What I did today

It rained all the way on my journey home this morning.

This afternoon I spent a few hours doing some crochet but I’m not good at it so the result is disappointing. Never mind though I had a go.

Tonight has involved channel hopping and forty winks.
Night all ?

Got up at 8.30, showered and finished clearing up after having friends round for dinner last night.
Had the grandchildren round from 9.30 till 1.30 as mum & dad were working.
Chilled out this afternoon with DC (dear cat?) while DH was out watching his team beat Manchester United.
Now reclining on sofa catching up with a couple of series on tv that I’ve recorded with a glass of wine.

Sleepover with grandson at my blokes.
Up at 5.30am with grandson.
Back to bed at 6.30am.
Up at 8.30.
Out for a walk with grandson and bloke in the lovely Jesmond Dene. Went to see the animals in the mini zoo. Had a play on the playground.
Back to blokes to let grandson have a nap.
Delivered grandson back to his mum.
Marked 40 exercise books.
Went to do a private tuition session.
Back home.
Laundry put away.
Work dresses for the week washed.
Clean. 'Tidy.
Kissed grandson good night, into bed with his bottle. So sweet!!
Chilling on sofa with cats.
Next: bed.
Night night.

Well annsixty I just needed to say how about an evening thread and it happened.! And busy it is too.

And there's you saying you have a dull life and surprise surprise, your favourite DGD (or one of your favourites!) moves in with you to give you a new interest.

I was complaining a few months ago that Sundays could be dull as a "Golf" widow and lo and behold it hasn't been lonely or dull since.
Today I was judging at the horticultural show which was great fun and I won a huge plant in the raffle, I had a good friend over and tonight we went to the movies. I'm supposed to be having a slim day so I didn't have a big meal or alcohol but otherwise very satisfying day.

I had a lovely day - I know I'm very lucky - I went, with my husband, to see our eldest son (1/4 mile from us), as he had his 2 daughters for the weekend, and we went, with our other son (again, 1/4 mile from us, lives alone, no kids etc) to a lovely pub across town, for Sunday lunch. We then all went to an indoor place centre for 2 hours, as it was raining. From there, we all went back to my house, the girls had a play and did some drawing, then they had sandwiches and cake before we took them back home to their mother. Sons returned to their own homes, so then husband and I had a quiet evening in.

How lovely it is that we take such pleasure in simple things and mostly... spending time with our families.

I have done very little.
Watched the robot mower cut the grass in the rain, binge watched ‘Unbelievable* and cooked the roast dinner.

Jiggered now and need my bed.

I've done nothing today,apart from taking my mother to the shops where I got a salad in a box and a ready made dinner, came home ate the dinner and lay on soda watching tv until I called at my mother's today to fix computer then home again to snuggle with my fur baby on sofa. Never mind work tomorrow, hope you all had a good day.

How exciting to have your GD move in with you Annsixty. Lucky girl to have you for a gran. My DD has been for the weekend, primarily for a school reunion which was a huge success and they had a great time. However she also had to visit her F in hospital and try to get him to understand that he may not be going home again unless and until he agrees to some structural changes to his house. We have been divorced for over 30 years but in her absence I may be the one commissioning the builder etc.

I cleaned all the windows, washed and ironed the voiles and put them back up. Had a meal for two deal for dinner. DD is all packed to go home and after a quick visit to the NH in the morning I have to get her to the airport.

Time for bed I think. Good night Ann and everyone, sleep well.

Watched rugby; had some breakfast; then watched more rugby. For most of the afternoon I snoozed and read my book, The Sealwoman's Gift by Sally Magnusson (daughter of Magnus); until sister rang for a chat. Evening TV to watch Antiques Road Show recorded in Dundee just a few weeks ago at the new V&A museum of design.

Slow start, caught up with some tv from last week as we were away, walked to the local shop for basic provisions. Sorted a heap of ‘stuff’. Spent the afternoon faffing with photos on the computer. Time flew, sorted our evening meal then had an hour’s chat on the phone with our eldest before two hours talking or rather listening to our goddaughter who is supporting her Mum after a brain bleed. Phew, I thought it had been a quiet day . I’m pleased you’ll have your granddaughter with you ann, thank you for this thread to round the day off, I can’t promise I will post regularly but I will certainly drop in and read posts. Sleep well everyone.

I am a bit ashamed to admit that I have done very little today (or yesterday - Sunday) except enjoy myself. OH travelled to his footy match, and it was just me and the daft cat at home. We had a few chats and cuddles during the course of the day. I sorted out one box of 'stuff' from the garage. (It's been there for three years!) and I walked to the shop to buy the papers, read them, did the crossword, played music from my playlists, wrote to two lovely grans via Gransnet, made myself a salad lunch but spent the rest of the day raiding the DGC's 'treat box' and ate several Cadbury's Freddie Frogs.

OH came home and we had a G&T or two whilst watching the world cup rugby highlights. Neither of us could be bothered to cook tonight so we had ham and mustard sandwiches and wine and watched a Mission Impossible film. I foolishly got myself on a political thread on GN, before making us a red bush tea as a night-cap.

I hope to achieve more tomorrow, but if I don't I don't really care! (I love being retired.)

It would hsve been my dad's 102nd birthday today and I spent some time thinking about the wonderful times we spent when I was a child growing up. He died unexpectedly when I was 17 and he 45.
I'd arranged for flowers to be placed on his and mum's grave today and a photo is always sent by my friend to show what they look like in situ.
This afternoon I read for a while then had a later than usual dinner with two friends. We often take turns to have each other for a meal. One brings starter, one brings pudding and host provides mains and drinks.
When I arrived home I had a luxuriously hot shower and climbed into bed (six pillows) with a couple of magazines, a glass of iced tea and watched Strictly and Dragon's Den on iPlayer.
Sleep time now...?

