Daughter 3 and I were in the studio audience on Saturday night for Strictly. It was...………….interesting, and enjoyable, but blooming uncomfortable. Have you ever sat on a small hard chair for 5 hours, with one buttock hanging over the side? We`ve been there, done it, now we`ll be happy to watch it on TV from now on.

I switched on the heating this evening, the first for many months.

We have yet to find out how to turn our heating on, so I hope it doesn’t go too cold for the next few days! I am going to ambush the next door neighbour!

Evening All. I’m pleased to be here. Thought I’d drown in the way home late afternoon. I can’t recall being scared in rain before, this was frightening for just a few minutes and unreasonably wet.

Many congratulations to soop and macs for their anniversary tomorrow. Enjoy every minute.

Heating charley? I’m holding out ,but I do have a blanket. Mr C insists it’s not cold .

I’ve always wondered about the audience for Strictly callgirl, it does sound as if it may have been more comfortable here. Hope the enjoyment outweighed the discomfort.

Well I’m definitely a failure as a mother, doesn’t look like any chance of a get together happening. So many complications with so few people. I don’t dare think about Christmas, put it this way there is no chance of me being asked to cater for 21. I’m sure you’ll cope admirably kitty. Wishing you well for roof repairs, you sound far more relaxed about it then I would be.

Bit of irritation here today. Our shower control has got stuck, probably lime scale. Mr C and plumbing don’t mix. The plumber who installed it might come tomorrow - or might not. Oh well, there’s always a bucket .

A very dull, overcast and drizzly day in the shire. However, there always seems to be something to provide cheer and the whole of the Izabella household has been enthralled this morning. We have all been at various windows, binns in hand watching a kingfisher on the pond. Such flashes of wondrous hues as it hunted with deadly accuracy. CH immediately recited (how he remembers all this I dont know) ^The Kingfisher by William Henry Davies. The line 'It was the rainbow gave thee birth' said it all for me.

I vacate the kitchen feeling enriched.

With"events" seeming to take over my life just now I feared the kitchen would have been renewed and I would not be able to catch up on all the happenings............. which would make me very unhappy!!!!!

But perhaps just in time to wish our dear Soop and her MacS a very special and together Anniversary this very day, and in abundance.
Exactly the same for you and your man Izabella..... although rather belatedlly, such a special occasion and one that even means more as the years roll by.

Hello my dear kitchen friends and yes we too in our far western corner of Wales are expierencing foul weather conditions,once the rain starts in earnest there is no let up and even the roads are appearing to be rivers!!!
The rivers themselves of course are flooding rather badly.

Another one who remembers the very hard winter of 1946/7
when living in a little village in the heart of the country.We were completely snowed in for some 6 weeks or more.
It was my foster father whom took it upon himself to walk to another village some 4/5 miles away,where they had a bakery............with a big hessian sack slung across his back he brought back freshly baked bread having walked in a straight line .......actually over the tops of trees and thus making the hazardous journey much less than the 4/5 miles around the narrow country roads.
As children of course it seemed just ideal as a playground!!

With such wet conditions though ,it certainly means we have to hunker down safe,dry and warm indoors.... as the last thing we need is a dose of flu, or worse still pneumonia.

For all the pluses in this move we have one big "Beef"
To reach our car park we cross a road and walk up a slope.
The first dedicated area to the left is for disabled parkers,which is always well filled (there are but 4 places!)to get to the next 4 disabled parking places one has to continue up this slope(quite a gradient in fact for disabled and/or elderly).....................and yet opposite the first set of disabled bays lies a bay of ordinary parking if you please (but very narrow in comparison to the extra space allowed for the disabled).....................obviously the mind that designed these spaces could not think straight!!!.........and certainly was not disabled or elderly!!

Anyway much is happening in our lives,our previous Garage, overflowing with our old goodies and very much trash was cleared out on Saturday,another step nearer to the signing.............we hope!
We had a rather pleasant and lucrative Macmillen Coffee morning here, along with a meeting to choose dates for our Harvest Supper,a Carol Service, Christmas Party,a visit to our nearby theatre to enjoy a pantomine and so forth, now that the big C is approaching at a rate of knots!!!

Tomorrow I travel alone (by Ambulance car) to another Hospital some 60 miles away to either have a biopsy taken or possably remove..... what looks suspiciously looks like another BCC on the leg that was so badly hurt.
It is the first time I have had to face such a Medical appointment without my nearest and dearest,whilst I have no real need to worry about his welfare here.thankfully.
So many kind hearts have said they will pop by and others will escort him to the Dining Hall for lunch ............but nevertheless,I shall be happier when that date is again ticked as done and dusted!!!

