Well, spent the morning on the phone being shunted around and finally got the information needed. I shouldn’t have been surprised at how difficult it was and how little is being offered, maybe I wasn’t surprised, more saddened. Have also got information on what should be happening in their area and have asked how those with a duty of care plan to fill the gap. I know, there won’t be an answer short of a miracle occurring.

Done what I can for now. Will sleep easier tonight although of course her daughter is still more than stressed.

Think I brought holiday germs back with me, raw throat and I’ll soon resemble Rudolph so an early night for me.

Hi kitcheners we were able to visit DIL and have a cuddle, sorry no pictures as they do not approve of any form of social media, but he will be known as Freddie , he has been given family names from both sides.
I can relax slightly, but will be a lot happier when they are home.

Dear Panache, it was good to read that your DH is picking up as you'd hoped... and Dragonfly I hope you are maintaining your good progress and feeling comfortable.

Annsixty, I'm so pleased your GD is with you, it must be so nice to have her company.

I've really enjoyed seeing the lovely photographs, beautiful children, sunsets, landscapes and flowers and the super photo from Izabella of The Repair Shop, DH's favourite TV programme.

Quick update on DH. He saw a GP from a different practice who is trying him on a different 'mixture' of painkillers. We're seeing how things go for now. He sees the consultant in two weeks for what we think is a final pronouncement as to if back surgery will go ahead. I'll pop back into the kitchen before then just to be in this lovely place again.

When I returned home the computer alerted me to a virus. We've been attempting to resolve the issue and, with the assistance of a pal who is computer literate, it appears that we are back on track.

At the care home our pal was in his bed and peeling a banana when the news came on the television that proroging of Parliament was unlawful. We asked him - what next? He slowly munched on the banana and responded - bugger all! Made us both hoot.

I'm running late for above reasons. There is much for me to read. I shall do my best.

Hello the kitchen. I don’t know what is wrong with my iPad today - it seems to be on a go slow, and my email seems to have seized up. Anyway, the rain is absolutely coming down in stair rods so it could be weather related. DH keeps going out in his waterproofs to empty the water butt so that it doesn’t back up and flood the guttering on the conservatory.

I’m sorry I have only just got round to congratulating GrannyG on her new grandchild! May he thrive and be loved and I hope his mummy is feeling better today??.

Izabella. Bach wrist; not good news! Could be worse - it could be Litolff Scherzo wrist?!! I sympathise. I sprained my thumb ages ago and the only time it flares up is when I have been playing the piano for any length of time - or when I am making pastry! I’m not spectacularly good at either! Anno’s suggestion sounds like a good one.

We are popping across this afternoon to have coffee with my niece, who was widowed late last year. She acquired a Shih Tzu puppy a few days ago. When I asked how she was settling down she said “She’s adorable but very naughty!” Mmm! GS has asked me to take a photo so that he can wave it under DD’s nose to add weight to his plea for a dog. However hard he waves, it ain’t gonna happen, but I will take the photo anyway!

Well, Noah has gone to bail out the ark yet again. The lawn is getting a good soaking whether it needs it or not! I will try and look in later. TOYA.

You need to rest indeed dear Dragonfly as I too experienced unpleasantness for the first time following the flu jab,I rather think this year`s may be a tad on the strong side.I think this may have helped knock my beloved too,though pleased to say he is again feeling more his "old self"........meaning ........up and down these days!

Not much happening in our residence today,have now had my new computing specs and sadly they have not improved my vision in the slightest............so I will still have an excuse for my poor spelling and mistakes etc!!!

After a few showers which left the outside areas nice and fresh, there is sunshine again this morning although the skies look rather undecided as yet.Certainly feeling far more autumnal.

Izabella, when I had surgery on my hand, I did get exercises from the physios but the best exercise was one I devised myself. I bought some squashy foam tennis balls from John Lewis's toy department and just sat around squashing and releasing one. It seemed to work and I did recommend them to the physios - as if they would listen!
I've checked on Amazon for 'foam tennis balls' and they have lots!

Any physics in the kitchen? I thought my #wrist and metacarpals were fine from my cycling fall until I set my Bach challenge. Any suggestions re hand exercises would be helpful. Wrist rotation fine. Ring and little finger impinging on something

CH’s knees are slowly loosening off after his marathon drive on choked motorways the other day. Methinks an automatic may be in line for the next vehicle.

The rains have arrived in the shire and it feels so much cooler. They have arrived accompanied with a most unwelcome virus that is a botheration and nothing compared to the trials and tribulations of many kitcheners. I note that annesixty you are not on top form so I wish you (and everyone else) a better day.

I found an old post it note informing me someone wanted to know the name s of the dahlias but did not write down who. CH has found the details so if that Kitchener could pm me we will pass on the details.

Look after yourself, Dragonfly - don’t do too much. We have our first visitors tomorrow (apart from family) so cleaning and tidying where possible. I joined the village choir tonight - a fun choir. Everyone seemed very friendly.

Evening All. What’s all this talk of sunshine? Goodness, it’s been falling down all day here.

I’m sure practicalities will settle with your granddaughter, ann. The benefits will outweigh the problems.

This food production thing is odd. I used to simply do it, as automatic as breathing. Now? Well, I’m already fretting about feeding friends who are coming to stay in three weeks. Three meals a day for a week on top of planning trips out feels impossible right now.

I’m pleased your husband is stronger panache, I could do with your restaurant for our visitors .

On the subject of food that beautifully presented chicken pie would go down well greyd. I’m not sure I should admit this but I have no idea what Parkin is will Google it .

That sounds a horrific journey izabella, we had good weather fortunately the only issue was a closed ‘A’ road with a diversion along a mountainous ‘B’ road. Very pretty if narrow at times.

Just had a long phone call My head’s all over the place now. My friend has been given a hospital discharge date, it’s acknowledged that she won’t manage alone but of course the care she needs isn’t easily accessible. Her daughter is distraught and struggling to cope with the complexities. I so want to go to the meetings and speak on her behalf. My head knows the distance precludes it, my heart wants to be there. A bit overwhelmed this evening. Something I know ann and others understand only too well. I’ll make some phone calls in the morning and try to get concrete information about availability of resources. Wish me luck.

Life takes on a new turn now the rains have arrived!I had forgotten what it was like to wear a coat and carry a brolly!
It does not do great things to one`s hairstyle either!

As for health, my dear one has rallied round again as I hoped......and guessed.......he would, but it has certainly left a big mark and it may take a week or two for him to pick back up.
Thanks for your understandin g and sharing Soop,it is certainly like walking a perpetual tight rope,never knowing what a new day,or even a new hour may bring.Yet were we to live in complete misery and gloom it would certainly be the wrong move, and make whatever time we have to share very unhappy.We just have to make the best out of every hour and of every day.
We find blessings in the oddest of places.
Whilst we were told my dear Foster Mum had just 6 weeks to live, she truly blessed us with 7 whole happy months,and though my man has been given a time limit too, we refuse to let it dwell on our shoulders..........a determined spirit can and does push out those boundaries.
We are fortunate in having such men my friend.

All this mouth watering mention of food............yet the best thing as far as I am concerned now is the fact I no longer have to plan,prepare and lay up for the main meal,that is such a treat for me!

So lovely reading of your Jackson`s kindness N & G,that must really make you feel so proud,and rightly so.

Having brought Christmas forward treating ourselves to one of these all singing T.V`s we now await people in whom were happy to purchase our older one,plus an armchair that we find redundant!!After that a quiet night is in order.