I was so pleased to see it was annsixty who began this thread with such joy at the beautiful residint grand-daughter. Bless her heart.

I think we all shed tears for you ann (and not a few norty words) when you were so bravely battling all those obstacles. So it's nice to see something truly good come into your life.

As for me. After the all-night hospital vigil I had a day's grace and then went back to Kamal, now at home under Hospice care.
He is still terminally ill of course, that won't change but surrounded by his very noisy family and friends, he is clearly much happier, though unable to say so.

The boys took the TV into his room and watched the rugby, shouting and yelling for the All Blacks whilst Kamal dozed on and off but was obviously happy.

Halala and I sat in the other half of the room; she dozing, exhausted against my knee as I knitted. Between us, on a mobile phone and very quietly, gentle chants from the Qu'ran soothed us.

A real contrast to the cacophony of the All Blacks v Springboks replay!

Finally, at 1 am, after the last Hospice nurse had come and gone, I was taken home.

I'm on alert to go back but it is so much better for the whole family now Kamal is home. I doubt I shall be needed until 'the end'.

Well done annsixty for reviving this thread. I hope that having your granddaughter staying with you will produce more ups than downs in your life.

I have been unwell for weeks so have mostly stayed huddled at home except when it's been really necessary to go out, but today was one of those times when I needed to pull on my big girl pants and get out of the house in order to meet a couple of relatives who have severe mental health issues. A question of striking whilst the iron is hot as they are not often in the right frame of mind for a meeting, but they had said they were happy to meet us in a cafe for breakfast. I woke up feeling awful and nearly opted out, but I'm so glad I didn't.

I came home feeling really poorly (I had also got soaked to the skin by torrential rain!) so I went straight to bed and slept until the early evening. After I woke The Wonderful Man cooked me some food and then I dealt with a bit of work stuff and now I'm just about to try and sleep. Right now I feel rough, but not sleepy.

After breakfast I finished off my crochet item.
I decided that this week apart from bread and milk I will not shop and eat the food I have in the freezer. Could be some interesting menus coming up at Beechnut Bistro ?
I was lazy this afternoon and watched a film on tv then had a quick visit from my brother.
Now I’m off to wash the dishes.

After a bad weekend worrying about my unresolved health issue I got up, showered and went to my class.
Went to Sainsbury's and bought a sweater and dress which I may return.
Home for lunch and caught up with Unbelievable on Netflix.
Then time to collect gs as other gran is still away. Made his tea and home now to finish Netflix and a glass of wine.
Missed the meter man but numbers are so small I can't fill in his card.

Monday is always busy for me as I do the cleaning, which I did. Lots of hard work in the garden last week meant a trip to the tip before seeing DH off on a business trip to Denmark (about installing a big wind farm).

The morning weather forecast suggested high winds and rain tomorrow so I went out and cleared the bean patch, taking down the runner bean wigwams and picking the last of the apples and pears.

After lunch, I went to my Tai Chi class and then delivered a beautiful mid 19th century work table I received this summer as a rather expensive birthday present, part thank you for coping with being the sole driver for three months to a restorer to have the top repolished and restored.

Once home I bought the last of our antique stock down from the shed to be loaded into the van to go to Peterborough Antiques Fair this weekend. I had then intended to wrap and pack all the valuable fragile items, but at that point I ran out of steam and I am now planning an early night.

I have had a much quieter day than I hoped.
I had wanted to do some clearing out but my hip was really bad today,I must get it looked at soon.
My friend has offered to take me to M&S tomorrow to take back a jacket I bought which I know I won't wear.
I will take my painkillers early and hope I will be ok.

Today... I was up at 6.15, put some washing in the machine, fed the cat, tidied round a bit. Showered, washed & dried my hair, got dressed, applied my make-up, went to work (got petrol on the way), which is 20 minutes away. Had a Heath & Safety bloke there, asking me a lot of questions.

Did my work, went home, fed the cat. Went to eldest son's house, took him to A&E as he'd injured his ankle.......spend almost 5 hours there, to be told he'd sprained it.

Took him home, went home myself, unloaded all the groceries that arrived, make a quick dinner, fed the cat (he's a big, spoilt boy), changed my bed, put the washer on again, just had a bath and got my pyjamas on.

I have been at home all day,the first time in weeks so have had a lovely time catching up with all the laundry and housework.My husband had physio and then took the car to be serviced so once I had finished all my chores I phoned my mum then have been catching up on all the tv I have missed over the last busy week.We are just watching strictly then an early night as off to Stafford tomorrow to look after our little grandson.

I went to the dentist for an appointment with the hygienist. Who is new to the practice. Boy, he’s good. Thorough but gentle. First time I’ve not needed paracetamol afterwards! I hope he stays.

Met my friend and had coffee then a glass of wine and before we knew it, 3 hours had passed!

Walked round to see the smalls. Their daddy was putting their tea out as mummy had a meeting in work (teacher) and she got home just after 6pm, bless. She looked tired and the school year has only just started. I think it’s hard for her - full time and the baby is only 2y. Anyway as she came in I’d bathed the children and they were in their pj’s.

Home in the rain (good job had my umbrella). Just eaten. Glass of wine & Tv now for me.

Urmstongran, I had the hygienist last week, like you not looking forward to it, as she is usually so brutal.

It turned out my usual hygienist had left and the new one was a very nice and gentle young man.
I positively skipped out of the dentist!

We have been waiting for news of our GCs arrival into the world......so I cleared the ironing pile and spent far too much time on GN.

GS is here safe and sound, our darling DIL, had complications following her planned C-Section, but is doing much better than a few hours ago.

Now collapsed in Mr.Gravys chair with a glass of chilled white wine.....phew!!!
