2 croissants, 2 petits pains, 3 cups of coffee, a glass of orange juice under my (needs loosening) belt and I am speeding across northern France en route to Brussels where we change trains for Cologne.
There are some lovely friendly people , not at all “Coupley” and I have a good feeling about this week??

I hope baby arrives soon tanith he may not rest so peacefully afterwards.

tanith Sat 07-Sept-19 10:40:31

My GD just posted a pic of her partner sleeping peacefully in a recliner beside her hospital bed while she’s had barely a couple of hours rest. MEN! they have it so easy. ?

NanaandGrampy Sat 07-Sept-19 09:40:24

Morning all !

After that desperate dinner I now need a restorative this morning - is it 5'0clock somewhere???

Grampy usually gets up a lot before me , this morning I was up about 7.30am and by 9am there was no sight of him. I have obviously reached the stage where I was beginning to think ...what if he'd passed away....in there ….with the door shut. I was bargaining with myself on how long Id leave it before I risked going in... well no one wants to wake a sleeping Grampy do they ??

Luckily , he surfaced at 9.10 !! After much teasing about making lunch , it got me thinking when did I tip over from thinking 'lazy bugger' to ' has he died' ??? Pass the gin !!!

Fingers crossed the baby gets a move on Tanith!!

LOL Galen I am sending him down to you - you can appreciate the green stuff ! To be fair he does a great Sunday roast , so if he leaves now you will get the best of him :-)

Beautiful scenery GrannieQ I am envious. Its a bit rainy here this morning so I doubt we will venture far.

Happy day all ! x

Hello the kitchen! I am sitting here trying to think up ways of wangling a morning in bed, but nothing viable is presenting itself at the moment, so I suppose I will have to get up and do stuff!

Lins that is some bike ride. I wish him well. My niece is a long distance cyclist; I marvel at the miles she covers.

N&G that looks very, er, green! Just looking at all that green should count as one of your five a day ?! Well done Grampy, though, for even offering to cook - anything! We know you appreciate his efforts when he gets it right. DH cooking anything is an almost non-existent event in this house.

Tanith I’m sure they won’t let her labour go on too long before intervening for her safety. I had a long labour with my first and wouldn’t wish it on anyone.??

Gq don’t apologise for all the photos. We love them! It takes you out of yourself to see such lovely scenery! Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

While we were in Wales, some kind person managed to put a horrible scrape on the corner of our front bumper. I didn’t notice and DH didn’t tell me until yesterday because he knew that it would be the straw that broke the camel’s back while we were down there. I took it rather better yesterday. Worse things happen at sea, I suppose.

Okay, time to get up. TOYA!

Glad you had a better night dragonfly and your recovery is going well.
Nannyandgrampy, when I saw the picture of your meal I thought it looked delicious but your description made me laugh?
grannyqueenie, loving your photos. We visited Skye over 30 years ago and absolutely loved it.My brother was stationed in Lossiemouth with the RAF and we made the trip to Skye while visiting him.
Hope the new baby arrives soon tanith????

Tanith hope baby comes soon,

Carillion look forward to the recipe.

Had a better night last night but not moved too much so not sure about the pain levels! However, the sum is shining. Love to all.

tanith Sat 07-Sept-19 08:07:13

I’ve not popped in for ages I have been away but need to catch up with you all, just wanted to share my very sleepless night. One of my GDs has been in hospital since yesterday morning having her labour induced and I thought a new baby might be here but no such luck.
It’s now nearly 24 hrs and things are going very slowly I fear it’s going to be a long tiring weekend.

Off to read a gazillion posts ?

Lins1066 Fri 06-Sept-19 22:54:01

I hope he has a comfy saddle too grannyqueenie and some sudocrem!! Thank you for mentioning him.
Your photos are beautiful, I always enjoy them.
TOYA and have a peaceful night.

Carillion01 Fri 06-Sept-19 22:46:58

Dear Lins1066, regarding the recipe, yes of course Lins.
I had to go out unexpectedly tonight but will pm it to you tomorrow as well as to Galen and Dragonfly. Xxx

Galen Fri 06-Sept-19 22:21:22

N&G
Your poor dh must be devastated by your non appreciation of his cleverly contrived meal. You really should be more appreciative of his efforts, after all, he’s a man, you can’t expect too much.

grannyqueenie Fri 06-Sept-19 22:11:01

You were warned!

grannyqueenie Fri 06-Sept-19 22:05:46

Good evening all! That sounds like very good advice indeed feelingmyage, what is it about these men that means they can’t admit when something has gone wrong.? Hope a slice of cake and a glass or 2 have sorted out the taste issue n&g!

charley that tradesman is a gem, its easy to forget in these days of suspicion that there are still some good folk around. Hope you’re able to feel genuinely cheery soon corner, not always easy when the stuff of life pulls us down . I'm sure your neighbour appreciated the time you spent with her though. That’s a long bike ride lins, hope your son has a very comfy saddle!