On Sunday our new very caring friends invited us to their home for Sunday Lunch and a get together,it was very enjoyable, and we were both deeply touched by all their lovely touches ensuring we were comfortable and not over tiring ourselves......although they are a full generation younger than ourselves.
So all in all life is rolling nicely in our stablishment!!!

Lunch time draws near so I will love and leave you all,trusting life is generally being kind and the weather not too disruptive.

Wet and miserable here today, no sign of the crisp autumn days that we all love. Chilly too, it’s been a sudden transition from my trusty Fitflops to winter boots.

Happy Anniversary wishes to soop and MacSand also Mr and Mrs Izabella, enjoy celebrating. A kingfisher, what a treat they’re beautiful but so quick and elusive.

Well our own celebration weekend with all the family went well, much better than I’d anticipated actually. It was great to see everyone enjoying each other’s company, catching up, sharing joys and sorrows. At times I sat back just listening to the buzz of conversation around me, pure magic! The weather wasn’t really on our side but we managed a rather damp walk, enjoyed good food and possibly too much fine wine together! Definitely a weekend full of happy memories. One of our gifts was a photo book, using some from our collection. It seems that dd2 asking to “just nip in and scan some of gd’s homework on your printer” while we were away had an ulterior motive! It’s a gift we will always treasure.

kitty I don’t envy you catering 21 for C*******s, I quail at our 19. I’m off the hook this year as dd2 and her swanky new kitchen extension are stepping up to the mark...phew! Varying family/work commitments, different priorities and distance conspire against us all being together and I can no longer just “round them up” for a family gathering.

Well this won’t do, lurking in here while there are things to be done. Apologies to all I’ve missed but as always toya. Dds 1 and 4 stayed an extra night after our weekend away, a real treat for us. Before all going our separate ways yesterday we enjoyed a walk round the gardens at Chatsworth, naturally there are photos!

A warm welcome to GrannySomerset. It is always a happy occassion when we have a new Kitchener to share our highs and lows with.

The sun shone throughout our wedding day. Likewise, it has shone all day today. We've had a superb lunch at the Glenbarr restaurant...including a glass of wine and a large slice of freshly baked apple and frangipani tart/pie topped with fresh cream. My waistband is groaning. I shall need to slip into my trews with an elasticated waist.

We always take a photo to mark the occasion. MacS set the self-timer on the camera for just two seconds initially. That photo was rubbish. We did manage a decent second attempt.

Another one here who reads every day but seldom posts.

Mention of Vick's reminds me that my chiropodist recommends it for treating and preventing fungal nails---so much cheaper than those little bottles of "cure" at £19.99 a go.

It's been a lovely afternoon here in sunny Sussex---dried all the washing in no time.

I've just worked out the prototype for this year's C*******s card so now will have to set up a production line. I fear this will be the last year that I will make them as my eyesight is baulking at all the little details.

Hello Chicken great name by the way :-) , I can offer you the services of young Cooper who has decided his career of choice is to be a chicken cuddler :-). I am envious you got the washing dried, it remains dull , grey and rainy here!

Foolishly , we decided to head into town to the jewellers. The Queen of the Universe will be 13 in about 6 weeks and we have a charm bracelet we bought the day she arrived and each year we add a couple of charms to commemorate big things in her life. We have a couple to be added.

We drove out of the house, round the bend and at that stage it became obvious ….we had a flat tyre !! So we limped home again and that put paid to our trip. We are grounded now till Wednesday some time as the man will come out to replace the tyre but he's not in our area till them.

GrannieQ I love the sound of your weekend away. We try and do this too with both my brothers and sisters and also with our own girls and families. We reached an age where we only all got together at marriages and funerals and that just isn't good enough. Like you , I like to sit back and just enjoy 'being' .

Lovely pictures soop and grannieQ. You are lucky to have sun. We have houses flooded here which have never been flooded and could not drive into town for the enormous puddles.
Our heating has still not come on although it is set to. It just hasn't got so cold.

dragonfly I can hardly believe that there are areas suffering serious flood damage. I wish that I could share some of our sunshine with those who need it.

callgirl1 We said hello to David. There is just one camper van on the site. The weather is glorious albeit a tad chilly.

I have managed a pile of ironing. I shall now sit with a and read the newspaper. We'll only need a bowl of soup this evening and a slice of MacS's sultana loaf toasted. At 9:pm I shall have a celebratory G&T and MacS will enjoy a special wee dram. Slainte!

Most of the morning taken up with getting DH fit to go to his Probus lunch (he is expected to wear a tie, which these days almost defeats me) and the afternoon with my lovely WI book group. These days I relish the small pleasures of life and am grateful for a day when nothing goes astray.
