Far too beautiful a day to have appointments at the surgery but some things have to be!!
Not only my dear one had his Hormonal treatment but we both had our seasonal flu jabs,it has kn ocked the stuffing of my beloved but knowing him as well as I do,I can guarantee tomorrow he will be back to form, although even today he keeps smiling.
Tomorrow I pick up my specs regarding reading and computing so can but hope I will find them a good improvement.
I have certainly lost me vision where colours are concerned and I do find this rather upsetting.I have to keep checking that I haven`t too much of a colour clash daily!!

What a lovely portrait of "Wilma" and I totally agree Lins1066 our Soop is an accomplished artist.I am sure you will cherish this picture.
So very sorry hearing that darn pain persists and I sincerely hope that it will soon heal,it must be extremly upsetting having this pain and your mobility affected so soon following your recovery after such a period of "out of bounds"Life can be so unfair at times.

Good hearing from you Dragonfly and hearing the upbeat tone again, you are really doing so very well.

You certainly seem to be travelling between Hospitals these days Synon ymous and I know it can be rather draining, yet your dear man has come a long way in a short period of time.Hopefully his recovery continues at a good pace.Whilst you need to grab a few moments in between!!

You have always spared a time and kind word for our situation GG13 and now I read you have a very painful back condition yourself, thank you for your kind caring thoughts and I hope that you do find relief from this bone pain.

The glorious weather seemingly continues and what a blessing this late in September,it will help push back wintertime hopefully.

Have yourselves a peaceful evening my kitchen friends,TOYA xx

Gosh it was lovely and warm sitting inthe garden. Smokie found another mouse and disappeared somewhere to deal with it, no chance of rescue so I hope it was one of those who stole my strawberries and we will get a crop nect year. hmm

soop our Sedums are a very deep rosy pink and there were more bees of every description than anything else. We still have lots of painted ladies amidst a whole host of other kinds of butterflies. So lovely!

Off to the hospital now for a late appointment and then. we travel on Sunday to get to another hospital in the big smoke for an appointment on Monday. It is a pity that the other one for the new leg was not possible at the same time but things rarely work out so well! We have booked a stay at a nice hotel so will not be back until Wednesday. Hoping that it will be a rest and we can both enjoy it.

Soop no prothesis yet just a softie!!

soop Thu 19-Sept-19 16:22:20

Today's weather has been superb. There is barely a wisp of a cloud in the sky. The sea is calm. We had our regular walk earlier today. Lovely autumnal colours beginning to tint the landscape.

I am about to tidy the wee chalet. Although since we started visiting the farm barn a couple of miles away, the cats seem to be happy enough to stay on their home territory. We would prefer them to do so. The road between the farm and our home is busy at times. The bowl was empty when we checked it earlier.

TOYA. After tomorrow's care home visit, I shall look forward to calling in for updates. Be good. Try not to over tire yourselves. Thank you for your company. smile moon

dragonfly Have you been fitted with a prosthesis? Mine is very realistic. Exceedingly comfortable. Although I remove it early evening and put it to bed in it's posh, moulded box.

dragonfly46 Thu 19-Sept-19 16:02:49

So pleased to hear your day went better than expected Morethan. They are so clever these days and pleased the doctors have not completely given up.

Beautiful poem Izabella but all your posts are beautiful.

Lovely pictures Soop you are so talented.

Trying to take it easy but so difficult in this glorious weather and I have so many friends who want to take me out or come and visit. I feel very blessed.
I weighed myself the other day and was so thrilled I had lost weight then of course realised it is probably because I am one boob down! grin

soop Thu 19-Sept-19 15:54:38

Synonymous The sedum is looking particularly good at this time of the year. Ours is a fabulous dusky pink. Must take a photo.

Synonymous Thu 19-Sept-19 15:18:31

I thought I might catch up but clearly no chance so I am off to make a cup of tea, sit in the sun and admire the butterflies on the sedum flowers. TOYA flowers xx

Synonymous Thu 19-Sept-19 15:16:31

Dear morethan we keep you and your family in our prayers and pray that you have the strength you need to get through this traumatic time. Deuteronomy 33:26,27 and Ps 91:1-4 are wonderfully comforting words for those who belong to the Lord and we hang on to such verses ourselves. We don't know all the whys and wherefores but He does. Our love and flowers xx

Synonymous Thu 19-Sept-19 14:54:53

kitty how wonderful to still have an aunt and especially one as sharp as you say. I hope to stay that way myself!

I went to visit a friend yesterday who sounds very similar and has reached the grand old age of 95 and 1/2 (dont forget the half grin!) When she was a very young woman in her twenties she had a cancer in her ear and after some very aggressive treatment her parents were told to take her home and make the most of her final 6 months. She has had 70 years! Much prayer was sent up for her from all round the world - God is good!smile

GrannyQ just love your photos once again - Memory Lane. Doubtful if I will ever get out and walk in the countryside again but never say"never". Perhaps I could go in your picnic basket?! smile
As for dahlias you just need to keep them dry and frost free. I would make sure they are wrapped up to give them a bit more protection if you are using a mini greenhouse. And thinking of greenhouses, get the biggest and best you can afford according to the space you have available as it will open up a whole new world. We know of someone who got a greenhouse just for sitting in to enjoy the sun and be out of the wind and then he discovered he had green fingers and found a new lease of life in his new hobby.
I am hoping that Himself will be able to get back to his hobbies when we have our new link room. As I write this the architect is busy measuring and working it all out. I want it to be possible for him to get out there even if he becomes wheelchair bound one day so we are hoping to have a wheelchair lift to get him up and down in the worst case scenario. He could get wheeled through and into the car in the dry which would be preferable to going through all the weather. Hoping we have enough buttons to do it all!