For all the weather has been mixed on Skye, it hasn't really been that cold for which I'm very grateful. Our last day here today and it’s been another good one, once again we successfully dodged showers and saw some blue sky too. Walked up many steps along a steep path to see a lighthouse and when we got there the need for such a thing was very evident! Naturally there will be a photo, or 3 or even more, I fear that you’ll be regretting encouraging me! Its such a beautiful island with a variety of terrain and different views around every corner - often it seems with different weather systems too. Much of it, especially the sea lochs, reminds of our very favourite Welsh holiday spot on the Mawddach Estuary. There are lots of winding, single track roads which my old boy loves driving along so we’ve been up and down, all over the place and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it all.

Tomorrow we’re spending the day heading towards central Scotland to catch up with family, that'll be a different thing altogether. Wishing you all a good nights sleep, with special thoughts for all with aching hearts or bodies tonight. xx

Lins1066 Fri 06-Sept-19 21:07:00

May I have the recipe too Carillion please'

gransal Fri 06-Sept-19 20:20:22

charley winter pansies it shall be. Many thanks for the advice. Much appreciated.

Feelingmyage55 Fri 06-Sept-19 19:21:08

n&g. May I recommend taking the bad taste away with something from the drinks cabinet - alone - since MrG insists it was alright.
soop some lovely alliteration in your post. I hope you are feeling better and that getting the paints out is a good sign.
dragonfly glad that you sound so positive and that you are “feeling the love”.
I thoroughly enjoyed all the recent photos and appreciate the sharing.
The weather is so cold here that I have lit the wood burner and am settling down to watch some of the US Open with a bowl of that lovely soup and sourdough.

Oh yuck n&g,you're a braver soul than I.

Hope the bruising settles dragonfly, are you allowed to use arnica? We're all different I know but it seems to settle bruising fairly quickly, the tablet type saves rubbing cream on sore places.

Flipping chilly here too. Been very virtuous today and caught up with 'stuff', lots of tidying and the dreaded admin plus a food shop. Neighbour is out of hospital now so I no longer have to set an alarm to remember to feed the cat hmm. Spent an hour with our neighbour doing my best to be cheerful, not my natural way of being at the moment but I tried and she appreciated it.

I got our soup maker out of summer storage today, bound to trigger a heatwave grin

TOYA, be good everyone

dragonfly46 Fri 06-Sept-19 18:42:54

N&G so funny!

Charleygirl5 Fri 06-Sept-19 18:05:23

N&G I did laugh!!!!!! Sorry.

NanaandGrampy Fri 06-Sept-19 17:56:05

Can I sit here in the corner and feel the tiniest bit sorry for myself ?

Grampy took over the kitchen this evening to make pea and mint pasta . I have posted a picture.

It was horrid! Very dry, very ( unexpectedly) lemony with a metallic after taste and just plain odd. Turns out we had no mint so he threw in some mint sauce....... I rest my case!

I managed a mouthful or two but he was determined to prove it was ‘alright’ !

Let me assure you it was most unalright......?

Pass the cake please!

Carillion01 Fri 06-Sept-19 17:55:44

Dear Dragonfly consider it done. ???

I'm sure you feel like you've gone a few rounds with a prize fighter.

Hoping the bruising and discomfort starts to subside very soon.

Sending a gentle ((hug)). Xx

dragonfly46 Fri 06-Sept-19 17:21:58

Carillion can you pm me the recipe too? Sounds delicious.

Feeling as if I have been hit by a truck today! Lots of bruising which is very painful. I am sure it will get better - please!

Carillion01 Fri 06-Sept-19 17:15:28

Hello Galen, I'll pm you the recipe shortly, with pleasure! ???

soop Fri 06-Sept-19 17:09:18

I took my water bottle to bed with me last night. Warm tooties are a must.

Am having a right royal tussle with cat photos sent to me from the lady in the village. All have something to recommend them. But the lighting is awful and detail is murky. Never say never...I shall persevere.

TOYA and wishing you a pleasant evening. Will return after feline family feeding tomorrow morning. smile moon
