest defence .Getting muddled what I’ve posted where as this is on two threads.

All that this is doing is giving the Press an excuse to print more rubbish about them. They're the gift that keep on giving.

Money and status does not equal happiness, as Diana found out it only enables you to be miserable in comfort. Just like so many divorces money is secondary to happiness, Meghan will be no different.

Publishing with consent is perfectly legal. The entirety issue relates I believe to a case where the publishers defence was ‘the public interest’. They lost in part because they published extracts - had they published in full the public interest defence might have worked in that case. IMO it won’t here because it’s not in the public interest and they published extracts.

I've read that publishing it in its 'entirety' would have been illegal. Which of course the Mail didn't do.

Why do people insist on using that phrase " the race card". It's not a card, it's not a game. Being black is not a card which somehow trumps the other players.

I think it's unfair to suggest racism is behind criticism. I'm sure you're not suggesting that everyone who has no time for M is a racist.

Daring to be different is great. I've been doing it all my life. But abandoning an aged parent that you've loved all your life is low. And I think that's what a lot of people find difficult.

Those who have followed this from the beginning are aware that Harry and Meghan didn't bother going to see her father when they got engaged. They never went to see him after either. The man at this time hadn't said a word.

Then Harry comes out with some claptrap about giving Meghan the first real family Christmas that she's ever had which was bound to annoy her family.

Which is why we got those dreadful photos of him and half sister woman went on the rampage.

But I'd be annoyed as well!! She'd lived with her father from the age of 12. Her Father's Day message the year she met Harry was terribly sweet and loving.

There seems to be an attitude in the tabloid press and amongst the public at large.....and, dare I say it (probably not!), in some quarters on GN, that if we are going to have a royal family, let's have traditional royals; let's not have anyone who is:
American
an actress
a person of colour
intelligent
strong-minded
articulate
genuinely committed to certain good causes
prioritises motherhood.
Let's instead have equally 'hypocritical' but vanilla members of the royal family who instead, know their place and know their role: be anodyne, dress impressively and smile nicely.
This is not a criticism of those who follow this route - they are simply doing their job well as required. But it is a defence of a person who is capable of making a significant contribution to the work of the royal family....while still retaining her own persona. It is also a plea not to vilify someone because they dare to be different.

Davidhs-can’t imagine for a minute they would “drop out” of public life. Like Princess Margaret year’s ago, they enjoy the high life at the expense of others too much IMHO

It's impossible to believe the RF would issue legal proceedings without taking advice from its legal advisors, so it seems suziewoozie is correct. What the DM did in publishing the letter was illegal.
The DM this morning is making much of the fact that Harry's statement came after a week of positive publicity of their tour in Africa. As if that wipes out the past year of unkind, unnecessary attacks on the couple, particularly against Meghan.

Reprehensible or not, it’s simply illegal. A letter can only be published with the writers clear consent ( or when copyright expires - 70 years). The possibility of the ‘public interest’ defence will not wash with this example and the more so because they published selective parts. There’s a ‘wild west’ feel to England atm I feel.

I do think the publication of a Meghan's private letter to her father by the Mail on Sunday appalling, just wonder how they got their hands on that particularly as extracts were taken out of context. In any case the publication of something so private without the consent of the writer is reprehensible and I understand the Sussex's reaction.