Synonymous Thu 19-Sept-19 14:03:54

Izabella I loved the poem. Himself comes from down on the south coast and really appreciated it too.

He remembers all the day trippers who would come down to the seaside for the day and then determinedly sit on the beach waiting for the sea fret to burn off because they knew 'the sea was sort of there' because they could hear the waves breaking on the shore. It also even happened when the rain poured down! hmm

soop Thu 19-Sept-19 13:10:56

N&G At one time we all had Stevie's belief that anything was possible. A magical time of life. There are times when we could all benefit from a dose of that very magic. I have a feeling that it's going to be a fabulous weekend. grin

I wish to second the motion that you lot are the absolute tops. flowers sunshine

soop Thu 19-Sept-19 13:04:29

Thank you, Lins1066 Please may your back improve very soon.
Here is the second portrait of Wilma. Head and shoulders was meant to replace the full length painting.

NanaandGrampy Thu 19-Sept-19 08:57:35

Morning all,

Its a bright, cool start to the day here today so we are taking ourselves off to the cinema to see Downtown Abbey . Due to slimming restrictions there will be no big bag of sweets and somehow taking crudities and such isn't the same :-)

We are currently girding our loins for the trip back to see everyone at the weekend and celebrate young Stevie's 10th birthday. He has fallen in love with Harry Potter from the books , not having seen the movies yet. He rang last night to tell me that an amazing thing had happened. He had received a letter from Professor McGonigal inviting him to join them at Hogwarts to be a wizard !! I love his total belief in the reality of it ( and I made it!) .

Happy days all !!

Doodle Wed 18-Sept-19 23:39:06

I do so agree GG. What a wonderful inspiring lot you are ?

GrannyGravy13 Wed 18-Sept-19 22:11:25

Izabella I have left the lid off of my blender numerous times, so I totally sympathise with you.

Lins1066 I have osteopenia in several bones in my back.....and it is a pain in the ****!!!

We all have troubles of varying degrees.......ageing is not for wimps, but GN is an extremely friendly, strong and helpful support for those in need ???

Soops kitcheners are the best!

annodomini Wed 18-Sept-19 22:02:56

morethan, What a relief that the appointment was so much more positive than you feared. I hope you are now able to draw breath and have a good night's sleep. moon

Izabella Wed 18-Sept-19 21:07:43

Soop !!!

Izabella Wed 18-Sept-19 21:05:42

Thank you soon. Believe it or not I could do that yesterday. I shall try again when we return from a few days soujourn by the sea. A pal is painting the ceiling for us (again) in the meantime.

Lins1066 Wed 18-Sept-19 17:56:29

I will indeed say a prayer for your daughter in law morethan and a gentle hug for you.
Doodle I'm sorry that your grandson is suffering and hope that things will get better soon.

I am still suffering with my back so what a fillip to receive soop's portrait of our beloved Wilma. It is so much like her that it is like looking at a photograph. We are delighted with it. What a talented artist you are soop, please take a bow, nay several.

TOYA ?☕️?

Panache Wed 18-Sept-19 17:44:26

Hope is the only one thing we ever have when the chips are down and life is as low as it gets so Morethan difficult though this appointment would have been, almost pointless, and yet you have all been handed a degree of hope to help you on through another wee while.Every part of me hopes it will bring much more hope into this devastating of situations. You are very much in my thoughts.

Onto a brighter note and in reply to the several of you whom kindly noted my disappointment at no longer being able to keep plants indoors, which yes has been a rather large life line for me over the past difficulties.
Strangely enough, only today Lidl leaflet states succulents on offer........... so in reply to that suggestion yes I shall give them a try.
I had to smile at the bathroom suggestion, only because it is the hottest of rooms, has no natural light and although large it has been designed to take wheelchairs and all this sort of equipment, plus the fact we already use an area as a utility!!.............so quite frankly, there just is no space!!!
The kitchen windowsill again does not have natural light, however I am going to give it a go!!

Whilst doing my good deed for the day, walking this dear almost blind 92 year old lady to the dining room and back again to her sitting room............via a nice stroll around the gardsens in today`s very warm sunshine.......I noted she has several plants doing well in her sitting room, and her flat faces the same way as ours..............so that tells me to go ahead and give it a go!!

Thank you all for cotributing, and how it helps to encourage us when things look less cheerful.
I will keep you posted!

Night all,do enjoy a peaceful evening.X

soop Wed 18-Sept-19 17:30:24

Dear Ann Loving thoughts from me to you.

I would like to forward the same message to all of you who are having a very tough time coping with whatever continues to rob you or your loved ones of inner peace.

I have to log off for today. But, it needs to be said that I am thinking of you all.

I shall return in the morning. smile moon

cornergran Wed 18-Sept-19 17:24:17

Sorry can’t help with music izabella, someone will though. Your kitchen ceiling could just set a trend smile. I so admire your cheerfulness.

What a day morethan, please relax a bit if you can, love to you all.

TOYA, and a hug for anyone who would like one.
